Quote:It has always struck me as a silly mechanic, that should a league drop below the minimum threshold (due to a d/c, a quit, a kick, or whatever), that the trial would cease to function. TFs don't work this way, so I wonder why the devs structured the trials in such a manner.Concerning Keyes..the smaller the league, the easier to get the badge IMO. We did a Mo run with just 12 of us (we tried smaller, starting with 12 and having people quit, but it would not let us continue with less than 11)
I heard that the Oblit beam can target even in the hospital. I was skeptical of the claim, since the hospital strategy appears to be one that has been succesfully employed. -
Quote:Troll much?HAHAHA this is delightful.
Let me get this straight
There are 1366 badges in the game over the last few issues the amount available to any badger has increased by on the order of 1000 or at least many hundred.
Over this time period
- 1. 1 Impossible badge has gone from impossible to easy.
- 2. There have been added an enormous number of exploration badges that can only be called easy.
- 3. All the badges of an opposite alignment have gone from impossible to possible.
- 4. The old hardest badges in the MoSTF, MoRSF have gone from difficult to farmable on speed runs.
- 5. The newer hardest badges, MoLGTF, MoITF went to achievable on speed runs by accident
- 6. The newest very hard badges, Master of Apex, Master of Tin Mage have gone from impossible to achievable by accident.
Now we have two trials with marginally difficult badges that but have been reduced in difficulty since their introduction, and subsequent new badges that can be done by accident.
The Above constitutes a "DISTURBING TREND" ??
4 or 5 badges out of a trendline of 1300+ is not a trend, its a blip at best, maybe a dead cat bounce.
Well at least I have my answer to why badgers badge, you all really do like seeing that number go up.
I mean seriously, this has been an entirely uncontentious thready until you showed up. -
Quote:Amen. I'm stuck at 14/16 on the Dreamwalker badge. I've seen nightmares duplicated now several times over, but have yet to see Jurassik or Deathsurge. I see nothing "master" about what's little more than a Random Number Generator, and getting luck of the draw. I had the same idea as you, make it six, 10, or 12 out of 16. But all 16? Makes for a bunch of cranky badgers.Dreamwalker is getting close to a breaking point for me.
Having to reset and farm the first mission for RANDOM arch-villains is tedious at the very least. We've been trying to get a friend on Pinnacle (@Catatomic) the Jack in Irons AV and we literally rest about 10 times last night and never got it.
This badge is stupid. Make it "Defeat 6 (or 10) of Malaise's Nightmares to earn this badge" and it will be much, much more bearable. -
Quote:A creative approach, one that our team leader pondered briefly as I recall, but we didn't give it a go, for whatever reason. If it's any help, four people with Incandescence can make the Green Stuff a breeze. Assuming everyone's on the same page and has their teleport prompts turned off you can cycle through the teleports while your designated taunter pulls AM out of the Obliteration area of effect. It took about 4 tries to get that badge when we had just two of us with the league teleport.

Quote:If in your account management screen it says the following, you're golden:Thanks folks, clicking that banner offer and selecting the 12 month deal did the trick, well, at least I hope so, I won't know until March if it works, but so far it looks promising.

Quote:Avoids the Green Stuff is arguably the most difficult badge to get in the game. As a dedicated badger, it certainly was the badge that gave me the most difficulty. A group of us, over a period of four months, tried every Sunday for the Keyes badges, Green Stuff in particular. We started late September. Finally got Green Stuff the Sunday before Christmas. I'd estimate we did about 40 runs of Keyes (having done 2-3 Keyes per week).Exactly. I wouldn't mind doing those if it were dependent upon me, not on others. I've lost count of how many times I've avoided the green stuff, have not been killed,....
We were a team of people whose goal was dedicated to acquiring this badge, and it still took us ~40 attempts. There's almost no chance to get the badge on a regular Keyes runs. When I do Keyes now, I just laugh when I see Green Stuff fail, inevitably, usually on the first beam. -
Quote:Since the transition to an F2P model, I've been simply gobsmacked at the amount of content being added to the game. It's been a veritable flurry of new content, including new power sets, new trials, new story arcs, signature story arcs, etc.But there are more Trials being added all the time - we're getting the Diabolique one in I22, and there's the showdown with Tyrant in the near future, plus the Coming Storm arriving - they're producing Trials at a way faster rate than any other content they've ever produced for 50s before.

