There's three characters I hope don't die.
1) Synapse. C'mon, that would just turn the whole SSA thing into a joke. Bad stuff happens to Synapse all the time, killing him off would be too easy.
2) Numina. She's already dead! It'd be unoriginal, and it would be waaaay too easy to bring her back (you wouldn't even have to come up with a half-***** comic book style resurrection.).
3) Citadel. Citadel is just way too anonymous. And also a robot. If you want to be all "look at us, we are killing a major character!!" you don't want the reactions to be either "Citawho?" or "can't they just build another one?" Also, if he's not the dumbest sentient robot hero ever, he'll have his brain on a backup disk somewhere.
(Back Ally Brawler gets an honourable mention because A) he's not in the Freedom Phalanx, and B) because it'd be kinda bad taste after his namesake Dev got sacked)
So I really hope they man up and kill off someone significant. -
Quote:Well, first off. Does it matter? Even if they bumped the Winter Lord up to raid difficulty to require 12 people, at a minimum, to succeed... why actively preventing anyone from trying it at 11? Or 8? or 2?Did they "just slap a raid label" on it or did they actually make changes to it that make it more difficult? Don't think I've actually seen that answered yet, but I could be mistaken.
Secondly, even if you're right, that'd be exactly the kind of trend I don't want to see happening. I don't want to see "existing" team content turn into raid content. Add content. Don't replace content. -
Quote:Slapping a 'raid' label on stuff that used to be team content is a change. It might be a change you're fine with, but it might also be the indication of a trend that others want to nib in the bud.But..they're...not.... I don't get why adding some team-required content = "discouraging they way you've played the game for seven years". It's not discouraging anything.
Amusingly, certain other mammoth MMOs that shall remain nameless are actually less restrictive, allowing you to enter "team only" content alone if you want. Sure, you'll probably get creamed if you don't vastly out-level the content, but you can. Personally, I don't see a reason to put a hard minimum on any content.
That said, the LFG tool probably needs a hard minimum as it stands right now. Otherwise it'd keep dumping you alone into team content, if there's not enough people in the queue. -
This is true. But, as the case is here, if the thing you're not happy with is your MMO adding features that discourage the way you've played the game for seven years, then you're probably not the problem. At least not solely.

Quote:...are you saying that a level 30+ PC isn't in the same 'bracket' as a retired heroine without her powers? Here in CoH, the devs have taken an underdeveloped female character - who nonetheless possesses some significance as not only a relative of two of the game's most prominent NPC heroes but also a lengthy career as a crimefighter - and had her killed off with her guard down by an Arachnos agent who otherwise wouldn't be in her fighting bracket.
That is exactly the kind of thinking that's plagued red-side for too long. We are, at best, sidekicks to the real characters.
(On a side note to the developers: For Christmas, I'd very much like an opportunity to stuff Hardcase in a refrigerator. Thanks!) -

Quote:I thought knockback and knockdown was exactly the same thing, mechanically.Knockdown is actually more effective mitigation Knockback becuase where Knockback is typically followed by everyone chasing each enemy with single target damage since they can no longer be aoe'd, knockdown can be followed up with more aoe resulting in the greatest mez of all: Death.

Quote:My sister's pet peeve is when a company releases <something traditionally aimed at guys> in an attempt to rope in female consumers, and the product is exactly the same, except pink.Heh, in this case, I could go with "less is more"
However, to be perfectly serious, I fully expect women to get "girly" versions of the gender-neutral stuff men get just by default these days irrespective of what set we're talking about. -

Quote:Well, I didn't, so there!A lot of us on Union played the keyes few hours ago and . . . . . we all love this new version
This will now be run more often
(Yes, I fully blame Paragon Studios for my busted power supply AND the fact that my local store is slow in getting a replacement.)

Quote:He's not a misogynist as such, but destroying the entire Midnight Squad essentially to impress the object of his unrequited affection does suggest he's got ... issues.
Oh certainly. He's the archetypical creepy d&d nerd who had never met a woman outside of his testostetone driven fantasies and has constructed his own (very wrong) brand of romantisism. He treats women (and technically everyone else) like objects that solely exist to satisfy his desires. I'm sure there's a word for this (plain ol' chauvanism?), I just don't think it's misogeny. -

Never again complain that the Devs are slow to react.

Quote:*ahem* I think natural selection might be trying to tell you something.Oh, I used to be allergic to chocolate as well. In fact, when I was younger, I was pretty much allergic to EVERYTHING. Including eggs, chocolate, peanut butter, all forms of milk (including my own mother's milk..as an INFANT you pervs!), bees, cats, poison ivy (my reaction was far worse than most), ummm... I am sure there is more that I can't recall right off. The cabinet under my bathroom sink was always stocked with sample cases of liquid benadryl given to us by my pediatrician.
I applaud your fighting spirit! Stupid nature.

Quote:I'd rather get "shafted" by the occasional patch, than to suffer through damnable localized servers.Nice that the Eurozone gets the shaft again during an update.
Love the way they smash our peak period time and time again.
Oh well roll on December 20th.......
If patch days is the price to pay, I pay it gladly. -
Quote:I've soloed the Hydra while the rest of the team was lying around begging for wakies. *sigh*Waits for the post from someone who did the DfB trial solo...

Quote:I have zero issue with Longbow and Ms Liberty being extremist nutcases. What I do have issue with is when they are presented as such, while the story makes it clear that they aren't. That makes them unintended villains, and that's kinda sad.So basically the entire point of her death was solely to piss people off so that whoever is pulling the strings can make their next move? All while the Heroes are left scratching their heads and unable to fight back.
Yeah, suddenly I have no problems with the way Longbow is written any more. I saw a few posts in this thread alone about how bad Ms. Liberty and Longbow are. Now I have zero issues with it.
The difference is that while Longbow and Ms Liberty are supposed to live up to some kind of heroic ideal (even if when don't do so in practice, it's still written like they do), villains don't (necessarily) live up to any ideals.
Hurting someone for the sole purpose of hurting your real enemy, or make them come at you stupid, is a perfectly villainous thing to do. As a story, I don't have a problem with that. Of course, the execution can leave something to be desired (I haven't played through it myself, but I'm guessing it does). -
You do have the option of letting just one of your characters go vigilante. That'd let you experience red-side when you need to.
