for pve: i have it in my plant doms spore burst for when something bad happens and i absolutely have no other options recharged. also because it was a cheap set for the bonuses.
for pvp: i have it in my psy blasters will domination and it placates very very very often. people definately hate losing target every few seconds when the rest of the attack chain hammers them all at once. -

I can see a Mind/Nrg Dom stomping most Blasters without too much trouble.
[/ QUOTE ]
all you need is mind/ or /energy. having both is a needless redundancy.
also, i dont think its so simple as just kb to neuter a blaster. i might be biased though because i pvp on sonic/ and psi/ blasters. -
i'll do it.
edit: but tomorrow, i just logged for the night. -
[ QUOTE ]
Confuse and KB are the only "hard" mez's anymore, and yes, they do still work on blasters btw
[/ QUOTE ]
you can build for -kb though. expensive, but not impossible. -
feeling nostalgic, i started thinking about some builds i will never pvp on again that are just rotting at 50.
one of my favorites while it was good had to have been my em/elec brute, i would regularly take on a hero with a heavy in RV and come out on top and if i wanted to i could pop a bunch of enrage and 2 shot anyone. i also had a kinda funky build with tp foe and web envelope so i would trap people in the pools under atlas in RV for fun.
what were your favorites? why? what builds nowadays get you close to the feeling your old loves gave?
p.s. try to keep it positive, there are plenty of other threads for dev hate and lolpvp malice. -
dual taunters is cheating!!!! -225% range with boost range running!
gg though anyway -

i made an elec/therm before they were the foTM
[/ QUOTE ]
lol.
elec/therm was fotm as soon as they announced the proliferation of elec. -
i did 2 10 min 3v3s and a couple hours of sirens call and got 1 javelin acc/dam.
the drop happened about 30 rep(of 70ish) into the sirens run. -

Unfortunately every one of the responses has been to form a team with a goal oriented activity. Not just to team for the sake of teaming or to hang out.
Justice doesn't seem to encourage random aimless head hunting anymore. Soon it will just have signs in Portal Court that say "Get off my lawn."

usually when i want to just kill stuff i pvp. when i am focused on finishing something i pve.
in the 1st case, i tend to play for several hours and dont really feel it at all.
but when im focused for pve, i tend to get instantly tired of the activity after i get a completion dialog from the game. i guess it completes the craving, if that makes any sense. -
i was able to withstand, consistently, a full dom chain several times in sirens on my SO'd no accolade blaster. and i got kills in those situations that i might not have yesterday.
its a new toon though so i could just be getting better.
edit: oh i forgot, i did get a pvpio within my 1st 30 rep of the sitting. if anyone cares to use that as a scale for that. -

Have you even been to Sirens Call on Freedom lately?
[/ QUOTE ]
yes, alot actually on a /dev and a dom. flying /devs are really not all that hard to deal with, it is a zone after all. learn how they use the terrain to their advantage and counter it, dont just whine when they are out of range of AS for you to pick off solo.
[/ QUOTE ]
I agree that they aren't hard to deal with. I take out flying Blasters quite often on both my Bane and my Corr. I am curious though how you think a Stalker is supposed to deal with them. I ask because I take out Stalkers and Doms with regularity on my flying Dev Blaster and have never considered either to be much of a threat. I'd love to know how you think a Stalker is supposed to kill me when I play him.
[/ QUOTE ]
if youre talking unteamed w/o interference a /dev and a stalker are a pretty even matchup.
but then again in a zone its more likely that there will be multiple stalkers ready to help(ks) you finish off something you kite with ET/impale/thunderstrike/etc than a bunch of blasters to mysteriously appear when your target is low on hp. noones forcing you to start with AS afterall. -

Don't bother PvPing if you're going to PvP with a PvE mentality. If you actually wanted to PvP, you would try to be good first before even thinking about any loot you "deserved" for your effort. The learning curve and the reward curve is much, much steeper in PvP than in PvE.
[/ QUOTE ]
Just out of curiosity, how much do you think skill matters in PvP? My experiences in PvE have sort of led me into thinking of the game as being primarily oriented around button mashing... which is probably your point. But I honestly don't quite get where skill enters into the equation. What "levers" do PvPers have at their disposal that require skill to utilize? Range? Corners? Knowing your opponent's attack chain in advance?
[/ QUOTE ]
yes.
movement is a hurdle(sorry) people who are great at pve have a hard time overcoming in trying pvp. supression was meant to help ease that but just annoyed alot of people.
understanding who to pressure in a team v team setting is a very important skillset, imo. even decent pvpers who are great in zones soloing often dont know what to do when both sides are equal.
knowing things like who can mezz you through your protections and if you can survive an encounter long enough to score is something else that comes with experience.
pvp does have skill involved outside of powersets and loot.
about the op: im glad this pvpio subject is getting alot of attention, maybe it'll get some positive fixes soon. -

2. Psi darts. Unless you are going to open with it doesnt matter. The target will be closing with you. So shooting Mental blast, tk blast, will dom to open, follow up to mental, tk again, if they are properly built tk had no knockback at all and by that time they are in psi dart range.
[/ QUOTE ]
the real reason to take psi dart and mental blast is to be able to have constant attacking even while held/stunned by using defiance.
you would be suprised at what it does psychologically when a dom holds you and you never stop hitting them, they usually lose their nerve and back down. -

its a little insulting to think that if someone can counter you you should be buffed or they should be nerfed.
stalkers arent a noob AT but they sure do attract the noob mentality even among experienced players. in fact this thread got real whiney when the discussion focused on them.. im glad i got them out of my system during i6. -
i was responding about doms in particular from your post. i used to run my plant/psi to pvp every once in a while back when they were absolute garbage. before ios even.
-
i used to feel that way but its really hard finding a build that enables it anymore.
kinda makes you wonder...
do we enjoy being the underdog so much that we dont want to change, even for the better? -
[ QUOTE ]
From what I have seen, people who mostly play villains in general are much slower to adapt to changes than people that mostly play heroes. And usually when they do make an attempt at adapting, it is usually just to roll another Stalker and hide (literally) from the problem rather than try to beat it.
[/ QUOTE ]
stalkers have gone well with everything that has been fotm in zones so far.
issues ago it used to be corruptors who would scourge immediately after AS did 50+% dmg on most all targets.
now with doms granting guaranteed lockdown for a couple seconds and kb being borderline op, setting up AS is super easy.
pretty sure this has been said in this thread but worth repeating to show this connection. -
cool. i'm on weekdays by about 6pm est, until about 11(minus breaks for dinner etc.). and on weekends as needed.
im not usually on justice so you'll have to send a tell @Solo One .
does team 'farm mac d' see a window they can work with here yet? -
can my team post here or pm me times you are available for our match so that we can reschedule something with sid/imp/antec? preferably sometime before week 2?
i felt kinda stupid being the only one to show up while they were all ready to go. -
i was talking to my teammates and i gathered we can make it tomorrow somewhere around 9pm? i can make just about any time as long as i know it a couple hours ahead of time.
maybe we could say it on this thread so spectators can plan to watch too? -
thanks for clearing that up.
also, if anyone wants to setup a practice match i'll be in pocket d tonight from 5-6est. -
what about a night widow and a fortunata? are they considered repeating the same AT?
