  1. (( I'd love to pop in for a drink and some conversation as well. Definite change of pace from the Pocket. ))

(( and on another note - glad to see you're back. *hugs!* ))
  2. Paragon City Fire Dept Search and Rescue

This SG is an RP SG specifically for Empathy defenders and controllers as "Combat medics" and/or EMT's.

    Colors are White and Red.

Costume suggestions: If you're rolling a new character, or have influence/Icon costume tokens to burn, feel free to work Gold, Silver/Chrome or Black accents into your design where appropriate (such as chest logo or patterns on sleeves or boots). Natural or Tech heroes should strive for an EMT jumpsuit costume, such as flack jacket and baggy tucked-in cargo pants. This is of course a suggestion - if you have better ideas for your costume, go for it. Just make sure it'll look good when rendered predominantly in white with red accents.

SG logo: flat-sided cross ("Red Cross")

SG Motto: "So That Others May Live"
This is a commonly usd motto for SAR organizations the world over. It's kind of a SAR mantra.

We are affiliated (loosely, at present) with the Pinnacle RP Congress. Interested in forming coalitions with other RPC groups, OR other 'service' SG's such as the Taxibots.

Contact: @Professor Blues (in game), dcnblues (yahoo), or PM me on the Official forums
  3. One other tip for those entering:

If you have multiple costumes, PICK ONE and don't switch it mid-contest. It's impolite, it causes unnecessary confusion and/or frustration as the judge now has to re-evaluate your 'new' costume, and it very well could get you DQ'd. If you really want to show off your 'costume change' routine/battlecry/emote/whatever... ask the judge via Tell first if it's OK.
  4. Such... debauchery... in dis place. I love it. It has de life of my old home. I wonder if per'aps DJ Zero will do a Mardi Gras? Dat would be, ohh... such a party...

Baroness Samedi milled around, checking out the various occupants of the club, until finally settling in at the hero side upstairs bar. Her first lounge spot proved to be rather annoying, as it was within earshot of a drunk retching his guts out... so she found herself near the bar proper.

"Set me up a zombie, cherie... an' don' worry if no coconut shells ta serve it in."

Sipping her drink she couldn't help but overhear talk of some sort of project... maturation chamber? Power source? Growth hormone? The word "Crey" was dropped, and she immediately bristled. Crey was the company responsible for the current state of two of her associates, Lucy de Loccia and the catbeast known as Primal Roar. Nothing good could ever come of them.

  8. I seem to remember a scene in "Tango and Cash" that went something like this:

    "OK, crippling shot, kneecaps, right?"

    "Yeah."

Two gunshots, man falls over dead with two bullet holes in his skull.

    "My sights are off."

    "Mine, too."

    A fond farewell

    ACK! Not you too!!

    *sigh*

Just... I do hope you've properly conditioned I mean TRAINED your replacement...
  10. Whoa.

And I was enjoying your background intel reports too.

Happy trails, vaya con Dios, bon voyage, etc. Don't be a stranger, OK? We'll miss ya lots.

  11. I'd expect that order.

We built ourselves a jail section for a reason.

    And an interrogation chamber.
  12. That's how I look at Hide/Placate.

You're not invisible. You're simply beneath their notice. Someone Else's Problem.

In RP terms... a civilian. A waiter, a tv repairman, a fellow gang member. "hey who's that?" "I dunno, just some chick in a ninja outfit. Harmless."
  13. That's not placate.

    That's AS.

Placate is when you're all aggro on said stalker, pissed that they interrupted your reverie on all things tank-ish... and they wave their hand in your face and .... all of a sudden they can't be targeted anymore.
  14. Placate doesn't drop anything that I'm aware of, it just causes the target to ignore you for x amount of seconds.

Not sure if it 'turns off' damage or status effects due to any tggles the target is running (as in, you placate a stormie running Hurricane, will you still get knocked back?)
  15. I know how MY Super Reflexes scrapper deals with it.

