Soloing Lord Recluse
Right now I'm playing through the project destiny arc, and I'm at the last mission where you need to take on Lord Recluse, I'm playing as a Thug/Poison MM, using Black Scorpion (for powerboost), and I'm having a devil of a time soloing him as a AV.
Aside from lowering him to an EB, anyone have any special advice? |
I think Lord Recluse's AI was recently'ish changed, when I soloed him on my MM he would only start summoning his Banes when he was at 25% health or less. A couple days ago I tried fighting him on my Brute and he pretty much had Summon Bane Spider as a part of his attack chain, right from the start.

I beat him by using Nectar (temp power) to turn a few Banes against him. They do mad damage.

Ah Recluse, I haven't solo'd him since they fixed Poison Trap; Back when the Banes quadrupled my DPS against him.
I'd suggest staying in melee range, and your henchmen at a safe >30 <60 distance. I don't think he'll use Channelgun in melee range, but I could be wrong. Either way if he starts popping Banes the best bet is Noxious Gas and Neurotoxic Breath so they don't escape the Henchmen's AoEs. Also Recluse is totally immune to slows, so you can save Neuro. Breath until when he spawns the Banes. If you have Provoke mash it to death, and spam personal attacks while the de-buffs are applied and/or cooling down, thus maximizing DPS. Also: He always spawned Banes throughout the fight from what I remember, just that he's summon twice as many when he was weak.
lord recluse actually has 2 summoning powers, one he uses only at low health, and the other when hes aggro'd
one of the summons just summons a bane spider boss, while the other summon summons about 6 guys ((3 minions, 2 LTs, 1 boss) according to the power description [summon army])
Purples and shivans help a lot if you find yourself having trouble. If your aim is to do it without inspirations/temps, you'll just have to tough it out

My strategy:
1) Pop Hasten
2) eat a 3rd tier purp and give one to my bruiser
3) Send the bruiser in
4) Pop powerboost
5) hit noxious gas
6) Hit Envenom, Weaken, Neuro..
7) RUN oh god RUN!!!
Yeah he summons a bunch of banes pretty early in the fight, and his -recov end drain is nasty. I may head to bloody bay to get a shivan, but right now I'm not even denting the big LR. I'm also thinking 'meh' and lowering him to an EB...

I had a hard time soloing him as well, but I finally just set up some good keybinds and he was a piece of cake. basically try to keep the 2 punks near u for when recluse summons the boss mobs, you gotta be quick and have the punks target each boss and send them to another spot as far away as possible while spamming heals on bruiser.
If you can send them far enough away while running to another side you can have them de-aggro you and your henchman. It's tricky but can be done.
This may be a little tough for an MM to pull off, but the way I dealt with Banes on my Stalker was to fight Recluse on the roof of City Hall. When he summons the big group of Banes, jump off the roof and make sure they follow you down. Once they're at ground level, head back up to the roof. Only Recluse will follow you back up, the Banes just mill around the base of the building. Super cheesy, but it works.
