Take grounded earlier and don't take tremor until 40+ -- I took it after getting Ball Lighting. It's too weak on its own as an AOE. I'd drop resuscitate.
[/ QUOTE ]
Thanks, nice to know that... I can take Grounded at 32. What about Cond. Shield? Is it important?
I put ressuc. at 49 because I didn't think of anything else, but I wonder if Cond. Shield is important early on or if I can take it at 44-49.
[/ QUOTE ]
You could probably hold off on Conductive Shield until the 20's. It's your Fire, Cold, Energy and Negative Energy resistance so I wouldn't skip it all together, no way! I took it at level 6 and it's been a great help. It doesn't need to be ran at all times in the early levels, but as those damage types become more common, I tend to run it more often. -
Hitting "Shuffle Songs" on the ole iPod....
1. The Wanderlust - Flogging Molly
2. Trashed and Scattered - Avenged Sevenfold
3. Rearviewmirror - Pearl Jam
4. The Lemon Song - Led Zeppelin
5. Dandellion - Audioslave
6. Man or Animal - Audioslave
7. Every Rose Has Its Thorn - Poison
8. Predictable - Korn
9. Walking on the Moon - The Police
10. Boys on the Docks - Dropkick Murphys
Funny that hitting the random button produced two songs from the same artist and the same album (I've got 2 from them). -
Some good information in there, but I think it could still use a little work. Some things that I would have liked to have seen, being that I am in the process (slow process, but process!) of making an Earth/Storm myself, would be:
You mention that Stone Cages isn't worth taking and that Tornado is an issue because it tosses mobs around. What about the synergy using both at the same time? Cages will prevent the mobs from being knocked back by Tornado and unleash some serious damage (if you slot for that) or more control in Stun.
What about the stun attacks (Stalagmite, Fissure, and Thunderclap) plus an immobilization synergy? That is essentially a hold (Stun + Immob).
Some of the other power combinations have similar synergies that would be nice to cover in your guide.
I think information like this would be helpful for your guide. Also some slotting advice, possible builds perhaps? -
Very excellent guide. Well written, layed out nicely and the information is top notch. Great job!

I beat Nos solo with no deaths on my Bot/Dark MM. I'm IOed out, but just standard IOs. No sets at all. Darkest Night, Tar Patch and Twilight Grasp are critical. Additionally, I did have to respawn my bots a few times.
It was impossible on Reckless, but merely long on Villainous.
The Assault on Siren's Call however, was a debt fest.

I'll be trying this arc very soon on my scrapper. Hopefully I'll be able to take Nosferatu solo, otherwise I have a few Shivans as a back up plan. I remember trying to solo him as an Elite Boss during some mission in normal game play and he kicked my butt. -

That's a great concept and love the screen shot. Nicely done. -
Well, I've found that /Electric blast for defenders is probably one of, if not the, lowest damaging sets a defender can take. If you combine it with Kinetics, the damage output is better because of Siphon Power and Fulcrum Shift, but, of course, will still be less than other secondarys would be. There is some serious endurance draining capabilities for Kin/Elec which is the main reason to play this build. I still have a lot of fun with this combo blasting away, buffing, debuffing, sapping. It really has everything I was looking for.
-
I agree, nice guide there. I too have a Stone Melee / Electric Armor brute who is level 34 right now. I picked up Hasten, Boxing and Tough, which made fitting Build Up in before the mid 40's really hard. I could probably move some things around, but I'm still not sure.
Right now, I have my hammers slotted 2 accuracy, 2 recharge and 2 endurance reducers. I would love to slot some Set IOs in there so I can include some damage, I'm just not sure which sets yet. Crushing Impact is always recommended by just about everyone, but they're just too expensive. This is my only Villain and I'm sitting on about 2.5million Infamy, so I just may have to hold off on Set IOs for a long, long time.
On that note, are there any other recommendations for Sets rather than the insanely expensive Crushing Impact? Accuracy, endurance and recharge are important so sets like Mako's Bite and Touch of Death seem to lack a little because only 5 or the 6 parts contain attributes while the 6th is the damage proc. Is that why most go for Crushing Impact (along with the nice set bonuses)?
Again, nice guide there, thanks for sharing.
Oh, here is the build that I'm working towards, if you're interested:

