I rarely ever say "gratz" - and if I do, it was a typo. I may say "grats" occasionally, but the most common is "congo rats". Since I don't actually create a bind to do it because I like varying it, I don't do it in some in-game situations and I certainly don't do it when I don't notice someone level.

Quote:They do show up in PvP zones, but you can't get them back by killing the person who grabbed it.* The Memorial "Grinch Who Stole My Gift Glowie That I Saw FIRST!" snatch and grab event... (I swear the presents should appear in PvP zones just to get those buggers back)
That would be too much like going to the mall this month. -
And in addition to having a much shorter activation, the blast set snipes also are higher damage (scale 2.76 vs 2.3). The devs were ridiculously punitive when addressing Stalker snipes, especially when you look at how some other powers fared.

Quote:Uhm, to reiterate:The range is the whole appeal since you can destroy objectives without even being near them (objects and explodables) or picking off targets from afar and move away to rehide.
Quote:On an AT that can sneak into the middle of the spawn and hit an attack that does significantly more damage (Moonbeam does scale 4.6 damage on a critical, AS does scale 7) which carries a tohit debuff and chance for fear to everything around, and then continue to deal more damage in less time and actually kill the thing you're fighting... the range really is a tiny concern at best.
If I want a box to blow up safely, I can destroy it much faster and with fewer inspirations used by popping a couple of purples and running an attack chain on it from within the spawn. It's only of marginal use when there are mobs that ignore stealth - once again, you can use a lower number of purples to accomplish the same result faster. Or just use reds and purples to ensure that you only have to worry about it for a few seconds. -
Quote:Which would work, if it did as much as Assassin's Strike - which already doesn't kill many things. Plus, the snipes eat up almost the entire Build Up window on their own.Moonbeam is an excellent tool to use when you really wish you could perform an Assassin Strike from over 150 ft away.

I don't have one anymore but to explain the comment about it being "above what it's supposed to be", the formula for AoE area, damage, endurance, and recharge was pretty much ignored by Psychic Shockwave how it was initially. Even after it was nerfed it's still out of bounds of that formula (larger radius, iirc) and in addition, they changed Psychic Scream from using the ranged modifier (0.95) to the melee (1.05) modifier to give it a little extra kick and spread the AoE love to another power as compensation... so both of the AoEs in the set break the formula.
Is it anywhere close to before? Nope! Is it terrible? Nah. Did I delete my Mind/Psi Dominator even before the nerfs happened at level 42 because I hated how many things I ran into resisted Psi in the late game? Yep! -
Quote:Because they can be stacked to overcome low mag protection, for one; for another not everybody has it (until Clarion, and even then I think it's t4 for perma). I have several Kinetic Corruptors that would love mez protection. >.>Since I've been playing devil's advocate lately, I'll just ask one question.
If everyone has mez protection, what's the point of critters having mez powers? -
Quote:I've used the cloth belt. And the rope belt. But it's not at all like, say, the sashes the Carnies have.Robes already have a cloth belt similar to that. To be clear: I'm not saying that costume wouldn't be nice. I AM saying that it wouldn't be welcomed in a "Knight" pack. If it were in a "Medieval Fashion" pack, then great!
"Knight", like "Gunslinger", comes with some pre-built expectations that had better be IN the pack.
Agreed. -
Quote:Nitpick: Eye of the Magus doesn't affect Psi, just in case someone was thinking of trying this later on. It's still a great power to have, but that's the hole in it.The psi hole is the easiest thing in the world to fill. You can use Elusive Mind, Wedding Band, a Vanguard Psi Shield, Eye of the Magus, inspirations, or a moderate amount (mid-20s) in set bonuses. That is more than enough. If it works on my /Invuln, it will work on a /EA. It's also important to remember that you're the Scrapper not the Tanker. You'll never be solo against Rularuu and if you let the Tanker go in first you'll be fine.

