Lag in mission maps
I've noticed it's taking longer than normal to load this weekend, but I'm not seeing any lag in missions or outside.
And that's with two machines on the same connection, one of the machines which has graphical lag in certains areas of COV.

From 1130am-12pm Sunday the lvl 35-38 Villains team I have been on has suffered extreme spikes in lag for about 5 minutes at a time over a 30 minute period, occasionally booting off a team member. It looked like it cleared up at the end of the mission, but I needed to head off to get some RL stuff done so I don't know if it persisted.
I've been getting similar spikes yesterday - take on mob, suffer lag hell, feel useless until mob is dead and lag disappears shortly after - but since Firefox was also reloading sites slower than a tranquilised snail at the time (After I closed CoX see see if it was a prob my end, of course), I couldn't tell if it -was- Union, or just Virgin Media having a hissy fit at the wrong time. :\

Frustrating as it is, it's also TOTALLY normal on DXP weekends. It's ALWAYS like this, due mainly because of the rubbish internet infrastructure at the German datacentre.

Ditto - a few lag spike this evening is all I've had and they haven't lasted for long; they were frustrating though (helped with the debt badges mind).

And if this is true then no wonder EU servers get so sodding empty. People don't enjoy a frame by frame game. Had loads of it tonight....on Zukunft. Everyones left the game.

Also had no problems until tonight when I DCed 3 times in 15 mins . This on Defiant Villains the rest of the weekend on Defiant heroes.

Whats really been annoying me is I dc by just standing in a zone.

Mornings and later evenings were fine. Midday and early afternoon were quite bad when I popped on briefly, but fortunately I was off doing other things in RL.
Overall I had a good time. DXP weekends are a two-edged sword though - I can't think of a simple way NCNC can temporarily beef the servers to count for the additional load.
Well, I had major fun yesterday.. About 4ish I had a MAJOR lag bomb in Talos. So bad that even messages to team chat were taking 2 or 3 minutes to appear, some got lost. My netgraph was solid yellow (no red oddly), and I couldn't move anywhere without rubber banding. Took me near 10 minutes to actually enter the mission, and then it was ok.
After the mish, I tried to alt to another character, and I couldn't get back in to the game. Constant "lost connection to db server" errors when selection the server. Took 2 hours before I could reconnect...
I'm rather fed up with the German datacentre... It's ALWAYS like this on DXP weekends, and there's no need for it! The servers themselves can handle the load, it's the sodding datacentre that can't!

Curious then - what's the solution? Bigger servers? Software overhaul? Arrange a temporarily larger bandwidth connection to coincide with future DXP? Enforce lower zone limits so that second instances of city maps happen sooner to spread the load (assuming this is or can be automatic)?
I don't know... Logic would dictate that datacentre bandwidth upgrades would help a lot, but there could also be problems in the netcode the game uses. There's a LOT more data being transfered down the line to every user now than there was a few issues ago, and this HAS been seen to cause extra lag...

I've had similar problems since saturday night, as (it seems from other posts) have others, with varying intensity! For myself this presents as constant lag, both on map and in the gameworld itself. I don't know if anyone has already mentioned this, but Vista users may be aware that SP1 was released this weekend, and i've only been having these problems since installing it.
I understand what you we're saying about the Datacentre FFM, but maybe it isn't all their fault??(It'd make a nice change tho eh )

I would assume that its a bandwidth issue and not the netcode as the american servers have a lot more users on at the same time and (afaik) they dont get the same issues as we do.
Perhaps it's time to move the servers to america. Dont they do the software upgrades anyway? Support can be handled from anywhere, a lot of companies do have their servers a few hundred miles away and it's not that hard to manage.

Don't know if anyone has already posted this, but every team I go on in Villans Union server, constantly gets unplayable lag in the missions.
It's not just me but the whole team. This has happened from saturday night!
Not very nice to see during double xp!
Discuss, flame, or agree.. sorry just really annoyed atm.
