    Def vs Res

    There's a difference between playstyles and the blatently silly.

    What I have to ask you is Shannon, would you even consider playing a tank in a PvE based team that totally defies the whole purpose of a team tank?

    I think the answer would be no, but I could be wrong.

    But when advice is given from those with enough experience to rival the bible combined, personally I think they are slightly loopy, but its entirely their perogative ofc. But I can definately say, those who do team with a tank that doesn't do what a PvE team tank is supposed to do, especially if the team is relying on them, they aren't going to stay in team long due to the mass amount of debt and/or boredom. Seen it many a time in a PuG, and its not going to change now. Most people on this game will not develope a sense of compassion and patience of a saint when they are going nowhere fast in this particular situation.

    You have to respect that some people are trying to learn the game, experimenting. Also at times in doing something more efficient one may have someone bodge it on you (ie herd messers) and cause you to look stupid (ie die over a longer than expected fight duration or be less buffed by number of foes) . Sometimes I wonder if put the round peg in the round hole is too major of an instruction. On the cavern trial I have had to go as far as telling people how to click on the stupid stone XD

    If someone is learning then what better way to learn than to listen to those who have done it, rather than ignore it and pretend the advice given is wrong. I have no problems with people who want to experiment, but HELL NO am I gonna team with someone who baltently ignores advice and screws over any chance of the team succeeding, and I think a lot of people would say the same.

    Also can I ask what is the point of a tank, whose primary focus in a team is to hold aggro away from the rest of the team, having power choices (whirlwind for example) that screws up his ability to do that?

    Scrapper build?

    I have a a spines/regen at 50, and a katana/regen at 50, and currently lvling a BS/Fire which is 19 atm.

    I love regen, its easy-ish (have to keep your healing button finger at the ready), spines/regen is CoH on easy mode imo. And the same could be said for Spine/WP or Spines/Fire.

    You want a challenge then DA or SR is a very good choice, mind you DA laughs at Carnies and anything else thats Psi, and SR laughs at everything with Elude on

    As for secondary I've pretty much tried them all, and I have enjoyed them all, so its down to you to decide depending on player preference, though i will say spines covers melee, AoE and Range so its a very good allrounder with the extra added slows. Katana/SR is a good combo (almost unhittable with parry in melee) and DM/SR with the stacked -Acc is also very good, and DM also provides a small heal too.

    Entirely up to you though, good luck and have fun whatever you decide

    I wouldn't say that to stone tanks. the numbers for defense and resistance I got from mine in granite armor was around 40% defense across everything but psi. Damage Resistance you'll easily cap at 95% smashing/lethal, everything but psi resistance is around 80-83%. Have not had any major endurance problems unless there's alot of sappers.

    I don't, if I can help it, choose peoples powers on them. I may make suggestions. I often only alter the slotting. Why? Because I don't know what they're up to and who they play with.

    Teamed with a Mind emp then getting some def is nice, because once you add their fort + maybe manuevers where will your defense be at?

    As stated extra added defense is a bonus, but its not necessarily needed for a powerset that doesn't incorporate and type of defense. The only defense i have on my fire tank is from CJ, but i only use it for the immob res, the defense from that isn't noticeable. And what you have to remember is that in your team you're not always going to be teamed with another player that can enhance your defense, which means you're going to need a solid consistent build to ensure the likelyhood of your team eating concrete is low/non-existant

    I think it's more likely they'll just use the drop tables we currently have, so that you'd have to make a TF before you could use the Tf reward table and so on.

    In all honesty, a fire tank doesn't need def, you want as much res as possible. With tough you can get your smash/lethal res to about 70%. Leave the def to invun, ice and stone tankers. Hasten would be advisable as others have said so healing flames recharges quicker. And the whole point of a tank is to keep aggro, throwing it about with whirlwind is not helping anyone, let alone yourself. and if you want a "flurry" power use sands of mu vet reward. Drop all def based powers because they are a waste, set bonuses are just a bonus (duh ) and try to squeeze as much res out of the fire tank as possible. I've been playing mine fore 3 years and def doesnt help it

  21. Ok. Lets me get 2 things straight.

    1) Using the word "pointless" was perhaps the wrong word to use, so apologies on that.
    2) I'm not trying to "Dissuade" anyone from choosing anything, hence why I have stated more than once that it is of my own opinion.

    My Invul tank does exceedingly well without weave or tough and its only slotted with SO's. The best way possible to find out what works the best is Trial and Error. Apologies to anyone who i have offended by posting here...

Its another toggle, and one thing Invul does not need is another toggle unless you want to be sitting there waiting for your endurance to recharge rather than your powers. and as for your referal to sets not everybody uses them either due to a)Don't want to or b) can't afford them. invincibility provides more than enough defense and incase you hadnt forgotten Invul also has a stupid amount of resistance. Weave, again imo, is not needed. Dont get me wrong, it helps, but tbh id rather be able to retaliate with the endurance saved instead of being a wall/pacifist

    need a bit of advice about this build. I had a play about for a couple of hours on Mids™ and this is what I came up with.
    Also i have 3 LotG +7.5% rech to slot in but Mids wouldn't allow me to put them all in to CJ.
    Any thoughts on how to improve the build would be ace
