  1. Eric/Ocho (great first name btw. ), I'm now even more sorry that I couldn't join you and Tamaki the other night. It is sad to see you go, but I hope the new job will be all that you hope for.

If you want to play or just chat, you know my in-game handle.

I don't think that day jobs are the most amazing addition to the game ever, but I do enjoy a few of the powers they provide, and I've been happy to get a few extra badges. If you're refusing to log in because you might be a couple weeks late on your year-long quest to get them all, you're doing it wrong.

Sorry, I can understand not liking them, I can understand thinking they're a poorly designed mistake, but that specific line of reasoning just baffles me.
It sometimes is a hassle moving a character to the "right" location (I'm looking at you Crey Building) and the last thing I feel like doing is going to the pit of Nerva if I just finished a Shard TF for instance.

The whole idea of being rewarded for NOT playing bugs the heck out of me. It gives the people that say "you just wanted to be handed badges" ammo.

The fact remains that the ONLY thing you can do to speed up progression on the day job badges is by NOT PLAYING YOUR CHARACTER. It doesn't matter if you have to log off (and that actually works against some badges like healing/damage). A lot of players like their badge collecting characters, but the players are goal oriented. This means the goal conflicts with their desire to play a character they love. That is a bad idea.
  3. Believe what you will, but I've timed (using a stopwatch on my G15 Keyboard) the battle, and have failed to get the badge after 18 minutes from the time we started hitting Battle Maiden. This attempt was made between the 17th and the 21st.

Stopping the clock when she leaves and only starting the clock when she gets attacked are two different things. I'm sure developer or even Arcanaville would say the same thing about these routines as stopping the clock being a waste of program cycles.

So no... Deceive, nor the Contagious Confusion Proc, seemed to generate any aggro.
That mirrors what I've seen since putting in Contagious Confusion.

The two likely culprits are Malaise's Illusions: Chance for Psionic Damage and Cacophony: Chance for Energy Damage. Or if you are using the special Gamestop enhancements in Confuse.

I'll actually agree with this. On the other hand I think that anyone saying that all AT & power set combos can defeat Trapdoor solo with the current live build is full of themselves.

The first time I did this, I sent in a support ticket as we defeated Battle Maiden in less than 15 minutes, counting only the time she was on the map, and I did not get the badge, I sent in a support ticket and was told when Battle Maiden has retreated from the map, the timer still counts down.

So take that as you may, but this is what was told to me in a support ticket.
That matches what I've observed, so I'm going to have to confirm it.

From all appearances, it is 15 minutes total including time spent off the map. A couple of times we defeated her within 15 minutes only counting the time she spent on the map, but didn't get the badge.

Whether I stay logged out for 21 days to get it before you do, or if I take six months lolly gagging around saying it doesn't matter, the fact that you get rewarded for being logged out is dumber than a sack of hammers.
I'll agree with this. I hope that they never make another day job because of it.
  8. Actually it dropped itself one level deeper into the system32 directory.
  9. It isn't updated for this question (on a long to-do list), but I can answer you.

The story arc badges for Issue 19 (Helping Hand and Keeper of Coral Lore) are end of arc awards. Outside of the Flashback System, they only award to the mission holder. Inside the Flashback System all players on the team get the badge.

Even running the hero arc as a rogue (case A) or the villain arc as a vigilante (case B) will not get you the badge if you fully convert. In case A you are teamed with a hero who is going to get the badge, but you won't. In case B you are teamed with a villain who is going to get the badge, but you won't.

There is a loophole where a rogue could get into a hero base or a vigilante could get into a villain base and use a Pillar to share a flashback to the arc in question. I'm not fully aware of the details, but it involves a possible exploit so I'm not going to go into further details.

Suffice it to say that the two badges seem to be working as intended, and they are unlikely to change.
  10. Why the heck is MIDS 1.91 downloading the 1.9110 file "mhd.mhz" to the "C:\Windows" directory?

Using the latest "autoupdate" I found where it is downloading to, and it really should NOT be putting the file there.

I'm 18 hours away from my 2nd last day job badge on my badge collector. Still almost 21 days from the last after that.

