She's currently learning to control her powers at Paragon Junior Supers Academy- if only so she can shock the bad guys instead of frying them...

Her favorite 'move' so far is the ability to encircle others (usually bad guys and bullies) in a pink electric fence.

(btw, did you know there is actually a critter called the Pika? Yup, it's true, just click here for details!)
She may like the trap bad guys in lightning fences, but she's still a nine-year old, and I bet she likes ponies.

And if she likes the color pink and breaking the laws of Nature, I can guess which pony would be her favourite.

So here you go, a picture of a nine-year-old girl playing with a pony- I mean, Pink Pika & Pinkie Pie!

Yeah, I kind of thought of that, if you have just the one main, or one that you spend a lot of your time looking at, you may actually have their build memorized. But that would have broken up the flow of the rant.

Let's go with "if you claim you can remake your entire level 50 build from memory in a respec, you're either a liar or a really obsessive min/maxer".

Not that that comes anywhere close to removing all the tedium, but you hardly need to whip out a piece of paper or anything! Your other points also still stand.
Mid's, shorthand on a piece of paper, Notepad document, whichever. Somehow you have to make a note of your build, and then refer back to those notes while respeccing.

(Actually a piece of paper might be easier if you have a single-monitor setup, 'cause you can look at your notes and your build side-by-side. That's what I did for speccing my Empath into inherent Stamina.)
  4. Respeccing a level 50 is a pain. Even if I just have the exact same build with three new LotG mules, it still requires me to 1) write down the order of my power choices and the slotting (do not tell me you're able to remember your entire build and recreate it in the respec screen without consulting any external sources, because you are a liar). 2) respec. 3) replace all the IOs. 4) Probably the most annoying part, rearrange all of the powers back into my power trays.

So, no. I am not respeccing for you. My main Incarnate has a fully IO build and a Very Rare Alpha. And, more importantly for Apex, I can dodge the blue patches and keep up debuffs successfully.
  5. Oh, here, for fun, a more loose interpretation of the OP. Feel free to imagine the following said in a slow, deliberate voice, by the guy you don't know at the bar.

    Dear everyone,

I love you guys. Seriously. I love this game, and I love every one of you. I know I sound harsh sometimes, 'cause I'm trying to give good criticism, I mean, how is this wonderful game supposed to survive unless all of us give our honest opinion? I know what you guys must think, oh, he hates the graphics, he wants to play a different game- I don't *want* another game! I love City of! You guys are all my bestest friends. And the Devs. I LOVE YOU DEVS, YOU HEAR? YOU MAKE AWESOME GAMES!

Yeah, they really make an awesome game. Like those new Judgement powers- you know, like with Destiny and stuff- those are awesome. I mean, they cost a whole lot. Like, a *lot*. I know we're supposed to be like, growing into true understanding of power- that takes time, I know- but c'mon. They could cost a *little* less. A little. Am I right guys?

I mean, it's an awesome game. Hey, have I told about about my new dude? He's awesome. He's, like, Energy... uh... Elec... his name's Roger Ram Hawks. Heh. I know I must sound kinda full of myself, but seriously, awesome. Hey, you guys got any awesome builds to share? C'mon, I wanna hear. Next round's on me. I love you guys.
  6. I've cleaned it up as much as I can.

The only thing I want to do is give a healthy amount of thought to things. Not in a bad, critical way, but in a good way. I don't want to turn this game into a different MMO, I love what City of is doing and where it is going. But with that said, I will do my darnest to make sure it survives and that its legacy continues to grow.

I think all of us here on the forums provide excellent feedback to the Devs. For those of you who think I don't like the graphics, or that have a problem with the content - I don't! I'm very content (heh) here, very. Matter of fact, I met a lot of my friends ingame, more than in the real world. Just saying.

Also, I understand that it costs money to upgrade things. OK, I'm cool with that, I was talking about what to do in the meantime. They can have another project in the works that will "shock the gaming community!" but in the meantime, I will continue to enjoy this game and provide great feedback for it. ALSO, DEVS YOU'RE DOING GREAT, GOOD JOB WITH YOUR RESPONSES ON THE FORUMS AND INGAME, THANK YOU VERY MUCH!

Now I think the new Incarnate powers - Judgement, Destiny, and such - are a great addition to the game. Problem is, their cost in Threads and Inf is a bit too high. Understanding takes time, we're supposed to be slowly growing into true power, I get that, but I think the cost can be toned down just a little. I think everyone here will agree.

I like the feeling of awesomeness this game gives me. Especially since I (rolled/respecced?) my Energy/Elec. His name, by the way, is Roger Ram Hawks. Okay, so that feeling of awesomeness may just be my ego talking and not the game.

Anyone else have any cool builds to share? I'd definitely like to hear about them. And the cost of Incarnate powers too. All thoughts and ideas are welcome.

I concur. Just look at "matter effect" for "[as a] matter of fact". Very native speaker sort of mistake.

Some of the other mistakes, like the spelling and the repetition and the meandering train of thought, bring to mind the old adage: Kids, don't drink and post.
  7. Wow, lots of replies! Thanks to everyone who dropped by to cheer me on.

"Too soon" is just an arbitrary time value to you? You *honestly* can't see how "the recovery efforts have literally literally started today and the damage to the nuclear powerplants may still spiral into an additional disaster" might just possibly be "too soon"?

