The change to Light Form sounds nice, and I suppose Inner Light is now a slightly more useful power, but I guess my mostly-Human Peacebringer will remain on the dusty shelf if I still can't participate in melee without annoying everyone else.

He'll receive an email from Steam with a link to claim the gift. Once it's registered in his Steam client, he can right-click the game in the library and then "View Game CD Key" from the context menu.
Then he should log in to his PlayNC Master Account and upgrade the existing account.
(I don't remember if you have to install the game through Steam before the CD Key option becomes available. If so, I suppose he could copy his existing CoH installation to C:\Program Files (x86)\Steam\steamapps\common\city of heroes\ to save downloading it all again.) -

Quote:Pretty much.Or ... and this is what I've found myself considering as an option for some characters ... are you going to totally IGNORE their past Redside and retcon them as ALWAYS having been heroic?
I'm currently working on a new scrapper, and her backstory will be entirely villainous. The alignment tab may well betray me, but I'm just working with the tools I have available. -
the costume parts are absolutely incredible, but whilst i'm sure there will be lots of costumes made that utilize one or two of the new pieces well, on the whole the new sets feel far too few and specific.
i'm not really sure what i was expecting from this pack -- and as most of my characters are just vanilla people, I wasn't banking on anything in particular -- but like many others have said it really doesn't seem worth the premium. -
Quote:Agreed. I find the repeated stream of popups really annoying, especially in a fight.Seriously? You can't even opt out?
That's terrible, having the prompt pop out every single time was extremely frustrating.
Also the fact it has a somewhat short time to accept it, and like it was already said, having the prompt pop up during fight is just bad and very annoying.
I'm very disappointed at this change.
Make an option to auto-accept or don't change back.
If there is a problem with sound effects, that should be addressed separately. -
Quote:Do you use the Start menu's search bar?Or, say, setting up a system restore point. I still don't know where that is hidden in Windows 7, because it's not in the same play where rolling back to an earlier restore point is, so I have to search for it every time. And Lord help me once I start needing that disk management tool to alter my partitions, because I've no idea where to even look. It's in Computer Management in XP, I believe, but Windows 7 doesn't seem to follow any logic that I can deduce
Hit Start and immediately type "system restore". I see the System Restore app, followed by "Restore... etc, etc" and "Create a restore point".
"disk management" gives me "create and format hard disk partitions", which is a reasonable name for what turns out to be Disk Management.
It's a great little feature. You can also flip Control Panel back to something more classic with "View by: Small icons" -
Quote:I had this last year, when my rewards should have been August & November, but decided to jump to August and December instead.Once it gets thrown off, expect it to stay thrown off. I've had mine fixed twice so far, and can already see it's off by a month again when my next one comes due. I have a feelign I will be annoying Support every 3 months like clockwork from here on out.
I noticed a few days ago that the latest reward was showing March, and not February. Whereas last time it took a lot of back-and-forth to get it fixed, this time it was escalated and fixed within 24 hours.
(I imagine the next one will be in June instead of May and I'll have to petition again, though...) -
Bizarrely, my account has recently moved to a four month reward cycle.
Last reward August, next reward... December? Maybe my calendar is broken. -
I changed it to use Diellan's minHeight approach, since I'd noticed the occasional screwy post as well. Nice trick too, I'd not thought of that.
Doesn't quite push the signature down as far, but it shouldn't cause any more layout problems either. -
Ideally, you'd be able to fix the signature to the bottom of the table cell, but the signature is a direct descendant of a TD and AFAIK Firefox doesn't allow positioning to be set on table elements.
I've added a (slightly messy) function to push the signature down into the empty space alongside the Quote/Reply buttons. Comments on aesthetics welcome.
Also, it should work in Safari (tested) and Opera (untested) again. -
I can do that, sure. If you reinstall the script, I've added a quick regular expression test to decide if an image should be shown.
Tools > Greasemonkey > Manage User Scripts... and edit the script.
At the top, you'll see some "allowed_hosts" lines. Comment/uncomment the desired one, or edit your own.
If you just want Titan-hosted images, use
var allowed_hosts = /cohtitan.com/i;
If you want several allowed domains, seperate them with a pipe.
var allowed_hosts = /cohtitan.com|photobucket.com/i;
var allowed_hosts = /cohtitan.com|photobucket.com|imageshack.com/i;
and so on. -
I have a work-in-progress mod for Firefox to tone down certain signatures.
-
Okay Zombie, try reinstalling it.
Should work with older versions of Firefox now, and as an added bonus, Safari (with GreaseKit, tested) and probably Opera (untested) too. -
Ah, that explains it. I'm using the new DOM traversal API introduced in 3.5.
I'll have a look at a workaround. -
Because I am a hateful person with no appreciation for creativity or happiness, I offer a Greasemonkey script to do the following:
- Strip colors from signature text
- Strip enlarged fonts from signature text
- Replace signature images with an inline hyperlink
- Re-align signatures to the bottom of the post
It provides a middle ground between disabling all images (I don't mind them when they're relevant to a post) and allowing images but disabling signatures.
Images are replaced with descriptive text like [Image: http://server/image.jpg] or [Link: http://myweb.site/ Image: http://server/image.jpg] if they link to something.
Safari and Opera users should be able to use this too.

If you encounter problems or have suggestions, please let me know. -
Here's one that I found useful - new/updated posts don't have a great deal of contrast in the thread view; this rule will target them.
td.alt1 a[style*="font-weight"] {
color: red !important;
}

This will take a little getting used to, I think. Nice that it matches the rest of coh.com in design.
Okay, forums are usable again. -
Is there a way to expand the front page to show sub-forums without clicking through to a category?
-
Does the software have the ability to remap the buttons depending on the active application?
CoH doesn't recognise all the buttons on my Logitech, but the software allows me to remap button6 to say, Ctrl+F9 if cityofheroes.exe is running. Then I make an in-game bind using Ctrl+F9 instead.
A bit hacky, but you get the idea. -
Oh, if it's just a problem with installation, can't you just elevate the VB runtime installer (or register the runtimes from an elevated command prompt)?
I don't have a problem with your program, it's just a dangerous suggestion to permanently disable UAC when you can right-click a program and have it run with full privileges if needed. -
[ QUOTE ]
This isn't a problem with the program, it's a program with Vista's overly sensitive security.
[/ QUOTE ]
Not really. UAC isn't going anywhere in future versions of Windows, so if it doesn't work properly then there is a problem with your program.
At least recommend users right-click and "Run as Administrator" instead. -
The space is more than a little constraining, but I can offer the digests in tweet format.
