Quote:Quite the contrary actually, they tend to cause a lot of scatter (Lightning Field being the biggest offender), which is the exact opposite of holding aggroOn the other hand, they all do damage, and many do debuff on top of that. This will hold aggro long enough, usually.

Yeah, it'd be really cool to have a bunch of level 50s running around who are completely inexperienced and clueless about their powersets. I'd definitely love to team with them! *rolleyes*

1.-Locking down a spawn isn't tanking.
2.-Debuffing a spawn's tohit into the floor isn't tanking.
3.-Surviving the alpha and then keeping the aggro on you (usually through Taunt, Gauntlet, Provoke or a taunting aura), and off your squishier teammates IS tanking
All 3 are different methods that lead to the same results, but still shouldn't be confused. -
Skipping Hasten on a /Regen, just because it doesn't look pretty, is not very Scrap-like.
If you want pretty and strong go roll a Mace/EA Brute

No, no it isn't. It really isn't.
The thing is, real tanking is only required in like 2 or 3 situations in this game (the RSF, the STF, and maybe Hami, and that one is tanked by Scrapers/Stalkers). For general play and running missions you have many other alternatives to tanking (such as locking down the spawn with a Controller, debuff their tohit/damage into nothingness with a Defender, or just obliterating the spawn before it can become a threat with a burst of damage from a Scrapper/Blaster)
Edit: And even in those 3 situations mentioned there are still alternatives to tanking (you can have a bunch of cross-buffed Corruptors/Defenders and succeed with no type of aggro management), but tanking them IMO seems more safe and practical. -

Quote:Incorrect, Statesman has an innate 150 mag protection to everything (except immob and sleep) and no PToDLet's see just what would it take to put an effective hold on Statesman?
Let's see, so he gets 13 points protection for Unyielding (but he doesn't have that in his profile), Purple Triangles gives him Mag 50 protection (assuming he wasn't experiencing Purple Triangles "Down" period), and gets 21 points protection from unstoppable, though it doesn't seem like he had that on.
So, in the absolute best scenario (which would include him having a power he doesn't have), States has 84 points protection against holds, taking the video at face value, he may have
had only 50, in the worst case scenario only 4 points of mez protection.
So yeah, if he was having a moment like that latter most scenario, he could have been held that easily. -
The Dark/Shield will be more survivable but you'll most likely need lieuts as SD/AAO fodder (since minions die quickly). You'll have fair-to-mediocre AoE damage output relying only in S-Charge and F-Ball. The increased survivability might enable you to solo multiple AVs at the same time (3-4 is not unheard of)
The Fire/Shield's advantage is the AoE damage output, you'll basicly have a farmer and an AV killer both in the same build. You also won't be killing your AAO fodder with your damage buffs which means you can use minions/underlings for it. Fire/Shield will do more damage if no fodder is available for whatever reason. -

I have a pretty cool DP/TA on test, fully IO'd, with S/L defense softcapped and high recharge; able to use HoB and OSA every spawn. Can comfortably clear +2/x8 spawns of S/L mobs by himself

Yes it is, and no temps/insps were used

Quote:Not really a faction error. McKnight is a Longbow agent who uses shady and questinable methods, and KoA are just hired swords who work for anyone (even the good guys) if the price is right. There is a beautiful bug in the last mission of Captain Mako's arc dealing with the elimination of Ace McKnight. Our boy Ace is trying to leave the Isles on a boat, and has hired a band of mercenaries to protect his escape. Unfortunately, he apparently didn't do the research, because the mercenaries he hired were the Knives of Artemis. Who knows what words he exchanges with his hired bodyguards while you're out of earshot, but by the time you get to him they're already laying into him with caltrops and swords. After being jerked around by McKnight during Willy Wheeler's arc, it's easy to imagine the Knives' reaction to his smug snake routine.
Technically this is a faction error, but I hope that it is never ever fixed.
That mission takes place in the docks of Sharkhead Island, so it's even more apropiate. -
You messed up the code, and most importantly you didn't post the data chunk.
Try exporting the build using either the vBulletin code or no code at all (plain text) and make sure you include the data chunk/link next time. -
I think Lord Recluse's AI was recently'ish changed, when I soloed him on my MM he would only start summoning his Banes when he was at 25% health or less. A couple days ago I tried fighting him on my Brute and he pretty much had Summon Bane Spider as a part of his attack chain, right from the start.

Foreshadow, a character currently ingame, has an energy blast very similar to the one shown in that image.
Also, what the heck is Crimson doing in Praetoria? -

Quote:A Blaster has soloed Giant MonstersHeck, a BLASTER soloed Lord Nemesis and that's a pretty impressive acheivement.

I personally enjoy Fire/Shield more than Dark/Shield.
Dark/Shield tends to be more survivable because of Siphon Life, but I'd rather tough it out and pop greens as necesary playing a set I enjoy more. It's also nice to not kill your AAO fodder with your damage buffs
