The heal is so small maxxed slotting doesnt help. Keep ED for end consumption AND Heal but heal is the last thing you wan tto go for when slotting ED. The advice above wants you to drop an endurance recovery tool totally and slot your other endurance recovery power for heal. That is not good advice IMO.
[/ QUOTE ]
You didn't read what I wrote at all. The recommendation to slot for heal referred to Overload, not Energy Drain. ED referred to Enhancement Diversification. Slotting Overload for heal is very good advice.
[/ QUOTE ]
I may play with doing that as i level, As of right now the build I just posted seems like, in theory it will work very well. However you can make almost anything work theoretically lol, but in practice its a whole different story =D.
[/ QUOTE ]
It's true that there's a difference between theory and practice, but Brutes are generally more forgiving in practice than the numbers look in theory - especially while solo.
When I'm playing my SM/WP it almost feels like I'm cheating. -

I have a snipe on one character - my Dark/Cold Corruptor. Oddly enough, I never had any trouble - even with TOs and no IntRed slotting - using Moonbeam in the middle of a fight, even with mobs in melee. -

Thanks for all of the info guys, really appreciate the help. I just dinged 32 with my Ar/Traps and have been enjoying it thus far. While I've been exclusively running with PUG's, I'm starting to get a feel for some general strategies. A few questions remain though:
1. Specific Hold Proc's in Poison Trap - I've read a guide that indicates that there are 3 yet I could only see two (Devastation and Lockdown). Am I missing something?
2. Seeker Drone's slotting - I'm determined to get more mileage out of Seeker Drones as they are one of the few things I can contribute reliably on quick moving teams. Does anyone have suggestions for IO Proc's? I realize the base To-Hit debuff is pretty weak so slotting for that isn't likely to have a large impact.
3. Caltrops Procs - As has been mentioned before, do people have good experiences in slotting Caltrops with Damage Proc's despite allowing only 2?
4. Acid Mortar - Similar question in finding usage for Proc slottage in Acid Mortar. Any suggestions there?
Thanks again to those that take time to respond.

1. Neuronic Shutdown: Chance for Psi; Ghost Widow's Embrace: Chance for Psi; Unbreakable Constraint: Chance for Smashing. I had the first two in Poison Trap for a little bit on my Thugs/Traps with the 3rd in base storage for when I hit 50. I ended up pulling all of the IOs off on a respec at level 30 since I was doing just fine without them.
2. They take Ranged* (Apocolypse: Chance for Negative; Devastation: Chance for Hold), Stun, ToHit Debuff, and Accurate ToHit Debuff (Cloud Senses: Chance for Negative).
3. I haven't slotted Caltrops with damage procs, and having the MM version I had plenty of options for them. Someone else will have to speak of their experience on this one.
4. Achilles' Heel: Chance for -Resistance; Touch of Lady Grey: Chance for Negative; Shield Breaker: Chance for Lethal; Apocolypse: Chance for Negative*.
* - according to Mid's; the MM version takes TAoE sets not Ranged. -

Yes, I am aware of a damage buff. My point is that I think the END and RECH punishment in return for that is a little extreme.
[/ QUOTE ]
Wait, so a +30~40% damage increase being accompanied by a +30~40% end increase is punishment? Is this the same logic being used to complain about i15 being a small issue despite it coming out a month after i14?
[/ QUOTE ]
Wait, i15 has been out over a month already? -
I believe the issue is if it's a secondary contact in the same level range as the three "primary" contacts that the broker has listed. The examples that you have listed are all 20-24 contacts but aren't the first ones in the contact chain, so the broker won't introduce them.
It's also why you won't get introduced to Operative Wellman through the broker, but you can be introduced to Marshall Brass if you don't already have Shelly Percy - he's not the first contact in the chain but he's in a different level range as Shelly and is the first contact in the chain in that range. If you have Shelly, you just run over and talk to her, though, so that's not an issue. -

Yes, I am aware of a damage buff. My point is that I think the END and RECH punishment in return for that is a little extreme.
Doms are not a damage-heavy AT to begin with. Buffing our damage 40-80% [or whatever the percentage was] WITHOUT hamstringing us END or RECH-wise would have brought the AT up to a fun yet challenging thing that perhaps many others would have liked to try.
As this stands now, I don't see this being really popular with new Doms, unless they just go to the MA building and get PLed to [at least] Stamina. If one has to stop and wait and stop and wait and stop and wait and stop and wait, why play a Dom? We could just roll a Brute and have all these issues PLUS more damage and less end-game gimping on top of that.
Yay, Brutes.