Quote:Hyperbole alert. What TF do you have to have at least 4 purple sets to get an invite for? Not MoX runs, just the plain old +0/x1 TF.
iTrials are level shifts or get out.
If you're going to try and make a point, it's best to ensure your statements are factual. Based on my experience:
1. I have NEVER seen players vetted for the number of purples they have slotted.
2. BAF, Lambda, Keyes, and UG can be done unshifted, and I've never seen players vetted for their shifted status. I'm sure it's happened sometime on some server, to but suggest it happens regularly is a patent exaggeration. Perhaps your server sees a lot of this, but on Champion, iTrial formations are extremely PuG friendly. MoM and TPN have shifted AVs, and were designed for shifted players. As such it's not unreasonable to vet players to ensure they're going to be able to contribute in a meaningful way (an unshifted 50 will be completely useless against a 54+2 AV). -
While I personally am not bothered with my ticks getting drowned out in a sea of grey, I can see that it could bother others. I think your suggestion is a sound one, and recommend you post it up on the Suggestions forum.

Yes, I picked up the New Year Pack last night (around midnight). I was worried it would be priced the same as the Winter Pack, which would have made me balk at purchasing it. I was hoping it would be priced at 200 pp, so when I saw it at 160 pp, it was a no brainer.

Wow, that's just lame. Glad I got it the easy way on my new TW character just recently.

Quote:Interesting, I didn't realize that either. Although, that explains why my incarnate salvage was mysteriously increasing in the last week. In this past week, I've banged out MoKeyes, MoTPN, and three badges towards MoMoM.The trial badges already work this way. Currently, any badge requirements fulfilled by the league results in an extra astral merit for each one. Also, there is a random uncommon salvage drop for the first 3 badges earned and a random rare drop for the master badge. The problem is, its not enough of an incentive.
As an example: Why would a team spend an extra half hour working on bombs in the Underground trial for an extra astral merit when they could run a BAF trial in that same time and earn 5 of them? -
Quote:Heh, they've come down in price. I've only ever seen them sold for $2B.I was trying to sell, and made a broadcast that i had a shield wall tp protection 3% level 40 for 1.7 billion. (because that was what the last one sold for on bm) and someone answered " for a level 40 ?". To which i replied. " yes it has the same effect as 50..." am I correct.. ? and also my next question is.. if i had a level 40 and put a 50 next to it would the bonus apply? thanks..

Quote:Quite right. It probably wasn't widely known that the Titan Weapons Pack was available for free as a stand-alone purchase (my initial impression was that it was free only with the purchase of the weapon set). The OP probably wasn't aware, but one could have acquired the freebie pack, and purchased the actual Titan Weapon set at a future date. This is what I did. I caved a few days later and bought the weapon set, but that's a different story. And this is why when you see something on the market for free you grab it while it's there instead of waiting.

