For me personally Brutes > Tankers.
I find its not a question of how tough they are, but whether they are tough enough. A brute with support is tough enough for just about anything the game can throw at them, while doing boatloads of damage.
A tanker purely on their own merits is (imo) unnecessarily tough, and they pay for it in damage. If you want to team with 7 blasters, then great, tanker is what you need. On a team with any semblance of balance a brute will outshine a tanker.
A hp-capped, softcapped WP tanker can tank like 10 AVs at once. Neat. So? Its nice and all to be utterly indestructible, but its totally unnecessary.
By being somewhat squishier the brute benefits more from the team and brings more to the team. They get my vote. Plus the prevalence of tanker primadonna attitudes, but that's not a balance question -
Unless something has changed (or I did it wrong) you can't target and ignite a slick with one bind/macro click.
What I've got is a macro to target it and then ignite it, except I've gotta hit it twice. First click targets the slick, second one activates the taser dart.
What I've got is /macro OSA "targetcustomnext Oil$$powexecname Taser Dart" iirc.
I'll double check when I get home, though.
edit: maybe because its a macro, not a bind? -
Strap a 4th to your back, every now and again you spin 180 on the spot and hurl yourself backwards.
lern2minmax shields, nub
Edit: ooh you could have shield shoulderpads too -
While I wasn't involved in either the planned event or the subsequent Dramastorm, I've got a lot of respect for you for owning up and explaining things.
Keep on keepin' on. -
SS/Fire brute, swap Elec Fences and Ball Lightning for Fire Cages and Fireball, swap Blazing Aura for Hot Feet. Have Fulcrum Shift. Rain of Fire too. I guess like a Firekin/brute/corr hybrid.
Also Indomitable Will on all my Corruptors.
I'll think of more broken things as the day progresses.
Edit:
Silas Offense:
1: Smite
2: Fire Blast
3: Fire Ball
4: Seismic Smash
5: Hot Feet
6: Rage
7: Blaze
8: Rain of Fire
9: Footstomp
Silas Defense:
1: True Grit
2: Quick Recovery
3: Whatever the SR melee defense toggle is
4: Whatever the ninjitsu ranged/AoE toggle is
5: Healing Flames
6: Dull Pain
7: RttC
8: Darkest Night
9: Adrenaline Boost that buffs you, not an ally
Silas Epic:
1: Mental Training
2: Mind Link
3: Fire Cages
4: Fault
5: Fulcrum Shift
Take Fitness and Speed. Maybe Fighting depending if I need it to softcap
Profit. -
5 Armageddons (all but the DAM) and a FFB Proc in Footstomp = oh god I can't see, too many tears of joy
-
I wouldn't have thought so, since the changes to make Speed Boost/Siphon Speed/Inertial Reduction suppress were put in.
I'm sure some people still do, but they're just not as good as they used to be. Heh, story of i12 pvp. -
They may not be giving out free name changes right now, but you can still get name changes for free.
And no, I'm not talking about getting a friend to report you. -
Quote:Eeeeeexcellent.Yes, although you will have to ensure that the new name that you desire is free on both servers that way.
Another way is to transfer your character over, then create a new toon on the old server with the name of the old toon you just bounced out.
Then when you bring the old toon back you will get your rename token and you only have to worry about the new name you want being available on your target server.
This presumes that creating the new toon to block out the old name leaves you with 1 free slot to come back to. -
So with the rename tokens if the name is taken, does this mean we can sortof get free renames?
Like if I've got Captain Amazingpants on Champion and I want to rename him Captain Superpants, if I make some trash character called Captain Amazingpants on Protector or whatever, when I try to move Amazingpants over it'll give me a rename, right?
So unless Captain Superpants is taken on Champion, I can then move the now renamed character back and tada, free renamed character on original server?
Anyone know if this works? -
Well, for stealth all I did was chuck a Celerity proc in Super Speed, that makes full invis. Only thing I took from Stealth pool was Grant Invis at level 40-something.
For which traps to put down while stealthed, the Trip Mine is most important because its slow to put down and can be interrupted. PGT can't, so you don't need to worry about that as much. It is nice to be stealthed when you put it down so once you aggro half the spawn is out of commission anyway, but the stealth is more important for Trip Mine.
I would still get Stamina relatively early in your build (I got it at 20 or 22 if memory serves) because while Traps is not super end heavy, it can still put quite a strain on your blue bar to lay down a whole lot in a fight. I'm generally of the opinion that you can never have enough recovery, especially leveling up
You might be able to put Stamina off till the late 20s since elec is relatively light on end, I got it ASAP because my trapper is Fire and Fire is an insatiable end hog.
That's a good question as to whether you can somehow enhance its speed, but I don't know. I wouldn't have thought so, but I've also never looked into it. If you're way, way ahead of your FFG you can always resummon it. It recharges really fast so its not as big a deal as it would be for MM/Troller pets.
Stamina isn't as urgent for a traps as it is for some other builds but I still wouldn't put it off, especially for Grant Invis. The whole GI'ing the FFG thing is really an endgame kind of deal imo. For leveling up I'd focus on more important stuff (blasts, your key traps etc). -
p.sure pics of Oz spanking anyone would be ban-worthy
the dude has got no mercy -

He's back guys, the jig is up, everyone out.
Nah, welcome back BAGlad to hear the job worked out.

We hold these truths to be self-evident.

Honestly? I've no idea.
For what its worth, I'm not sure how much damage a blaster would have to do for me to invite one over a corruptor to my team, but it would have to be pretty broken.
No amount of damage a blaster brings is going to make them a force multiplier. Force multipliers rule this game. -
Ah right, haha my bad. Well, a firekin corr can still only reach that damage after 38

Premium quality drama can only be cultivated in an environment requiring several key factors.
These include but are not limited to:
-people taking themselves too seriously
-people who received insufficient quantities of Hug as children and as such require online validation
-people with too much free time on their hands
-large quantities of the sweetest nerd rage tears
-an audience willing to validate an idiot by responding to them
-srs bsns

At Champion we pride ourselves on our high quality Drama. We have all of these ingredients, all of the finest quality.

It is worth noting that the Fire/Kin can only match Blaster damage once buffed and after 44 (or is Fireball 47 for Controllers? I forget)
As for buffing blaster damage being game-breaking, I don't know. I would have thought there's a certain point where you do so much damage there's essentially no risk to yourself (1shotting everything) but I've no idea where that point lies. This is the kind of problem inherent with designing such one-dimensional ATs, imo.
Boo hero ATs, yay villain ATs(and thus is my bias exposed!)
-
This is true.
One could argue that Blasters can get high levels of mitigation through IOs (ranged softcap def etc) but that's largely moot as the same level of investment would make a tough scrapper even tougher while putting out competetive damage.
IMO, I agree with you. Blasters do have the highest raw damage, but many other ATs can come close while bringing more to the team/being easier to solo. Shame, really. Although it is worth noting that if you have the support to keep them on their feet (emp or therm or what have you), some blaster combinations can put out absolutely ludicrous amounts of raw damage.
My Fire/MM blaster is monstrous with a good emp. -
Energy Torrent with FFB proc for the justice. My Spines/Regen has Ragnaroks with the proc in Throw Spines and Posis with the FFB proc in Energy Torrent and its knockdownalicious.
Edit: To answer your question Neuronia, I would say Blaze for a better AoE or Body for more mitigation and end management. -
I want to see this. Unfortunately no IMAX here :C
Will probably go see it on Monday since Sat/Sun I'm working and cinema tickets are mo' cheapah on Mondays.
Tell Meowtch get well soon from me