Haven't read the whole thread, just poked my head in for the last page and saw this.
Have you tried the latest patch? It shortens the recharge (with requisite damage and endurance reductions) on some of the powers that had lengthened recharges, so you may find it working out better for you.
And overall I'd agree that having a higher number of high damage powers leads to more overkill damage and chaining them together goes through your endurance much faster - the issue is being able to maintain that chain long enough to finish a mission with the short gaps between spawns. Having played Stone Melee before, I have a little experience with that.
Also, should we just call this a burf? -
[ QUOTE ]
It takes a while to solo AVs. Burst damage doesn't do anything much. Dishing out as much damage as you can in the first 10 seconds doesn't matter when you're going to be going at it for at least a few minutes. What it will do is run you out of endurance.
[/ QUOTE ]
DPA = damage per activation second (ie, damage dealt / animation time, usually converted for server ticks).
When building a DPS chain, DPA is very important. Essentially you take your highest DPA attacks and try to chain them seamlessly.
I think you're using DPA as a different abbreviation than everyone else in the thread. -
[ QUOTE ]
This is either wrong, or misworded.
When designing an attack chain to use for AV soloing, the only stat you're looking at is DPA. Endurance use is of course important, but it's not a big showstopper as all single target blasts across the sets have a proportionate DPE
As for the Rain of Fire comment, its DPA isn't high enough to warrant its use in a single target attack (not to mention the disproportionate end usage). Caltrops on the other hand has higher DPA than Blaze, therefore has its use warranted in my chains
[/ QUOTE ]
The DPA for Rain of Fire is higher than Fireball or Fire Blast. See chart above, for which I used a 95% tick hit rate on RoF and converted the DS to Corruptor scale (ie, divided the final by 0.75). Do you skip Fire Blast in your single target chain for AVs?
Now if you said something about the 60 second recharge or the stupidly high endurance consumption of using it in your attack chain against a single target, that's one thing. But the DPA on the attack is not why you wouldn't use it.
Edit: for giggles, Blizzard is stupid DPA; the old Energy Transfer was, correcting for server ticks, 3.838 DS/sec. Blizzard is 3.814 using the pet scale - on Corruptors (to compare to their other attacks) that'd be scale 5.09/sec. -

Additionally, I am somewhat (not perfectly sure) that your Cap Broker will introduce you to Wheeler if you have outleveled Themari at 16. Either that, or the Broker will still introduce Themari, and he will intro Wheeler but won't give you any missions.
[/ QUOTE ]
Nope, the Broker will not introduce Willy and will not introduce Themari if you are over 14. However, if you have outleveled Themari's arcs you can still get the introduction. Just go back to him after you pop a couple more levels and he'll have the intro ready for you. If you missed Themari entirely, you'll have to wait for Ouro level to do Willy's stuff.
[/ QUOTE ]
No, I guarantee that you can get Willie by running the Skyway City mayhem mission at level 16+ if you don't have Themari as a contact. You can also get the Radio from your broker at level 10+ running King's Row if you don't have Bocor.
Here is a screenshot of the inactive contact list on my ElM/Nin Stalker... it was one of the few I could find that would fit them without scrolling.Note that Willie is at the bottom, completely full, and Themari is nowhere on the list.

Then you slot it with the chance for Psi damage proc and learn to use and deal with radial knockback, you don't pick it up, or you play Stone Melee instead and deal with an inferior AoE damage power. -

Hey, get off of the cell phone topic! Can't you see this thread is about threadjacking?
Besides, I like the unlimited data plan on my Blackjack II because it does internet connection sharing over USB and Bluetooth, so I have a semi-fast connection pretty much anywhere. I also spend more time reading on my phone than anything else (yay for ebooks!).
[/ QUOTE ]
iphone 3gs supports internet tethering, so u can give ur laptop internet connection anywhere too.
[/ QUOTE ]
Tethering costs extra on most plans - as much as the unlimited data plan costs all over again with AT&T; ICS just works without having to enable anything special on the account (above and beyond the data plan, anyway).
ICS may be supported on the iphone as well, I really haven't checked (and don't care) since the phone I have now does everything I need it to and then some, and I don't have quite as much disposable income as I did two years ago when I got my phone.
Also, pie is all crusty and ebil. Cookies are more fun. -
[ QUOTE ]
While this is true, there are some contacts on villainside that do introduce you to new contacts. For example: Had you chosen Mr. Bocor as a contact in Port Oakes, he would have introduced you to Radio (which you cannot get via the Broker) after you finished his arc and popped level 10.
As you move on you will discover other contacts will do this too. The trick is to complete their arcs before you outlevel them.
[/ QUOTE ]
You don't have to complete their arcs, you just have to have outlevelled the contact. Themari will still give missions at 15, but Dmitri Krylov (Golden Roller) and Shelly Percy (Marshall Brass) both will give you the contact immediately at level 15 without having to do anything for them.
You can also hit 14 and do Ashley McKnight's first mission (go talk to Tarikoss) to get a new contact in Cap without doing any mayhem there; the same with Darren Wade at level 20 in Sharkhead. -
<QR>
How soon they forget...
Despite everyone saying that you've outlevelled the contacts in Port Oakes, there is one contact (the Radio, which offers a badge mission) that's available through running the King's Row mayhem (3 papers -> Mayhem), and another contact (Veluta Lunata) that's unlockable with the Pirate badge for levels 10-14.
Yes, you can go to Cap au Diable and start on those contacts - I actually recommend it - but you can also still stay in Port Oakes and do papers to get the Radio.
Also, if you picked Bocor as a contact he'll introduce you to the Radio at level 10+ and your broker won't; it used to be that all of the 5-9 contacts would introduce you at level 10+ but for some reason Billie Heck and Angelo Vendetti stopped. -