Quote:This happened to me a few weeks back on my beam rifle corruptor, who was level 37 at the time. I put in a ticket at support.cityofheroes.com and my problem was fixed in short order.I bought the Street Justice powerset the first week of November, or maybe it was December, I can't recall which. I rolled a couple of Street Justice brutes, one on Virtue and one on Exalted. The one I have on Virtue I've gotten up to level 37, and she's been a blast, and so I rolled another on Exalted who's only up to level 10 or so.
The problem is just now I logged on to Virtue and it says my StJ brute is locked because I don't have access to the Street Justice powerset. I checked the Market, and next to the Street Justice powerset, I have the option to buy it, and I thought the "Buy" button was not supposed to show on items you've bought. Obviously the Market has it wrong, and because of this, it has notified CoH to lock my brute.
Who do I contact about this and how do I contact them? Can I do it in-game, or do I have to email someone? I have never, ever had an account issue like this in all the time I've played CoH so I'm not sure how to proceed on this. -
Quote:I suspect your issues stem from your server, Exalted. I'm speculating, mind you, since I have not played there.Anyone else feeling this way also. I need some master badges and my police band missons were due to a bug gone somehow. Its just such a pain now to get those old badges back and to get a master team together for harder trials.
I am not sure if exhalted was such a good idea. I am not sure if its just people working incarnate stuff on all their alts. But something is different in the badge mini game.
Has anyone just given up on badges, or stopped. I am at 1280+/- and i think i may be done cause unless you get on a good team the day new content comes out your just gonna have to struggle to get those badges.
I found it easier to get shard badges like Dr. Q than it is to get master keyes and that can take 4 hours just to run it.
Also I am a little sick of master of badges and Day jobs i just finished the 4 new ones and its boring and I dont like day job badges.
Its kind of a rant but I am surprised how hard its been to get master keys,ug, etc...
Speaking from my own experience, on my home server, Champion, it isn't particularly difficult to put together a badge run. There has been a number of us who scheduled weekly (Sunday) badge Keyes runs. We started back in September going every week without fail, and finally nailed Green Stuff just this past Sunday (early Christmas present). The leader has suggested that since we finally wrapped up MoKeyes, he may keep the weekly thing going in the new year, and focus on other trial badge runs.
Badge runs are generally also advertised in the Champion server forum. I always make a point to pop in there from time to time, to see if someone's scheduling a badge run. I've gotten a few Mo badges this way, joining ad hoc groups that advertised on the forums (MoSTF, MoLRSF, and MoCuda, IIRC).
I've found the badges on the new trials, MoM and TPN, to be much more player-friendly (UG too, Preservation Specialist excepted). With the exception of the nightmare badge (what's so "Master" about an RNG?), I've gotten all of the new badges by simply being on well-coordinated teams. We weren't even making any special effort to get the badges. So it appears the devs are moving away from ridiculously difficult badge requirements (I'm looking at you Green Stuff), to challenges that most teams can make a reasonable crack at without the need to resort to 'deviant' behavior. (I think the new badges are probably a bit too easy, but that's only my subjective assessment -- YMMV). -
Quote:From its inception, I have wondered why the TuT was not a cross-server mechanic.Your thoughts about smaller servers are spot on and should really be addressed by a comprehensive cross server Team Up Teleporter I personally would much rather log in and have access to the entire CoH population than be relegated to Freedom, which already has a large population.

Quote:You're correct on this point. I got this badge on my first UG trial which was pretty much unbridled chaos during the final fight. We weren't even thinking about badges, and we barely finished the final fight. I'd recommend simply running the trial a couple times, and see if you can get the badge "by accident."I suspect that this is a badge that we get almost by accident ....
Really, three of the four 'master' badges for the UG trial can be attained relatively easily by simply running with a solid team. Only Preservation Specialist (the bomb badge) requires careful planning and execution. -

Thanks Placta for arranging all of these runs over the last few months. And thanks to all the regulars who made it out week after week.
Congrats to all who finally nailed MoKeyes! I literally yelped with joy when we finished the trial today, when I saw the message confirming a successful Green Stuff run. -
Dinged badge 1300 this afternoon, after finally nailing Green Stuff and Master of Keyes (thanks @Placta). Followed that up with a MoM trial getting four of the badges on that one. I'm also only one TF away from Partner badge, so 1301 is just around the corner.
Edit 12/19/2011: dinged 1301 last night after running a Manticore TF and gaining the Partner badge.
Edit 12/23/2011: up to 1304 after finishing MoTPN last night. Just need that silly Dreamwalker badge to wrap up MoMoM. -
Quote:Hardest: MoKeyes, bar none. Finally got Green Stuff (and the master badge) today after four months of trying.Out of all the Master Runs which do you think is the Hardest to do and optain
and which is the easiest...
Hardest: for me is the MoKeys, even though it's been nerfed it's still a though one.
although the MoLambda wasn't a walk in the park, I'd give the nod to MoKeys
Easiest: MoApex without a doubt
Easiest: MoKahn. Got it on a 41 minute run, a PUG, first try.