I've been having a great time with my Kinetic/Electric defender. I'm only sitting at level 36, but he has been a great contribution to the teams I've been on (mostly SG teams). We've got some great herding types in the SG that are capable to getting very large groups, so Fulcrum Shift gets some great usage. I recently teamed with a SG mate leveling up a Rad/Elec defender. As said above, the double Short Circuit is very cool.
During these same missions that I rad the other day, I had Herostats going. When I was ready to log for the night, I was amazed at how much damage Ball Lightning did over the course of the few missions we ran. Actually, I was surprised how much damage Short Circuit did during those missions also and I don't have that slotted for damage at all!
This combination is a really fun one, I'm enjoying him a lot. -
That was a very good post there tempus, youve got some great information in there.
I have a hard time pinning down the "age" of costume design that I prefer. I think I mix it up from character to character and costume slot to costume slot. I really don't think I sway to one style over the others, though I could be wrong. -
Here are some of the costumes that I've made. I've grown fond of my Peacebringer outfits, Astral Flux and my Stone/Electric Brute outfits, Harek.
-
Thanks for this post! You've got some nice costume designs in there that I'm sure will spark new ideas for folks, I know it did with me.
I've been trying to work a new costume out for my Peacebringer that had an old classic superhero look. I wanted the design to incorporat the over the shoulder cape and some type of chest design that gave the appearance of the cape color coming down the chest. One of your paragraphs there will help finalize that design. Thanks! -
You would probably get a better response if you posted this in the "Brutes" forum rather than the "Guides" forums. This forum is generally for people to post guides about builds rather than asking for help on your build.
With that said, there have been a few posts on Stone Melee / Electric Armor in the Brutes forum over the past week or so, check the history or do a search. -

1) Sightless Shadow - Magic Claws/Dark Armor Scrapper
2) Focus
3) My scrapper uses an animation similar to that of throwing a base ball, a small wave of "energy" ripples through the ground at the target. Upon impact, the target is knocked down and a nice bright orange number appears above his/her head.
4) Favorite - Banished Pantheon / Least Favorite - Knives of Artemis -
The Fire Melee/Invulnerability brute that I'm building is very similar to yours (I took Fire Sword over Scorch and have Super Jump). I agree with your thoughts on the Presence pool, I think it helps out those two sets a great deal.
Oh, I loved your pictures! -
Nice guide there, I enjoyed the read. I've been gathering parts myself lately to put together a new computer. So far, it's a [u]significant[u] update from what I have now, so I'm looking forward to putting it together. I planned on using my old case, but now I'm curious if I should just replace that as well. My old case has two 80mm fans in the front and in the back. It will be a bit loud and wondering if 120mm fans would be the way to go.

Isnt that photo in the WIki link the cover of the 1st Rage Against the Machine CD?
[/ QUOTE ]
Yes, Rage did use that same photo as their album cover.
This is a though one in my mind. For someone to perform such an act as this Monk did, their beliefs must have been so strong. So strong, that they were able to block out that pain. I can't imagine such a thing, but it obviously exists.
For someone to make a video game character out of someone else usually isn't a big deal. In this case, depending on how that person portrays the Monk in game makes all the difference. I think disrespecting any of the deceased is wrong, so if they doing anything in game to portray the Monk in a bad way, I would say that character should be taken out of the game.
When it's all said and done though, I think it's still in bad taste and wouldn't have done it myself, but that's just me. -
Are we talking about the same MSPaint here? Is there some secret version somewhere? I didn't know such wonderful things could come from MSPaint! That's awesome, nice work!
-
Sightless Shadow, my magic Claw/Dark Armor scrapper can be found here. The bio and two screen shots can be found in that profile.
-
That really looks great. I love the fiery background.
-
Whoa! I've never seen him before but wow, he's really big! Cool picture
-
I would have to agree that Fault is a great power, actually my favorite power in the set. Knocking a whole group down with the possibility of disorienting them is awesome. Really good damage mitigation. I've always slotted it with 2 accuracy, 2 recharge, 1 endred and 1 disorient. Since you would have Lightning Reflexes with this build, one recharge could be replaced with something else.
I also like Build Up on my brutes. With full fury and BU, that's some serious damage to a boss, making that fight much shorter. Also, there isn't any better damage mitigation than something that is already dead.
Since Stone Melee is rather endurance intensive, I really like to make the most of each attack and make sure I hit, so I like 2 accuracy enhancements in each attack. This is personal preference of course, but I think it helps a lot. -
I really enjoyed that video as well. Very good editing in there and very pleasant to watch. I do, however, agree with squirrel that the Statesman fight was lackluster. I found it hard to believe when the first few attacks by the middle villain didn't prompt him to charge and pummel someone, anyone. It was a great video, but would have been more believable if Statesman had taken down some villains before he was finally defeated.
I really liked it though and look forward to any others you produce.

Hilarious!
First time I joined a team that ended up doing a Mayhem mission (levels 12-13 or so) was a disaster. The team leader insisted on just fighting our way to the bank. So off we went. When an ambush came, the leader would run behind us all and blow up fire hydrants, phone booths and cardboard boxes. He soon decided the best way would be just to run as fast as we could to the bank because we were running low on time. About 2 seconds after that brilliant decision was made, he died.
Leader: "I'm going to run to the hospital"
Me: "Noo! I have an awaken and you don't go to the hos.."
Leader: "Where am I? There is a door in front of me and I can't get out"
Me: *sigh* "You're in jail, must break out now"
Leader: "I think we're going to run out of time"
*Mission Failed*
That is the only time I've ever teamed up while doing a Mayhem Mission and I'm pretty sure that will be the only time.
