Watch Pulp Fiction, in particular the scene with Butch (Bruce Willis) in the taxi cab, speaking with the driver, Esmarelda Villa Lobos. When he asks her what she'll say if queried about who her fare was, she responds, "Three well-dressed,slightly toasted Mexicans. "

On topic, issue 19 appears to be a mini issue which disappoints slightly, much like the introduction of Cimerora. Cimerora was interesting, but after the ITF, didn't offer much.

However, the hush-hush top secrecy surrounding I20 has this 75-month vet waiting with bated breath.
  2. My worst PuG experience?

    Yesterday.

I'm a 6-year vet of the game, quickly approaching the 75-month point. Perhaps I've been lucky, but one of the reasons I stick around Co* is the generally high standard of players. Not a great deal of elitism in players of this game. But yesterday, for the first time, I experienced unsolicited hostility from a player based solely on my AT.

I was playing my main, who is also my badger (917 and counting), a level 50 Peacebringer, completely purpled out with high-end IOs. I had converted her to red-side a few days ago. A Barracuda SF gets started in the global TF channel which I join.

While the team is assembling, the usual chatter is going on in team chat. Along with myself, three blasters are also on the team, and one of the villain members makes an offhand joke that the fallen heroes should be "pretty good" on the TF. To which I replied I'm not a good PB, but a "great" PB. At which point another villain player pipes up and suggests a "great PB" is a contradiction in terms. I shrug it off -- I get some folks don't like Kheldians -- and assumed the comment was made in light-hearted jest.

However, as the SF is progressing, little comments here and there make it clear that this person is openly hostile to my inclusion on the team. For example, at one point he comments negatively about "radial knockback". Now, bear in mind, with myself, and the three blasters, little was left standing after the initial alpha strike.

And, finally, at the end during the final AV battle, at one point I draw excessive aggro, and my health bar goes down into the red. My SOP for any such event is to hit my panic button, which de-shapeshifts me, and automatically activates Quantum Flight, a phase shift power. While phased, I proceeded to pop off my self heals, and re-apply the PB verson of Dull pain. All in, I was phased for, at most, 5 seconds before I re-entered the fray.

Well, during this brief period, this fellow I gather had tried to heal me. Suddenly, invectives are flying in team chat, and he asks me if I "troll much". I assume he had meant to say "leech much". I'd kept silent the entire TF up until this point, but couldn't take it anymore, so I replied, "Like an annoying dog..." in response to his non-stop negative comments. To which he says, "Fine,I'll just let you die next time." Heh.

I mean, wow. Such hostility. Never experienced such pointed, unwarranted, and personalized hostility in this game. Ever.

But, happily, the SF was completed in just over an hour, and my badger gained another badge for her collection. The fellow in question was then added to my ignore list
  3. Feh. This is lame.

I'll buy this thing for 10 bucks tomorrow. My time is worth more than that, and this is just.......not fun.
  4. Thank you, kind sir. Just discovered a file wasn't being created in my CoH screenshot folder, but it hadn't occurred to me to try and paste to a third party program.

I was able to paste into a Word document, per the suggestion on the link you provided.

    Thanks again!
  5. Subject heading says it all. Printscreen does not appear to work within the Power/enhancement screen. Is there a way to do this?

Might I know what this is? Is there a link I obviously missed or somewhere I can find this patch update?

    Thanks again for your patience.
Whenever an issue's release is imminent, and the game downloads a sizable patch -after- you log out, it's usually a pretty safe bet it's the pre-patch for the forthcoming issue.

That said, it would be better if a formal announcement was posted by the powers-that-be before the pre-patch went active. Not complaining...just sayin'.

Complete collection is $40. Prepurchase is $30. Thus total cost of both is $70.

Prepurchase is $30. Month of play is $15. Total cost is $45.

    $70 - 45 = $25
To make the comparison fully apples to apples, you'd need to add an extra $10 for the July item pack (assuming the item pack is priced @ $10). Your point still largely holds, but the price differential is less. As mentioned in an earlier post, though, some of us value the possession of a physical box, documentation, and up-to-date install disk. Certainly worth $15 in my books. YMMV.

Quite correct, Yogi. Some of us simply like having a physical disk on hand, as well as the physical box, and boxed "goodies". I'll acknowledge it's an entirely frivolous "want", but there it is.

True to a point. But purchasing the boxed package also provides updated documentation (presumably) and, more importantly, an updated install disk.
  12. <sigh>

Who am I kidding. I'll be getting both the pre-purchase next week (?), as well as the full boxed retail expansion in July.

The cheapskate .... er, value shopper ... in me would wait until July for the boxed package, and free month. But, the obsessive-compulsive completionist in me wants the new powersets NAO!

Well played, Paragon Studios. Well played.

As Roderick stated, it's the same client. Install from whichever disk you have on hand, or download from the CoH website, and you're good to go for either blue or red side.
  14. I get past the Connecting #1, #2, etc. But, it gets to a point of "fixing files", and the speed is ridiculously slow, anywyere from 2-20 kb/sec, resulting in a remaining time of anywhere north of 25-50 hours. I've tried several times since yesterday morning, with the same result. Erg.
  15. Free stuff is good. But I must admit, these are more than a bit of a disappointment when compared to the 60, 63, and 66 month rewards. IMO.

Well, I dinged Fashion Designer and Socialite today. That oughta shoulda do it for my badger, at least until GR comes out. A bit cheesed off about Power Liberator. But...meh, not losing sleep over it.

    Joyful badge

I don't see anything unreasonable in what Lothic is saying. And, since the original topic of this thread was settled, it wasn't inappropriate of her to discuss the topic after I booted the door wide open for it. If there's a complaint about threadthacking, it should be directed my way, not Lothic's.

I think her overall argument is extremely strong. The devs, particularly in this last year, have made major changes to several badge requirements. It -does- seem remarkably odd that Power Liberator has been left untouched since it is clearly a broken badge.

Heh, I know the feeling. See my sig.
  21. Just got Leader myself the other day on my badger. I primarily ran the ITF whenever I could, as it gives a good influence-to-time ratio. On average, an ITF run will net you around 5 million influence within an hour of game play. Double that during a double XP event. Leisurly ITF runs (kill alls, or kill mosts) would net around 7-8 million within about two hours of play.
  22. It's all speculation given the general lack of information about anything GR-related.

That said, allow me to add my own bit of (informed) speculation. Recalling the months leading up to the CoV release, I was invited in one of the last waves of beta, and this was still a solid 2-3 months before release. I get the impression GR is not as ambitious as CoV is/was, but nevertheless I can't see a comprehensive beta lasting anything less than a quarter. I personally don't see GR being released anytime sooner than Q2 2010. I actually expect to see a Q3 release myself.

Amen! Count me in that camp, also.