    I'm still playing this character.

With that being said, they have ignored a possible revenue source for a long time now (over six years). I can say (again) that an all or nothing costume does not excite me as it is too limiting and and just cheap by my standards, but I also realize that many people in this game would love it and have no personal qualms about them selling these costumes for a tidy little profit.
How the heck can they have been "Clamoured for as a 'for sale' item nearly sine day one of the game" when they have only been around for only HALF of the game's non-beta existence? Three years, not six. Your hyperbole runneth over.

Last questions for now - if I can create more than one boost, but only slot one, where do the others go? Into my enhancement tray? Can boosts be stored like other enhancements in base storage? I'm guessing the answer to that last one is no.
They are also stored in the Incarnate window, separated from all the "regular" enhancements. Nothing in the Incarnate System is able to be traded (everything is bound on pick up), so the boosts cannot be stored in base storage.

As usual, Zombie Man has compiled a guide:

    or

    Issue 19 Incarnate System.
  14. Just as a suggestion, you can use your third build (unlocked when you unlock the Alpha Slot) to build around your Incarnate abilities.

I don't think people have quite grasped that you can swap out the Alpha Boosts. So you could have:

Build 1 that gets the most help from the Spiritual Boosts.
Build 2 that gets the most help from the Nerve Boosts.
Build 3 that gets the most help from the Cardiac Boosts.

Or have one of those builds as a "generic" build and swap out boosts as needed.

I will agree that if they do try to sell these costumes they will make some money, but I for one will not be buying an "All or Nothing" costume. Too limiting and just plain cheap for me.
The Costume temp powers started in 2007. If I remember correctly the permanent Costume Codes started at Pax 2008, with the PPD Hardsuit.

And I have an explanation as to why you were not getting multiple bifurcations: The Dark Servant. Fluffly has a hold - Petrifying Gaze. I couldn't tell if you were using it yourself in the video, but Fluffy was. As pointed out multiple times in threads about Trapdoor, holds trump Trapdoor's bifurcation ability. Combined with the disorients and slows you were hitting him with, all I can say about you not getting multiple bifurcations is "No ****".

On top of that, Fluffy was also using Twilight Grasp (-regen), and otherwise debuffing Trapdoor.

I very much doubt our community is really suddenly changing into a less friendly version of itself. I think we're just discussing topic that's really near and dear to the "lrn2play" crowd to a degree never before seen, and they're being more vocal than before.

And honestly, that's assuming there's more of it than there has been in the past when things like the LRSF debuted. I seem to recall plenty of "lrn2play" posts back then. I can't be certain, but I'm not convinced this is worse now.
Actually a lot (not all, but a lot) of the "lrn2play" crowd that I've seen are former dedicated PVP players. Given that they've not really had an outlet since Issue 13, I'm not surprised that they've latched onto something harder than "regular" PVE.

Yes, plenty of them. In Mercy there are at least three. One on the ground floor of the initial base, one inside the doors to the main city, and one by the black helicopter line.

In Port Oakes, one is to the west of the arena (within sight of the trainer), one to the north of the Marconville marker, and one on the dead end road heading east.

Make sure the stores are enabled on your minimap. They are usually called Quartermasters, though sometimes they are "Natural Store", "Science Store", etc.

Seems straightforward enough if perhaps a bit tricky to pull off.
It isn't tricky at all. It is a bit time consuming to get the nukes, but it simply bypasses the mine layers completely through an overwhelming blitzkrieg of damage. Nothing in the game can survive this.

All this leads me to believe that nukes will be likely be banned by the developers in yet another "hissy fit" patch (a patch that changes the rules so that the developer's "ideals" are upheld despite player tactics). The problem with those types of patches is that players do one of two things: find another way to overwhelm & ignore the developer rules OR simply ignore the badge because it is too difficult to achieve using "sanctioned" methods.

What that will do is pretty much prevent most players from getting the Master of Tin Mage from that point on.

The AV spawn point is at the last glowing object clicked. As far as the 30 second window, that seems to be fairly accurate.