Quote:Because prostitution is illegal in most areas?$75. $90. $250.
That's not cheap by any reasonable standard.
I challenged Z to give us the exact odds for the packs, or commit to doing so when the odds were set. As I expected, this was ignored.
Is there any reason to believe that Paragon Super Packs aren't going to screw the customers? -
Arcanaville expressed what I was going to say about "why not Blasters?" for mez protection when compared to Scrappers. There's no reason why it has to be an issue, but the devs have been very hesitant about giving a full ranged attack set to an AT with mez protection (Defenders and Corruptors can get protection limited by buff/debuff set choice, everybody else has a smaller subset of ranged attacks to choose from) so I thought that sustainable 2-5 mag protection would be allowed, and resistance even more so.
As for the Assault/Defense... hello, VEATs. Fortunatas in particular, since they can be Psi Blast/Claws/Mind Control/Super Reflexes. -
Quote:The Justice set worked for pseudo-plate mail also, and if you specifically want only one type of plate armor then you're likely to never be happy, and huge bulking plates don't mix well with other parts (which is why I don't use the Valkyrie boots or gloves most of the time, and only the smaller shoulder plates). Valkyrie works for plate over scale or just scale, the roman breastplate works to make it a lot look like plate, and if you fudge the colors and don't look to close you can pretend the scales in Valkyrie are chain mail. Some of the tech pieces work for plate over chain also, especially when you add patterns.Armour, yes. Medieval armour, not so much. There's all of one set and it's older than I am. We've had a few more that look like generic metal armour (Valkyrie comes to mind), but none of it really looks medieval.
There are more options available than just "all of one set" - both under tights and armored tops. -
Quote:But...but... a waist sash!!!!I'm fully expecting that any "knights" set would have something like this for women:
<snip>
or this:
<more snippage>
Of course it's probably the only piece I'd use regularly, but still... I can already do armor quite well. How long have people asked for sashes?
Edit: not to mention the long skirt... -
Quote:I've PM'd both Castle and Synapse about it notifying the mobs so they should be aware of it, but I'm not sure that having them so highly outleveled and them doing nothing is a perception issue. I've never gotten grey mobs to act first without directly affecting them previously via damage, taunt, or debuff on any character and think it's just a check the AI may do before acting.Just as a shortcut to be invisible, since their perception drops dramatically once you outlevel them. They should still aggro when notified, just like if you run through Atlas Park with a debuff aura running, or miss one with an attack.
Since you have high stealth, a normal mission should be fine. Preferably against council or something that doesn't have any mobs with extra perception / ignore stealth.
I have a couple ideas that may be able to tell if it's that or something else, will test tonight. If it really is the Fury check that's causing it, IMO that's a bug. The power has no effect on the critters it targets; it should not be set to notify them.
As a side note, when this happens suppressable stealth actually does suppress; you can see the stealth radius drop occur if you use a stealth IO. I've done it with my EM/Elec Brute in Cap. -
Quote:...It's a shame how many people won't 'get' the name since they don't know how sidhe is pronounced. (i.e. like SHE)
You know, I think I give people playing here too much credit. Because I would have thought that it went without saying, and apparently at least one person felt it just had to be said. -
Quote:Well, I did specifically leave holes in protection with what I was suggesting, and Arcanaville's idea involves absolutely no "protection" at all but high levels of mez resistance to break out of it faster.Just "giving" Blasters status protection presents a particular problem. If we assume that melee ATs are "supposed" to have status protection, then we end up in a situation where I, as a Dark Scrapper, for instance, would have to spend at least two power pics - Obsydian Shield and Cloak of Darkness - just to gain status protection, and even then it's incomplete. On the flip side, a Blaster just sort of HAS that status protection as his inherent power. What I'm saying is that if anyone should be inheriting status protection, Blasters don't seem like the first candidates.
But low mag mez protection (or high resistance) doesn't have to be all-encompassing like the newer armor sets provide - it could just as easily only affect holds and stuns, which are the ones that prevent you from really doing anything. Sleeps break the first time you're hit, and fear is weird by letting you act sometimes, and not others (and fear is also something that's not covered by most of the armor sets - only the newer ones truly provide blanket protection, but that's a separate discussion).
As for the last part of this paragraph, why not Blasters? As mentioned, the other "melee" ATs have entire armor sets. Blasters have the lowest hit points (tied with Stalkers), and until epic/patron pools don't get any more self-protection than anyone else. You can make the justification for it for any of the ATs, really, but given the lack of other personal defenses and number of melee/PBAoE powers in the AT you can make the case that it's warranted. -