it happened with someone that took the inf and ran on a trade for a lotg +rech a few months ago while there was still the trade bug that kept saying inventory full even though it wasn't; there was a thread about it.
[/ QUOTE ]Exploiting a bug to steal inf is entirely different from stealing inf through social engineering. No GM is going to take action on you for accepting an inf trade.
[/ QUOTE ]
I said "if the GM is feeling charitable"; it is a similar situation (chat discussion logged for a trade/barter agreed to where one side pays and is not provided recompense) if they decide to look at it from that perspective. If they're not feeling charitable they'll treat it how the do inf transfers where the person just pockets it and runs off while you're switching, say "don't give inf to people you don't know/trust", and close the ticket.
Personally I'd bet on the latter, but it's just not worth the hassle on the off chance that the GM decides to be nice. -
[ QUOTE ]

There you go, I took out like half of them.
And why not post again in the same thread? Two reasons:
<ul type="square">[*]Because I'm a special and unique snowflake, and[*]Because then you couldn't have an entertaining REVOLUTION![/list]

[ QUOTE ]
Fastest solo to 50 would probably be a Brute. Fire/WP, maybe?
[/ QUOTE ]
Probably, but SS would be up there also by catching up after level 32. EM not so much anymore, just because it no longer has the 1-sec killshot that let it sortof keep up with small-size AoE damage by killing multiple single targets faster than the AoEs could cycle. SM can still do that, but it can also starve for endurance without building to sustain its attack chain. -
[ QUOTE ]
[ QUOTE ]
Well, you were playing a Brute...
...although the truly villainous approach would be to paint the map and kick them.
[/ QUOTE ]
Nonono.
The truly villainous approach would be to use him to paint the map, then TP foe him high into the air right above a large spawn, so that he takes falling damage and then gets crushed by the enemies. THEN you kick him.
[/ QUOTE ]
It'd be Recall Friend if you're going to drop them into a spawn, and I generally just assume everyone has a prompt on. I'm also not going to pick up Team Teleport (which bypasses the prompt) solely for that.
And while you could TP Foe mobs to his location (if they're close enough) it'd only be one at a time, of relatively low rank, and they'd be able to run off before they died.
So yeah, just paint the map, and boot 'em. Taking the inf may get some sort of CS action against you if they petition and the GM is feeling charitable - it happened with someone that took the inf and ran on a trade for a lotg +rech a few months ago while there was still the trade bug that kept saying inventory full even though it wasn't; there was a thread about it. -

DPA is more important than DPS to me
[/ QUOTE ]
When soloing AVs (which is kinda what this thread is about), DPA means in and around nothing. DPS and DPE are what you're looking for there.
[/ QUOTE ]
Can you please elaborate further on this comment.
I was under the impression that I want to use my highest damage per activation attacks as often as possible to achieve the highest damage per second assuming I can maintain the endurance to use the attacks . Thus, damage per activation is very important.
Does Rain of Fire warrant addition to this calculation?
[/ QUOTE ]
Going strictly by DPA and ignoring Scourge entirely, the order from best to worst in Fire Blast (using average number of ticks for DoT and a 95% chance per tick in RoF) is:
Inferno (DS 2.38/sec)
Blaze (DS 2.1/sec)
Rain of Fire (DS 1.27/sec)
Fire Ball (DS 0.95/sec)
Fire Blast (DS 0.86/sec)
Flares (DS 0.85/sec)
Blazing Bolt (DS 0.63/sec)
Fire Breath (DS 0.61/sec)
So yes, if you can keep things in it for the full duration, it definately warrants consideration. -
