As the inmate Tom surfs the internet, sips his beer and enjoys watching scantily clad carnies gyrate to techno music, he turns and says, "Gotta love our tax dollars at work huh Mike."

Perfect. Thanks mac.
If you're referring to the fact that shatter armor takes tohit IO's in mids rather than melee, yeah its still there. -
lol
I think I've been hit with mace beam once or twice. Either that or someones grandmother was trying to work me over. -
Quote:True, just pointing out the obvious. Forum posts, especially ones that the devs watch is a great way of getting things shut down. What else is new? They nerf everything. Powergamers are still going to find another way.
The PvP Reward system is a joke.
I'd actually like to see them nerf it and watch the prices fly through the roof. The forum thread would be priceless. -
I have a arachnos soldier sitting at 50 that I'm thinking about slotting up as a bane for PvP. I can tell now that its going to be a extremely tight build. Problem is I'm having a hard time deciding on what powers to choose over what and would like to hear from a experienced bane player. Any info would help. A full build would be nice but I can easily settle for a skeleton build or just some solid advice as a reference point on where to go with it.
Thanks in advance. -

The only real way of evading without hiber or phase atm is breaking LOS. If RV wasn't such a poorly designed zone it might actually be a viable option. RV for the most part is one big open zone. If you compare it to other zones that were actually designed for PvP like warburg, sirens call and even bloody bay, they all have buildings and other objects to break LOS throughout the map.
Hopefully in the future we'll actually get a PvP map that was designed with PvP in mind and not just another copy paste like RV is. On second thought, since it seems like they want us to die and have no chance of evasion outside of hiber and phase, it will probably end up being a open field or something. -
Quote:Forgive my ignorance, but does that mean that once you get a drop its only available for the toon you get the drop on?The only way I'd be comfortable increasing the drop rates is if we could make then Bind on Pickup, tech which we don't currently have.
I'd prefer the horrid drop rate we have now over that.
Like I said before, the drop rate should stay the way it is now, random and rare, just give us another way to buy them with a new type of pvp currency system. That way it would give us a shot at getting that elusive glad jav proc without playing the market for a week or farming until our eyes bleed. Make it hard to get the amount of "pvp currency" we need to buy said recipe, but at least we can earn it doing something we actually like doing... -
Personally I think they should add some type of award system to accompany the random drops so we have a alternate source of getting recipes. Something like the merit systems, but less sucky.
-
Looks like I missed out on the draft thanks to real life ish over the weekend.
Oh well, I probably would have ended up on team eternal pain anyway. My tall tank would fit in quite well. -
I have a kin elec defender and you're pretty much forced into getting phase. With stealth and invis/grant invis you should be able to get 41 points with no problem.
Thats one of the problems with defenders. You really can't have a escape power and perception since it doesn't have FA or hiber in any of its epic pools. From what I heard they will be looking into defenders epics, but that probably wont be for awhile. For this reason you'd be better off rolling a elec/kin corruptor. It doesn't drain end quite as fast, but it has the benefit of FA or hiber and scourge. -
Earth is a solid primary for trollers, but rad falls short thanks the the toggle drops from holds and other i13 nerf related issues. You'd be better off rolling a earth/therm since the debuffs aren't toggle powers.

I wouldn't even consider WP as good. It can work, but the only truly good set for scrappers is regen.
As far as a MA/Fire, personally I wouldn't waste the time or inf on it. -
Quote:Agreed, my fire/ss has phase with about 2750 HP. I rarely die unless a coordinated team gets the drop on me with some massive burst damage or phase isn't up. Outside of phase wp and especially inv can take more damage than my fire ever could.fire is only squishier than ss/inv if you dont take phase.
the recharge on healing flames synergizes very very well with phase.
invuln can't reset 100% with a phase (dull pain's recharge is way too long).
Fire is definitely the way to go, but a lot of people seem to have trouble playing fire tanks and brutes for some reason and would rather go with inv or wp because they "feel" more sturdy.
Then again those same people usually end up rolling regins. -
As far as defensively, Inv is a beast. You have high res, moderate def, a +hp/heal power and decent protection against slows and end drain. WP is basically just a big bag of HP with no heal unless you pick up aid self, which quite honestly sucks. Its major advantage (rttc) was nerfed to hell in i13. WP is tough, but I'd pick inv over wp. Only thing that kind of sucks about inv is its a very tight build.
If you want something thats a little more squishy, but can deal more damage and has a great self heal, go with ss/fire. -
You can pick up fighting and grab tough for a extra 3-5% resistance or take phase. The choice is pretty obvious. There is the option of dropping the leaping pool for fighting and just run super speed, but you'll have to invest heavily into pvp ios to hit 41 points of kb protection, and to be honest its just not worth it.

Heres a moderately cheap fire/ss tank build I threw together to look at.

The reason to go against broad sword is because elec melee, spines and EM are all better. If you want a mediocre set, bs will do just fine.
-
I remember when claws was actually good on stalkers. Supastar had one called dynasty (i think that's what the name was) that was a beast. Then it got nerfed before i13 and pretty much ruined the set. I felt bad for the guy, first his EM/WP TekniQ got nerfed with the ET fix, then he rerolled a claw and it got nerfed shortly after.
-
For starters, you need at least 41 point of kb protection. And personally I'd slot your travel powers a bit better so you can catch up to teammates that need heals ect. You can steal some slots from phase and acro since they only need to be one slotted (unless you need a extra slot in acro to get the desired 41 kb points). You also have some weird slotting going on, like soothe for instance. Over all if you fix the problems listed above it wont be a half bad build, but it definitely could be better even without purps.

Quote:You'll find them already herded in a corner in sirens. The fire/kin is good, you just herd all the heroes into a corner and Fulcrum/Rain of Fire. Most everything will die, you may need to clean up the occasional Tank with fireball.

That, or you can use it to rek "fiteklubbers" in warburg.
