Stone Melee/Electric Defense Brute Guide
Lighting Reflex's also inscreases your attack speed and resists -spd.
Changed it. Thanks for letting me see that. I wrote this while watching tv so i'm sure there are more mistakes. Thanks for reading it and telling me the error.
Few notes for ya Fellinar.
Stone Fist. Drop the recharge in favor of another acc (see note on hammers). Fist charges fast enough on it's own.
For the hammers I have to disagree with your slotting. Currently I use 2acc/2redux/1recharge. The reason is thus, SM uses so much end you need to hit more often than you miss, hitting more often is better than hitting less for more damage. On a brute fury will more than make up for not slotting damage. And with LR/Hasten/recharge SO, you are attacking fast enough to build fury without the enemies attacking back. If i can't find something more usefull to do with the slots I may put a sixth in there and make it damage, but that'd be icing on the cake
Fault is very usefull for it's damage mitigation. It does knockdown/back and stuns as well. This is extreemly usefull if you run on the 2nd or 4th difficulty level as the group sizes are generally larger. The slotting I currently use is 1 each, acc/recharge/redux/disorient.
Seismic Smash. I'd drop the recharge in favor of another damage or end redux. Even with 2 redux it still uses a good chunk of end, so you don't really want it available any faster than LR+hasten gets you. If it's up you'll want to use it, I know I do
Hurl Boulder. The main reason to have this power is for runners (in PvE) and flyers (in both). Secondarily, it's a heck of a lot more usefull that BU or taunt. The damage is quite good, give it an acc or two but don't waste alot of slots on it unless you want range for PvP. You won't use it often enough to need redux.
Tremor. Again, no need for recharge. It's base recharge is quite good and by the time you get it you have LR. Un enhanced it actually charges faster than fault with a recharge SO. Again, add acc so it actually hits those +3's and higher I'm looking at 3dmg/2acc/1redux, basically it's base damage is the same as stone fist, but to everything around you. When fighting a boss, run LF and after a few tremors all the minions/lt's will be dead
Shields - You don't need 2 end redux in the shields. One if you really want it, but by the time you get stamina and power sink you won't even need that really. Don't waste the slots, or respec em out later.
Lightning field - Less end redux, more acc, possibly end mod as well as it does drain the enemies end (but doesn't give you any)
Grounded - default slot until later levels when(if) you have them to spare.
Lightning Reflext - Default slot. Add for runspeed if you really, really want it.
Conserve Power - Can be useful. Doesn't recharge end, reduces end costs of all your powers by like 90%. Good for post crash, sappers, loooong hero/av battles. Very situational.
Power Sink - Too many slots. 2 end mod, 1 recharge is plenty. If you typically are using it on only one mob, you might want 3 end mod, but if you have at least 2 mobs then the 2 slots will cap you off.
Fitness - Agreed
Fighting - by taste
Medicine - by taste
Speed - I consider hasten a must to maximize the potential of this combo. YMMV This does put you in line to have SS for travel unless you want yetanother pool power and leads to selecting hurdle over sprint from fitness.
Leaping - Acrobatics will be usefull if you PvP alot. For PvE grounded is more than sufficient.

Build Up
Honestly I hate this power. 10 seconds of +damage. Just what I want and need as a brute. NOT! I honestly hate this power. Some love it. But I am not one of those people.
Fault
An ok attack until you get your aoe tremor. This attack is great in the lower lvls for knocking down foes and killing them fast while they cant kill you.
Rating: 4/5
Recommended Slotting: I dont remember. I respected out of it.

2 of the best powers in the set. fault lets you use aid self without fear of interuption, and build up lets you one shot bosses. whats wrong with that?
Like i said about build up, some ppl like it, some dont. i just really didnt like it.
In my experience, it's not that buildup is a /bad/ power in any way, it's just that it's of much less value to brutes than it is to scrappers or blasters. Brutes will have, with decent fury and a few dmg SO's, an automatic +200% dmg at least, and since the buildup bonus is just added to the base along with that, it doesnt have as visible an impact when you already have that much boosting. It's like popping a fulcrum shift and then a siphon power after it. Yes, it improves, but not enough for you to care.
Rule number six of an empathy defender is NEVER underestimate a blaster's ability to die. I don't care if he has CM, Fort, both RAs, bubbles (both FF and Sonic), and is fighting next to a Storm defender with hurricane on. If there is a way to die in that situation, the blaster will find it.
I would have to agree that Fault is a great power, actually my favorite power in the set. Knocking a whole group down with the possibility of disorienting them is awesome. Really good damage mitigation. I've always slotted it with 2 accuracy, 2 recharge, 1 endred and 1 disorient. Since you would have Lightning Reflexes with this build, one recharge could be replaced with something else.
I also like Build Up on my brutes. With full fury and BU, that's some serious damage to a boss, making that fight much shorter. Also, there isn't any better damage mitigation than something that is already dead.
Since Stone Melee is rather endurance intensive, I really like to make the most of each attack and make sure I hit, so I like 2 accuracy enhancements in each attack. This is personal preference of course, but I think it helps a lot.
I'm having trouble fitting some powers on my stone/elec brute... A build would be helpful, here's mine, level 14 so far... I'm having problems putting Grounded earlier than 41 and fitting Condutive Shield in, is it necessary? Thanks. PS: Build Up at 30 is for Siren's ^^

Take grounded earlier and don't take tremor until 40+ -- I took it after getting Ball Lighting. It's too weak on its own as an AOE. I'd drop resuscitate.

Thanks, nice to know that... I can take Grounded at 32. What about Cond. Shield? Is it important?
I put ressuc. at 49 because I didn't think of anything else, but I wonder if Cond. Shield is important early on or if I can take it at 44-49.

