    Hardcore Weekend

Lightweights. Clearly the ONLY power available should be brawl and sprint, and all enemies should spawn as EBs.

I like the OP's original suggestion, but don't we already have this in the form of Ouroborus additional mish parameters?
  2. I've found dropping down behind them with a DB/WP scrapper and shivving them in the pods has worked for me in the past, the few times I've PvPed in RV.

I think the real trick is to see them coming first, use terrain to break line of sight, remain highly mobile, and possibly have some KB or other mez of your own in your pocket. Obviously a few BFs won't hurt if they do draw a bead on you, but I reckon they should be fall-backs, not principle strategy.

Dominators - they don't have many hit points.

    Ladies?

i13 will include legions of vehicle mounted giant monsters that gives huge XP awards and a rare recipe when defeated, double as mobile SG bases, and hunt down farmers.

    Animated Hair

We're okay as long as we don't say her name 5 times. BTW - does anyone know if she has a hook for a hand?

Also - animated hair would be great, but I'd rather have all the other stuff the devs think are more important first.

Besides if it ever got implemented I'm pretty certain she would vanish in a puff of logic.
  5. It's a good idea. Problem is that unlike Crab/Bane and Night/Fort, Mus don't have two distinct paths - I'm not sure crowbarring in another stealth AT sub-option is the way forward. For instance I would rather see one path (Mu Striker?) loaded up on ranged attacks, buffs and debuffs; and the other (Mu Adept) slanted more towards holds, immobs, and short ranged attacks.

I'm having difficulty seeing it fit into the current SoA framework and Mu models/animation, not to mention differentiating the starting and two secondary paths stylistically without having to create new concept art.
  6. The real problem with farming is that folks just won't shut up about it. Ever.

Honestly, it's like the forum version of the Candyman. Mention it five times in a thread and the spirit of repressed geek hostility turns up and messily guts the thread until it either gets derailed with forumite lols, "lulz movable stubbles" and more emoticons than you could shake a pizza box at; or locked for being a deliciously irony filled dysfunctional love-in by posters that can't differentiate between deconstructing arguments and disassembling other posters.

I for one welcome our arable overlords.
  7. Curious - how many times are you chaps expecting an apology? Despite the ball drop I'm pretty impressed at the turnaround the situation has received. Also - give it up to Ghostraptor for admitting there was a cockup.

Though the situation is a bit weak, today's responses leave me optimistic that the situation is on the way to getting resolved and that with any luck NCSoft have learned a thing or two about scheduling payment system changes.

I'm hoping anyone affected comes back and continues to enjoy CoX (fnarr fnarr).

    Whatever your taking...I WANT SOME!

Str 3 fairtrade co-op coffee, one mug of, strong.

Down with the war walls would be excellent - I'd like to see city zones joined by intermediary highways, no-man's lands, or a sweet long bridge between the islands of Paragon (Talos, PI, etc). These intermediary zones could be patrolled by one or two new groups of badass roadwarrior types, Mad Max style. Maybe even vehicle mounted bad guys - motobike nuns, devil worshiping cab drives, etc.

Played a scrapper to fifty, another to 40+ and a third is well on the way to 40. I though when villains was released that I'd enjoy brutes too. I loved the idea of fury and being able to scrap with tanker sets. My highest brute so far is probably 12. I just can't get the handle on why I dislike them so much, I actually prefer stalkers to brutes and I dislike them quite a bit too.

    [/ QUOTE ]
Brutes can play like stunted not-Scrappers at first. Once you get a good head of fury going on a mission you're a juggernaut of destruction. Once you've got a bit of survivability and a decent attack chain you can solo the early game quite quickly, and contribute in teams (though your fury will be less impressive in teams at this stage in the game).

I've dinged a SS/FA, found it a very good intro to Bruting - fast and quick low level attacks, an early gem in Knockout Blow, passable shields and a fantastic self heal. Rage, a +acc/dam clickie at lvl 20 that's actually worth pushing Stamina back for, Consume a bit later for added endurance mitigation, some nice PBAoE later on (Burn, Footstomp) and a self rez to cap it all off. Does have drawbacks - needs knockback mitigation, and Tough from the fighting pool later on doesn't hurt.

I'm currently having a lot of fun with Elec/Elec - added bonus having energy component in your attacks, Chain Induction fixed so that it's quite devastating, a truly magnificent tier9 on the Elec Melee, quite fast moving and positional compared to (at least early-mid) SS/FA.

    I love CoX!

    [ QUOTE ]
I think one of the things about CoX is you can dip in and out or play it hard.

    [/ QUOTE ]
I nearly laughed my morning coffee out of my nose.

Time to get this out of my system:

    Everyone loves CoX.
I love a bit of CoX in the morning but I so rarely have time before work.
My friends and I spent most of the weekend playing CoX hard.

    Okay. I am done now.
  11. Firstly - you's best be not touching ma SquidLobsterMans.

Secondly - I want an end to the farming of animated hair in pvp.

Finally - a low gravity zone (1/10th normal) with edible scenary populated by edgy 90s extreme characters covered in pouches. Filled with love.

and what about those who don't read the forums? They haven't even got the warning WE have!

    [/ QUOTE ]

That's a jolly good point. Hope NCSoft sends out an e-mail warning their users of the issue, unless they're holding out for one or more new alternatives as alluded to by GhostRaptor.

It seems worse because users you know (and forumites no less) are affected, but I'm also confident that NCSoft are keen to give you just as simple means to continue to forking over dosh RSN, no worries.
  13. [ QUOTE ]
I can quite easily see this causing a load of people to leave, as they have no other means of paying their sub without considerable inconvenience. NC need to offer simple and viable alternatives NOW, before anyone's billing cycle is up.