I think it's tacky, and nothing anyone has said in this thread has convinced me otherwise. It's good that you think doing the same thing for a tragedy that impacted the US would be okay, because otherwise you'd be a hypocrite.

No, I think making a "tribute" in your pretendy funtime game to a disaster that is still happening is just tacky, regardless of whether you use a new or an existing character. Sorry for the confusion.

Do I have to specify *recent* tragedy when it should be clear from context? I don't see what Terra Volta has to do with anything, unless when you run it you're RPing that your characters are in Japan helping contain the radiation leaks.

Suppose for a moment that back in 2001, there was an European-made MMO set in the "present day" and just after September 11th someone made a character whose mutant powers awakened from the shock of losing their family in the WTC attack. Would that strike you as a normal and understandable way of dealing with what they saw in the news?

  11. Okay, people! I really want to get back into drawing things, but it's been a while and I'm rusty and low on ideas. I'm sure some of you have characters you'd like to see drawn. So here we go!

    Edited for slight changes

    1) Post in this thread with a reference picture of one (1) character. If there's a particular attitude, expression, pose or situation you'd like them in, feel free to include that as well.
    2) I'll go through and pick out ones that seem fun to draw. I'll let you know if I don't pick yours.
    3) Drawings will be posted to my DA account and linked in this thread.
    4) I'll just be doing pencil sketches for now. I'm doing this for free and I'm out of practice, so please adjust expectations accordingly.
    5) You can repost drawings of your character anywhere, color them, photoshop them, whatever, as long as you credit Meagen Image for the pencils and don't make money from it.

    All clear? Post away.

I have over a billion each on two of my 50s, but spending 150k on Alchemical Silver still rubs me the wrong way, especially if I just *had* one yesterday and sold it for 55k. Not even remotely rational, but if I find something rare I am holding on to it forever.

When you see this happen, it means that one person has put in a bid at 200,000k, which was instantly filled, probably by someone who posted their salvage up for 5 or 100 inf. Highest bid is matched with lowest sale price, remember.

Sometimes other people will come in, see the 200k in the history, and assume that's how much the item "costs", and you see a bunch of bids at 200k, 500k, and so on.

Remember: if something sold for 200k, it may or may not have been priced at 200k - but you can be dead certain that someone *offered* 200k for it.

    fix'd
  16. They should fix the bug that makes the game less fun now than it was on my first week playing it.
  17. Personally? Yeah, I think using a real world tragedy that affects hundreds of thousands of real people to add some spice to your pretendy funtime games is a pretty damn selfish thing to do.

It's hard enough to remember that something happening on the other side of the planet, to people outside your monkeysphere, that you will only ever see on your computer screen between watching the new episode of Fringe and your Weekly TF Run, is actually a real thing that happens. Trying to treat it as another Rikti Invasion is just going to make it feel even more unreal.
  18. Low level salvage, Magic or Tech: Drop on market for 300 inf. It'll sell sooner or later.

Mid level salvage, Tech: Check prices, sell for about what I would be offering if I needed to buy it.

Mid level salvage, Magic: HOARD. MAKE BIG PILES. FILL UP ALL THE MARKET SLOTS. THEY WILL NOT GET MY PRECIOUS.

High level salvage, Magic: Drop on market for 300 inf.

High level salvage, Tech: Sell to NPC vendors or delete for space.
  19. When I play Spider Solitaire and get into an unsolvable situation I use the Undo option, is that cheating or creativity?
  20. I think I may rolls some alts on Vigilance to practice my French.

  22. If this ever happens, I imagine it'll be somewhat like Power Customisation: Paragon hires a bunch of interns, art team spends six months doing nothing but rebuilding the creator from scratch and remaking every single costume piece ever, people complain there's no new costumes in the meantime. New creator is unveiled, an entire Issue is dedicated to it. People who love costumes are ecstatic. People who want new zones/missions/storylines/systems count it as "yet another Issue with NOTHING in it".

    The new merits

A Tip is a Contact. Check your Contacts window. It should have the tabs for Active, Inactive, Detective, and Tips. You don't get a mission from a Tip until you go there and "investigate" it.

5 tip missions (one day) + 5 tip missions (next day) let you do 1 morality mission, which gives an Alignment Merit. So 22 missions total (over 4 days) give you a LotG (or any other rare recipe you want). And they're *fun* missions, much better than the police band stuff.
  24. The Devs have been following their stated mission of "give the players what they want". Of course, you can't give everything to everyone, so they've instead relied on targetting some parts of each new Issue at one group and others at another.

Take for example the 1-20 content in Praetoria. This is meant to be a more polished early game experience for new players, with interesting stories and writing that pulls you into the world. But they don't want veteran players to feel left out, so the difficulty of the Praetorian mobs was made with them in mind.

In the same way, some players want to see a storyline based around their character that gives them great importance and increased power, while others would like to see large-scale endgame raids like other MMOs have, and the Incarnate system provides both.

What you are seeing is the result of another of those compromises. Some people like to emphasise the conflict between different player character philosophies, and for those players, 1-20 Praetoria offers four factions, each with a different approach. But other players don't care about in-character divisions and just want to team up with their friends against a Big Bad, and for them, there's the return to Praetoria at level 50.

There have also been no redname posts on "is XP gained from kills character-based or account-based?". Because it should be freakin' obvious.
