Psi/em sounds fun. First you'll duel my tall tank, then I'll bring my arch/dev (same logic from last post applies). Then after we can do a nice even psi/em vs psi/em duel. I rarely play that toon since its so damn easy to play, but I'll make a exception this time. -

As far as your "other" pvp toons, pick one (my guess would be the regin son). Either that or we could do something that was actually fun, like ranged vs ranged? A even match should be something like your mind/fire vs my arch/dev. That way I might actually loose. -

Chances are, as an emp you'll want phase anyway, so it makes more sense to just go with stealth+stealth IO, even with Illusion. SI is also a huge end hog, and it really has no advantage over stealth+stealth IO. Unsuppressing in half the time is pretty meaningless.

I'm assuming you'll want to be a team emp correct? Personally for a emp on a troller I'd go ill/emp for the built in invis, but earth emp would work just fine if you don't want to reroll. Emps should focus more on healing and buffing rather than damage dealing so the primary doesn't matter that much.

Not sure if its true or not, but I've heard that ouro mishs have a higher drop rate than regular mishs, meaning you have a better chance of getting a purp from them. A friend of mine runs ouro mishs all day and gets a nice amount of purple drops and tons of merits. That might be a option to look at if the higher drop rate rumor I heard was true. Not only will you have a better chance of getting purps, you'll also get merits in the process.

Kin isn't that great anymore. In fact it kind of sucks in PvP. As far as skipping the leap pool on a squishie, not really a option with the new hold rules. Without acro you'll have no hold resist at all and It would be hard, if not impossible to get the desired 41 points of kb protection. You'd be better off rolling something like a earth/therm or earth/ta.

Why I suggested what I did. damage dealing Pool powers for all ATs are broke. Ancillary and Patron ranged powers for Melee ATs can be declared as broke as well.
But ya, most melee ranged attacks deal too much damage but I prefer not touching Primary and Secondary power sets. It's when Tanks, Stalkers, Scrappers include their patron and ancilary ranged powers that they become broken ranged ATs. -
People like playing whats easy. Easy = Regen scrappers. Some guy made a comment last night about not playing squishies because he couldn't stay alive on one.

As stated by others, If you are exempted down and kill a lower lvl toon you will get the pvp io at your natural level, you were 50 so you got a 50. If your friend had gotten the drop the recipe would have been at his natural level of 41.
Rod is correct that while you can easily farm kills using the arena if you have a great then +3 spread on the characters you have a 0% chance for a drop (you should notice that if you are killing a -3 or great character you will not get any rewards: no influence, no prestige, no insp and therefore you do not get any chance for the RNG to roll for a drop). -
Ok, so last night a friend wanted to test his level 41 build against me. Since I had no toons at the same level I grabbed a 50 SO'd blaster and headed to the ghost town (aka warburg) to even out the levels. Just so happens that I got a pvp drop on the first kill. Checked it and even though he was level 41 the pvp recipe was level 50.
Seems there's more to this than some of you originally thought. -
You'll want hack, disembowel, headsplitter confront and build up from your primary and fast heal, recon, QR, DP, integration, instant healing and mog from your secondary. Power pools should consist of concealment for phase, leadership, leaping and speed. Personally I'd go with body mastery for focused acc and laser eyes, but weapon mastery is a option for web nades and targeting drone.

Vet rewards seems to be having a issue recently. I was actually 2 months over due before I noticed and placed a petition. My vet reward was awarded the next day (on Christmas eve no less).
A petition should take care of it for you. -
I recently made two builds for my fire/kin troller. One has 35% smashing/lethal def and 65% smashing/lethal resistance. The other has 43% s/l def and 24% s/l resist.
Problem is I'm having a really hard time on picking one to respec into. On one hand, one build takes less hits, but will get hit for more when he does actually take a blow. The other will get hit more often but will take less damage when hit but has the advantage of mez protection. Both have almost the same amount of recharge (around 50%).
I'm no number cruncher so I'm not sure what option would be better, more def or more resist? What should I do? Any suggestions or ideas? -