Quote:I think in the "high recharge" thread, which didn't account for -resistance procs and whatnot, Stone Melee was the top without adding more targets for Soul Drain to push Dark Melee ahead of it. Once you account for procs things start shuffling around a lot, since any -resistance procs start having a multiplicative effect on your entire chain.Fire Melee doesn't have to be the top DPS because of a lack of mitigation. Stone Melee MAY (I don't know the numbers for all) be the top DPS. It has mitigation. But it's very endurance heavy and is smashing damage. Fire Melee isn't as endurance heavy and it is the more exotic fire damage. In the end, I think things are balanced, as the "powers team" intended.
Also, things have changed since those threads were created, which is why BillZ asked for them to be unstickied. While mostly unindicative of the question, checking the pylon time thread for the top Brute scores that aren't using Lore pets is probably going to get you the closest to an answer. -

Quote:I used a mixed bag from the Valkyrie, Roman, and Witch sets for my "armored" character, shown here:I am excited about the Knight pack now because hopefully it will contain some better armor for Joan. Looking for something bulky that still shows the form underneath, preferably not in a breast-window way. Fairly specific and difficult request, though. If we ever got overalls for girls, I'd use "armor tights" with overalls over them probably.
The Roman chest makes it work a lot better than the bulkier Valkyrie ones did, so it may work for what you want until you get a better idea of what's actually in the Knight pack. -
Quote:I'd like to see more options - I loved one of the images that I felt was completely unauthentic but looked really nice that someone else linked to and said that I would've expected something like that in the set. You can't make that one in the costume creator and I'd like it as an option, but people latched on to the image from The Quick and the Dead, and that one you can do fairly easily. But we're not going to get it anytime soon, which has already been explained, and while they may (read: probably) need to revise their time management on the asset pipeline if they're that far back that feedback can't be incorporated before it goes live, that's something that's also going to take a while to do and honestly isn't strictly limited to art assets. But that's also a problem of them trying to push things out at a rate of "at least one new thing in the market per week" - and if people don't like what's out that week then you get threads like this one, and if they slow down and try to fix issues that are brought up and cause release delays you have threads about "why isn't there anything new this week?!" They're damned if they do, and damned if they don't.I have been largely satisfied by Zwill's response, and other than some tangents have only been following along. However,
The sample costume is a fine approximation. You can also make one just as good for the male costume without the pack. I don't recall the specific post, but I would concur that it isn't 'impossible', but if it was a comment on making something more 'authentic' as female gunslinger, then the intent of their statement may have been valid. Otherwise, then even the male options in the current pack are completely superfluous as clearly, we already had all the options we needed.
The posts I was trying to rebut with the image were mostly about how people can't make reasonable gunslinger outfits for women because of what's in the pack. Some of the items could work, most of them don't - but that has no bearing on the fact that it's optional and the amount of anger over it seemed a bit excessive. -
Quote:Hm... I hadn't looked at how they did it for Vigilance, but I had checked Domination. It just checks for teammates within 300' every 10 seconds. And I guess that the parameter in the source.TeamSize call is the radius to check with 0 being "everything on the map" as well, since it's the same signature that's used in the Stalker line items. Since 0 seems to be a special case, I wonder if it actually does the variable lookup that I expected rather than looping through the whole map and counting entities that are teamed. You'd think the worst case on that would be O(n) where n is the number of people on the team, not on the map.Strange you were told that, since AFAICT that's exactly what Defender Vigilance does for the damage buff, once per second.
I have no doubt that it checks all entities in its range (0 = infinite?), but it apparently isn't that much of a performance hit.
