Free Server Transfer Question ????

How does one get this done ??? I logged in to check it out real quick but the character transfer button still says buy transfer. Do you just go thru the process and it ends up being free or do you have to log in the actual character on the specific server to make the transfer ??? I got a few I want to move from Guardian to Freedom.

Once you go to "buy server transfer" and hit okay on the warning, it shows you that you have 6 free transfers (bottom right) which you can use rather than purchasing any.

On the character selection screen, just pick the character but don't lot in. There is a button under them to buy a server transfer. Pick that, pick the server, and use the tokens we were given. Presto.

However, the warning NC has about the names, I was paranoid as I was moving my only 50 from one server to another and wanted her to be named exactly the same thing. So I quick-rolled a garbage character with that name to verify the name was good and then deleted him [a dude named Ink Girl. lol] Then transferred her over.

Totally freaks me out that I can get her onto the server I use now.

Since the OP's question was answered I'll add in another question so I don't have to start a new thread.

If I move a character for free now, will I be able to move him back to my home server at a later date if I want? I ask because I play a particular character a lot and I was thinking of moving him over to a new server(besides Freedom) for a while to earn some prestige to start up a new personal SG and get some teleporters. I'm thinking I don't want him to remain on the new server forever(though I could always change my mind). I'm happy to pay for a transfer back to Freedom at a later date, but a friend mentioned he thought that wasn't allowed/possible for some reason. I just want to confirm that before I make my move. Thanks.

Yes, you can. You get 6 free transfers per week. You could transfer the same character to 3 different servers and back, 6 characters to the same server, etc. You can do it this week, next week, the last week, it doesn't matter.

The one thing to look out for is names. I've been finding that my name is usually already taken on the new server when I move a character. You get a free rename token. If you move off of one server, and then come back later, there is no guarantee that someone won't have taken your name while you were gone.

Is character transfer like character copy onto test server, that it can take up to 24 hours to see the character in its new home?
I ask because I moved a character off of champion (I've had no luck teaming there unless I was in a Mega-SG, and when I didn't like their rules, I left) and onto virtue. She immediately dissappeared from champion, but I have yet to see her on virtue. I didn't get any error saying moving to virtue was not allowed, nor was Virtue greyed out on the server list.

So is transfer just backlogged a bit, or is my character well and truly gone? If she's gone, I'll be really PO'ed. Level 30, with a large chunk of AE tickets, and at least 10 complete sets of salvage from the halloween event, along with the badges.

Character transfers should only be 5 minutes, either to the Test Server or Live to Live.

If it's taking more than.... I'll generously give them 2 hours, I'd open up a support ticket with Customer Support.

That is, until we here reports back from players using CS or from one of the Mods that there is indeed a backup.

I play exclusively on Virtue, but I still have some slots open. So, more or less, I'm good for the name game on all servers. @Thaneval

Well, somehow poor Manhattan Bridge ended up on Victory rather than Virtue. So I just popped another token to move her where she belongs, and now she's on Virtue, with her mate Brooklyn.