You could probably hold off on Conductive Shield until the 20's. It's your Fire, Cold, Energy and Negative Energy resistance so I wouldn't skip it all together, no way! I took it at level 6 and it's been a great help. It doesn't need to be ran at all times in the early levels, but as those damage types become more common, I tend to run it more often.

Thanks, I just can't find where to put it in my build above before the 30's. Would be useful in Siren's Call...
I have since updated this guide. Visit the new version at the following link.
Fellnair's Stone/Electric Brute Guide Version 2.0
New version of guide.
Fellnair's Stone/Electric Brute Guide Version 2.1
Stone Melee/Electric Defense is a very amazing set. It is strong offensively and has great resistance. It has a few downsides but the good sides to the set overcome the bad sides. The downsides are that the end cost is high, and its hard to get them down until you get SOs. The great thing is that in pvp if u battle an energy/energy blaster you will not be touched at all. The build is fairly good for pvp and good for pve.
Lets start with an overview of the powers, followed by a description, a rating, then a recommendation for slotting.
Stone Melee
Stone Fists
Stone fists is a great attack to start with. It has fairly good damage for a started attack, and the recharge isnt too long.
Rating: 4/5
Recommended Slotting: 2x Damage, 1x Accuracy, 1x Endurance Reduction, 1x Recharge
Stone Mallet
A fairly good attack. Great as a lvl 2 attack. Grab this attack asap. One of the attacks that will be very useful to you until you reach the high lvls.
Rating: 5/5
Recommended Slotting: 2x Damage, 2x Endurance Reduction, 1x Accuracy, 1x Recharge
Heavy Mallet
The second of the two mallet attacks. You want to get both because the mallets are very strong. To be an effective stone/elec brute you must get both mallets.
Rating: 5/5
Recommended Slotting: 2x Damage, 2x Endurance Reduction, 1x Accuracy, 1x Recharge
Build Up
Honestly I hate this power.
Taunt
What is the point of this power? As a brute why do you need to make one foe come attack you and no1 else. This power is [u]not[u] for a stone/elec brute.
Rating: 0/5
Recommended Slotting: If you took this power find out the slotting on your own. IDIOT!
Seismic Smash
This is [u]the[u] power of the stone melee set. It will become your favorite power by far. This power is a must. Great damage!
Rating: 5/5
Recommended Slotting: 2x Accuracy (You want it to hit. If it doesnt your going to be mad) 2x Endurance Reduction, 1x Recharge, 1x Damage
Hurl Bolder
This power is ok. The animation is long and the damage is just ok. The thing that a lot of brutes like about this power is that it has range. I respected out of this power as well because of the slow animation. Im leaving the choice of choosing this power up to you.
Rating: 3/5
Recommended Slotting: 2x Range, 2x Damage, 1x Accuracy, 1x Endurance Reduction
Tremor
The one and only aoe in the entire Stone Melee set. This attack is a much. A great attack for when your getting aggroed. You can run into a group and then hit this power. It will knock them down and do damage all at the same time.
Rating: 5/5
Recommended Slotting: 2x Damage, 2x Endurance Reduction, 1x Accuracy, 1x Recharge
That just about sums up stone melee. Lets look at the electric defense now.
Electric Defense
Standard Slotting For Electric Defense is 3x Attack Resistance, 2x End Reduction. If you see under Recommended Slotting that it says Standard Slotting that is what the slotting is.
Charged Armor
You are forced to take this power at lvl 1, but that isnt a bad thing. This is a must for the elec defense set. It is one of the 3 shields you get.
Rating: 5/5
Recommended Slotting: Standard Slotting
Lightning Field
An endurance reduction (to the foe) defense. What a great thing to have. This power is a great one to take. I didnt take it at first and was very disappointed. It drains more endurance then some of the other defense powers but it is still good.
Rating: 4/5
Recommended Slotting: 2x Damage, 3x Endurance Reduction
Conductive Shield
The 2nd shield you will get. This is another must have. Great resistance.
Rating: 5/5
Recommended Slotting: Standard Slotting
Static Shield
The 3rd shield in the set. If you have all three shields you will be very strong.
Rating: 5/5
Recommended Slotting: Standard Slotting
Ground
A good substitution to acrobatics if you stay on the ground. If you jump around or fly around this power isnt for you because it wont help you.
Rating: 3/5
Recommended Slotting: Not really sure yet. Ill have to get back to you on this one.
Lightning Reflexes
This power is kind of like the sprint power in the fitness set. Same concept. Lighting Reflex's also inscreases your attack speed and resists -spd.
Rating: 3/5
Recommended Slotting: 3x Running Speed
Conserve Power
Not a very useful power when at lvl 35 you can get Power Sink. This power recharges your endurance at has a very long recharge.
Rating: 1/5
Recommended Slotting: Dont bother.
Power Sink
This power is great. Unslotted, it has a 60 second recharge, and for every foe it hits it gives you ¼ of your endurance back.
Rating: 5/5
Recommended Slotting: 3x Recharge, 3x Endurance Modification
Power Surge
This power makes you almost invincible for 3 minutes. Just hope you arent in the process of killing when this power is done. Because it leaves you with 10% of your hp and 0 end. It last like this for 10 seconds without recharging. Oh ya, it also makes you look like a gremlin.
Rating: 4/5
Recommended Slotting: Whatever you want. I dont want to pick what the final powers slotting should be.
Alright, so we have looked at both the stone melee set and the electric defense. Now lets look at some of the power pools that go well with this set.
Fitness
Stamina is a must with stone melee. Pick this power up soon.
Fighting
Tough and Weave can be useful, but u better make sure you have stamina full slotted if you get these as well. Because with all of the defense your going to have with stone melee your end is going to get drained easier.
That about sums up the Stone Melee/Electric Defense Brute. If I have forgotten to add anything please post letting me no.