    [/ QUOTE ]
Before breaking out a extra large can of melodrama I have to ask: how many people will this affect?

. Under 18s that can't get credit cards
. People with bad credit ratings that can't get credit cards
. People that do not want credit cards
. People that cannot get time cards

I don't disagree that it looks like poor service by not issuing any sort of warning after Maestro announced the new policy a year ago, but how large a cross section of the player populace is the above?

It's not an ideal situation that could lose a few subscribers, but is it Dooom[tm]?
  14. [ QUOTE ]
Oo, sounds interesting. I may have found my next alt.

    [/ QUOTE ]
I forgot to mention, DB/WP also adds Brute-like tendancies because with 'Rise to the Challenge' (aggro toggle that gives +Regen for each enemy in range) you have an additional Brute-like incentive to wade into the middle of a group of mobs.

Beware of crying out, "No worries, my regen is awesome!" and Spartarring into a large mob and face planting in front of your team, much to their amusement.
  15. [ QUOTE ]
I know it is a bit like comparing apple and orange. But I only just started playing scrapper and I have been playing brutes for a while. I want know how brute compare to scrapper, for example, damage output or survivability, etc.

    [/ QUOTE ]
Fool - apples have by far the superior DPS.

I find myself much more compelled to continue fighting to the very last drop of health or endurance as a Brute, whilst a Scrapper always feels alot more precise whether specialising in crowd control, or single target takedown.

That said I found my Dual Blades/Willpower Scrapper blurring the lines a lot more because DB combos introduce a time-critical factor into fighting in a similar way to Fury - that hunger to leap onto the next critter mid-way through an attack chain so as not to 'waste' the resulting combination which other Scrappers lack by nature.

On a face-to-face basis I'd generally put my money on the Scrapper because its special ability does not require building up. That said I'm sure that same Scrapper would be reticent about facing a /Stone Brute.

A General Discussion thread being derailed into self-congratulatory forumite back-patting? No, you shock me!

Clearly this is all a set-up for City of Heroes Merch. I for one look forward to my 'Chocolate Arachnopops' ("makes the milk go all spidery!") and my 'I got my toon to lvl 50 and all I got was this mild case of agrophobia' t-shirt.

    Romulus!

Who was the chap talking to Romulus before he got his Super Zoanoid Form with silver trimming and personal purple fluffie entourage?
  18. Apologies for thread necromancy - I found SoA to be most devastating when you had 4 of them in a team, the other 4 made up of a good mix of other villains ATs. In particular I remember running a lot with teams roughly consisting of 1-2 fellow Crabs, A Widow or Bane, 1-2 MMs, a few Brutes, and 1-2 Corruptors and/or Dominators. Even if each SoA had only take 2 of the 3 Tactics we had a buff umbrella made of sheer win.

    It was devastatingly effective.
  19. Curious then - what's the solution? Bigger servers? Software overhaul? Arrange a temporarily larger bandwidth connection to coincide with future DXP? Enforce lower zone limits so that second instances of city maps happen sooner to spread the load (assuming this is or can be automatic)?
  20. Sir_Helm

    powers you like?

An Energy Absorbtion Defense Resistance set: a set of toggles that converts the portion of resisted incoming damage (and mez for the mez prot toggle) types into health, endurance, damage buffs. Following a typical pattern of a few autos, a Smash Lethal, Fire/Cold and En/Neg (or combined), a Damage to Regen toggle, and an aura that gives +Res for each enemy nearby and a bit of taunt. Tier9 - Total Conversion clickie that does the above for all but psionics. Balanced by making Resistance levels (particularly Smashing/Lethal) a bit lower than average, make the toggles a little more expensive to run, and large Def penalties.

A 'deflect' power or powerset that sends part of a successfully defended attack back at foe. Could control the percent of damage sent back by slottin for damage and capping at 'moderate', 'high' etc depending on how nasty you want to make it. Stalkers beware :P
  21. Mornings and later evenings were fine. Midday and early afternoon were quite bad when I popped on briefly, but fortunately I was off doing other things in RL.

Overall I had a good time. DXP weekends are a two-edged sword though - I can't think of a simple way NCNC can temporarily beef the servers to count for the additional load.

    my cry for help

    [ QUOTE ]
I don't know many people who get an Energy blaster to 50, they usually get beaten up by thier teamates for redistributing mobs to the four corners of Paragon City long before that...

    [/ QUOTE ]
Been there, done that. Then I made a Peacebringer.

I think as long as you don't take Explosive Blast, time Energy Torrents so they don't go off before Scrappers do a nice Melee Cone/PBAoE chain you're generally okay. Learning how to blast critters into walls as opposed to the next mob is also a valuable Energy Blaster skill.
  23. [ QUOTE ]
There is a general feeling it's about time for the basic announcement of Issue 13 should be starting soon.

    [/ QUOTE ]
Not me. I'm good ta, still enjoying the game, plenty left to do despite dinging 5 toons and on the way to 3 more. If you mean "*I* have a general feeling..." then fair enough.

The reason the playerbase gets shirty and angsty sometimes is because its formed of mmorpg and/or comic book geeks, two geek subcultures renowned even amongst their own geek bretheren for a shocking lack of manners, self awareness and social conduct.

Take your time, dev chaps. I'd rather see announcements when they're ready, not when forum whinging reaches fever pitch.
  24. Experiment: next time you get significant lag and netgraph is green, try whacking graphics settings down to minimum and see the difference. This isn't so much of a trial because you can now save you existing settings and revert once done.