    Practiced Brawler.

Works GREAT. Stand right next to the 'Caner and open up the can o' whupass.

As I recall Energy Aura has Entropy Field, which can be used to dispel status effects. I think KB/KD is included in the list.

Not having played DA or Regen, I can't say what one would use. But I'm pretty sure Regen has an anti-status click effect.
  16. Funny, I don't see Hurricane as 'broken' so much as it's 'difficult to overcome with a melee character.'

    But it CAN be overcome.

ID (well, now, not so much), Practiced Brawler, other knockback/down protections, Focus, leaping attacks, Hover, Combat Jumping, Transference+Transfusion (properly slotted), Short Circuit/Power Sink, Tesla Cage, etc etc etc.

Hurricane by itself isn't an "I Win" power by ANY stretch of the imagination. You just have to use your imagination to come up with ways your character can overcome it.

The same goes for any of the other 'aura toggle' powers in the game. Hurricane just happens to be the one people are focusing on currently... next it could be Icicles.
  17. You only bought it once - you can't stock up on charges.

    More's the pity.

Does it say anything when I've never even seen roadhouse and yet still the first thing I did when checking the new costume item was start chanting toga?

    [/ QUOTE ]

Uh... I belive the film you are referring to is "animal house"

"roadhouse" was a Swayze fight pic.
  20. Careful wit dat lighter, Atta got big-time dynamite stash.
  21. Austin is to Dallas like Berkeley is to, um, Bakersfield.

    Seriously.

Dallas/Fort Worth is HUGE, but kinda... meh.

Austin on the other hand is a fun place.

    As for the commutes... hehe...

Texas recently legalized lane-splitting for motorcyclists.

I have three years navigating traffic jams in the San Francisco Bay Area.

I can cut an hour and fifteen minute plod to 40 minutes. That's 25 miles.

Austin will NOT be an issue when I move there later this spring. (Yah, made my mind up, that's where the Prof is gonna end up.)
  22. There's decent rp populations on pinnacle and guardian, as well as victory.

but I fail to see the problem with your dual-archetype character. Simply rename the iterations slightly.. perhaps one aspect has a real name, another a heroic name... or slightly different spellings of the same name.

(one of the folks I RP with on Virtue has three separate toons of the same 'person' -one a tank, one a controller, and one a warshade. costuming for all three are identical except for the tint of the outfit, and the bio is the same, listing the 'names' of all three aspects.)
  23. Actually thinking of moving to Austin in next few months... but not because I want to be close to the guys running this game, oh nooo.

I just want out of Califreakinfornia.
  24. OK... so... all of this went down last night in an awesome RP (going to have to edit and post the chat log someplace)...

But practical upshot... took on a foe way too powerful for her, battlesuit overheated due to all the juice being pushed through it, 2nd and 3rd degree burns from her pushing it past failsafe in order to 'get the job done'... she foiled the villain's plans, but went into cardiac arrest from shock on the battlefield.

Three minutes clinically 'dead'. No big deal, right? The docs got her heart beating on its own, treated the injuries... but she stayed in a coma for approximately a month.

Which to her passed in about a day's time, in some 'limbo' space that strangely resembled Estes Park Colorado (hey to an electricity blaster, being up where there's a lot of lightning strikes is kinda reassuring.)

I won't say she 'met her Maker' but she did encounter some sort of entity, one that gave her a choice - return and finish her destiny, or leave it unfinished. She chose to finish it.

And came out of the coma. yay, another month of bed rest!

However... in that time one of her dearest friends suffered a psychotic breakdown and went rogue. Seems that if you promise to love and cherish someone 'forever' and then up and 'die' on them... they take it personally. So now she has a rogue heroine to corral (yes my RP friends tend to go for some severe angsty stuff - go figure).

So.. although the death and rebirth was rather minor in the scheme of things, the results are rather convoluted.. which is kind of what we were aiming to do.

Thanks for all your input on this question.
