    Freebie Friday

So this week is like a little ghetto version of double XP weekend. Nice!

Then you should check out the forums. Makes freedom look timid. Oh wait...
  5. You know, before coh went freedom you could type in /buycoh to take you directly to the login screen instantly. I used that daily, but the command was removed for the f2p model. Is there any equivalent in freedom?

Right, once its said they never go back on their word...

When this game dies and there are no pvp ios to be bought, I'll believe it.
  7. Good news:
One less rare purple set to be used as a "NEW ITEM!"

    Bad news:
We still have "rare" PvP sets...
  8. I only see 2 ways to make this work while keeping both sides semi-satisfied.

Option 1:Remove the glow, put them on the market for a regular price and keep the glowing version for tier 9 so its exclusive and retains value. And to top it off the people that think the glow is gaudy will have the option to buy a simpler version.

Option 2: Leave one of the packs out, like the weapons and auras. This way it keeps something exclusive for tier 9 so the next time its rotated in people have a reason to throw cash at it.

Because in the end its all about money. If they want people to care about these things the next time they rotate through, something about them should be exclusive. And by then the people that complain about not having them now should have acquired enough tokens to get the real deal.
  9. My Spine/Dark scrapper in action:

Extremely cheap IO build with 0 defense outside of its native toggles and combat jumping. Not to mention this was 4 years ago before incarnates. As you can see, I have little to no problems with end and its a pretty effective damage dealer. Dark could use some minor tweaks, but its far from a horrible set.
  10. I think they listened to the wrong people. It seems like they cherry picked the ones that hated pvp because they got stomped the second they entered a zone over the people that took the time to learn the system and enjoyed it.

    Fixing PvP?

Why couldn't we implement new stuff rather than enrage the remaining pvpers? There are plenty of hazard zones to work with. Pvp has been kicked in the groin enough in the past. Leave the tiny pvp population alone.

So, just by paying a subscription fee you should have everything handed to you on a silver platter?
  13. I appreciate the time you put into pvp Z, but it's really not worth it. The one chance this game had at developing a decent pvp community was destroyed. Unless its reverted back there really is no point. The people that still pvp will continue to. If they stayed through the nerf of i13 they'll be pvping until the game ends. You have them, no need to put sprinkles on crap.
  14. You seem to think that they care about PvP when then implement things. They don't. Just look at burnout... or incarnates. PvP is on the bottom of the food chain. It isn't worth the time or money in a game that has a almost non existent PvP crowd.

But I guess if you haven't realized this after so many YEARS of pvp neglect, you never will.
  15. Let me get this straight, you want to add something in game that everyone hates in real life (ATM fees)?

  16. That you can use a invention table in any AE building by searching for "craft center".

  17. For me, I hate the backpack. I made one, got it to 50 and deleted and rerolled as wolfspider {aka huntsman} because I hated the thing so much. As long as that backpack is there I'll never look... well, back.

Its the have nots that complain when its readily available to them if they have the means to obtain them or not. No one is owed anything here. They released these a specific way and a lot of people bought into that. To give them away from the start now would be a bad move IMO.

If you want them so bad, wait for them or pay. Its that simple.

  20. Well, lets say they do put it on the market in a few months. What is exactly wrong with having to wait to get them?

You know they would be available you just have to show a little patience if you don't want to use the VIP method. Let the people that did jump through the VIP hoop have their exclusive costume for a year or so before its made available to the public. I'm personally on the side that thinks they should remain a locked item for tier 9 VIP, but if they are exclusive for a year+ it would soften the blow of having to spend a decent amount of cash to get it.

With that being said, if they do decide to put the VIP costume on a tier everyone can get easily, they had better put something really good to replace it. I mean REALLLLLLLY good. Its hard to match the goodness of costume parts. To me, the best part of the game (costumes) should be one of the final rewards. If anything it makes perfect business sense. Put a highly sought after item behind a wall that can only be broken with a lot of money.
  21. It had to be mostly for pvp reasons. Ice/em tanks were unkillable and a AS from a EM stalker was a instant kill for low hp ATs since you had about .3 seconds to heal before et hit. Now that no one pvps any more can we change it back?
  22. There are 2 sets that I can think of at the moment to put on this list. Energy Melee and Devices.

    Energy Melee:
Take numbers and toss them out the window.
    Single target damage? Who cares.
AoE can AbC its way out of here.

None of that matters. I just cant make the set fun to play due to its long boring animations. I couldnt care less about damage potential as long as its fun to play. The ET "fix" ruined the fun factor of energy melee for me overnight. Long boring animations over and over while I beat up dead corpses on my team? No thanks. I miss my old inv/em tank, but I can't force myself to play the thing. Its just too dull when I have so many better options to choose from.

Then when I take all of that and look at the numbers there really is no reason to play the set other than concept. And I'm sure there are people that do have fun with EM, but from what I see in game they are almost non existent.

    Devices:
I have a 50 dev blaster that's been around since about issue 9 and it seems to get weaker and weaker as the issues progress.
    • Caltrops is pretty lackluster.
    • Smoke nades aren't as effective as they once were.
    • Cloaking device is a end hog that doesn't even give full invisibility. Why choose that when you could just go super speed for the same effect along with a travel power? Not to mention any blaster can get something similar with the concealment power pool.
    • Trip mine is very situational and almost worthless on teams.
    • I'm not even going to get into time bomb...
    • No buildup
When you look at devices compared to other blaster secondaries, there is little reason to take it other than concept.
