  1. I could probably write a book about why i13+ PvP is exponentialy worse than i12 PvP. That would be a huge waste of effort though.

    As a self proclaimed "hardcore test PvPer", you of all people should know that being a good emp involved alot more than "mashing one button over and over". To heal through a coordinated assault/good spike on a team mate was no easy feat. Not only did emps have to worry about consistently healing targets, they had to keep buffs up, and evade without getting so evasive that they were unable to heal/buff the team.

    Heal decay makes it possible for uncoordinated damage spams from uncoordinated players to out-do an emp's heal. The point is this: Healing through an uncoordinated assault SHOULD be EASY for a competant emp - otherwise what good is an emp in the first place?

    As for your comment about "using strategy" to evade and "break LoS": evasion is not a skill with travel supression being so consistent on an evading target. Infact, evading in i13+ PvP involves moving in one direction at a slow pace, hoping that the people chasing you are too lazy or too bad to finish you off.

    What? lol. Not even close. In i12, you actually had to use coordinated attacks to kill a player buffed by a coordinated team. It only makes sense that you need coordination to defeat coordinated opponents. If a coordinated team is hardly better than a mob of random inexperienced players, then what is the point of even teaming in the first place? The whole basis of City of Heroes is that teaming makes individual ATs shine more than they would solo. I'm pretty sure it says that in the manual (which I thumbed through in like issue 2 or so).

    I have. DR wasn't voted in because people like DR on better than DR off. DR was voted in because of the crazy resistance effects that occur when DR is off. Without the unresisted debuffs of i12, it wasn't really possible to get kills in "DR off" ladder matches unless you could land a double AS - making for a very two dimensional pvp experience. Even that being the case, the ladder continued with DR off until the "no heal decay" option was introduced.

    You claimed to be a veteran test server PvPer, yet no one I know seems to know who you are. Which SGs/VGs did you play for? and when?

    Yeah, I'd say that is a given - DR ON, or all we would see are therms and stalkers. TS and HD OFF because, well, TS AND HD are gay.

    Arena bought insps and temps being a-ok are also a given.

    Is this going to be a league or a ladder? I know the post says league (Actually, it says "legaue"), but people often call ladders leagues (And sometimes legaues, apperently).

    People build for +dam (in general, not necessarily on Stalkers) so they're doing more damage all the time. In a game where incoming damage types don't really matter anymore, even a bit more damage makes a big difference. Personally I've been building for +HP, and +dam often comes as a side effect of sets that have +HP bonuses (recharge as well).

    Good stalker builds generally have always been damage based. I knew alot of people who had 50%+ damage bonuses on their stalkers. Recharge isn't quite as important on a stalker.

  6. Technically, I'm some kind of rep or another. I don't know, though. I think Sneaky and I were "Test Server" reps for about a week when we came back in i14.

    Either way, I can probably act like I'm doing something important to speed things up on this. If anything, I can ensure that the regulations won't be retarded (hopefully).

    No repeating ATs sounds like a very solid idea. Given the way doms are working now (HEY GUYS LET'S GIVE AN ALREADY OVERPOWERED AT A DAMAGE BUFF!!!), I doubt that many people would bring much else other than two doms and an emp otherwise.

    That said, any other ideas for rules? Let me know, preferably in this post so I'll actually read them.
  7. We leveled a few toons 1-50 in under one hour. Ironicly, those toons were not deleted, while several of our others were.

    I think we are just too fast n' sexah for the devs to handle. I Realize like nine people will be like "NO WAY YOU DIDN'T DO IT IN UNDER AN HOUR ALSIFHLSAIHFOIASFOAS!!!", but, there is an entire thread dedicated to this feat - we have been over this.
  8. As far as coh PvP goes (especially pre-i13), there really is no worth in naming a "best player".

    As Terp said, individual kill counts really don't mean anything.
    A. They don't take into account the player's deaths durring the match.

    B. Getting a kill in a team match only means that you were the last person to attack the team's target - what matters is that the offensive players are ON target. Who gets/doesn't get the kill is unimportant as long as the TEAM wins.

    C. Obviously, an offensive player, such as a blaster, will get more kills (in most cases) than a support player, such as an emp/thermal/sonic/kin/ect. That doesn't mean that the blasters are better than the emps.

    Rather than select a single MVP, you may want to consider the team as a whole, and chose a "Best Team".

    Still, it would be inaccurate to call a player or team "the best" based on statistics and data that don't take into account circumstance.

    For example: Suppose Team A has a match with Team B. Let's say that both team A and B are very strong teams made up of competant and experienced players. Team A wins the match with a score of 7-4.

    Team C and Team D also have a match. Team C is a fairly competant team, while Team D is inexperienced and uncoordinated. Team C wins the match 23-1.

    The problem of course is that according to the scores, Team C is the best team of the four, when in reality Team A and B may have had a shot at beating team C.

    Generally, League/Ladder formats work best for deciding which Teams are collectively better because they take into account actual gameplay.
  9. The simple fact: PvP is not nearly as good as it was. Infact, it is hardly "good" at all. It is less skill based - more build based; less fast paced and logistically demanding - more sluggish and dummed down.

    We've all been over it a thousand times. This game's PvP is now a joke. We know it. The devs know it.

    As much as I hate to issue ultimatums: anyone who truely believes that i13+ PvP is better than i12 PvP simply does not have the experience to make that call.

    I'm going to leave it at that. But, I certainly wish I could have been there for that day, Zulu. I would have infernoed like there was no tommarow (which for all intents and purposes of CoH PvP, there wasn't, and probably never will be)

    Lol. Cave maps are for pros. I remember how impulsive the creation of 10mop was. For those who don't know: one day Liz Garner went into RV and said somthing to the effect of "Hey we are starting a new PvP sg on the test server, anyone want to join?". Two of our emps were randoms from RV, as was our starting tank (yes, we had a starting tank).

  16. Banning res sheilds was an idea I had about a month ago. At first it seemed like a good one, but it isn't.

    Reason One: Where do you stop? Do you ban powers like tough and sonic dispersion?

    Reason Two: such a measure would probably make stalker/kb based teams even more effective, given that many powers used to slot significant KB res bonuses will be banned.

    The idea that forcing teams to run resistance buffers will help balance the current state of things is a double edged sword; it also means that people may have to run kins for additional KB protection. The resulting lineups will be stacked defensively and have little room for toons with offensive capability. I then suspect that the way to get kills will be hold/tk spikes from controllers followed by a single AS and scourges. That's pretty borring.

  19. An i12 button obviously won't happen. I think we have a shot at a No Global Res feature though.

    Spec is right, let's start complaining alot. Get your global channels to petition this. There is a strong chance that we won't be successful, but think about it: Why are we even playing this game anymore? I suspect the reason is that, deep down, we all have some deluded hope that things will go back to how they were. If that can't be achieved, let's at least try and achieve the next best thing.

    Be clear and concise. Make sure you use good english; capitalize, punctuate, spell correctly, and use correct grammar. Above all: be polite. (And yes, I realize that your english is bad, Frost Elf, but I'm sure you can manage.)

    As has been said: Our success is imperative to the survival of test PvP. Hype this up. Make posts in the real sections of the forums, send the devs PMs, petition it in game... Send the devs more gift baskets for all I care. Just do something to help, even if you think it won't work; we've got nothing to lose, but a whole lot to gain (like the ExtenZe commercial).

  21. If you are going to exclude double stalker teams, you shuld instead make a no repeating AT rule. Double blasters is way better than double stalkers if DR is on.
