I posit that Kid $Name works in more cases than $Name does. I find it easier to swallow that my hero will have a teen sidekick sometime in the future when he's famous, than that my hero, with an established backstory, somehow is a teen for this arc.

This arc is kinda a Teen Titans version. It runs on sillyness and some suspension of disbelief required to accept the static timeline (Clamor, the King still being around). I know I enjoyed the arc immensely as a fun non-canon possible future distraction.

No wait. It has one. But he's only that due to his introduction/idle/etc dialogue. His missions are just as cookie-cutter and forgettable as the rest of them.

Currently I always just use "Kid $name" whenever I'd normally use "$name" to signify your "teen" status, but this doesn't always work (especially if your toon is already named something like Kid Valkyrie).

Just don't do it. There are as many instances of kid sidekicks without "kid" or "lad" names as there are with: Batman/Robin, Green Arrow/Speedy, Captain America/Bucky, etc. Just have the arc note at the start it's assumed your character is a teen hero, with or without an explicit adult mentor.

It deals more than half the damage of a PBAoE. Comparable to Soul Drain. They're the best AoE damage a Dark Meleer have. Of course, then there's Shadow Maul, but look at it this way. Shadow Maul can reliably hit two, three enemies. Dark Consumption only needs to hit 2.5 that to deal the same damage, and in one third the time. Not hard when you're surrounded.

It's not a good ATTACK due to its long recharge. But the damage is NOT laughable. That's Consume.

That said, a memorable passing for a rare, already memorable mob is good. I remember a 5th experiment with Fire Powers having a death cry of something like "Tanks ruptured! Can't.. .get... suit... off! NOOOOOOO!" Chilling.
