Then consider the average spawn of 3 minions and one LT, where each minion takes 4 hits to kill and the LT takes 10, that's about 44 seconds, meaning you're just about guaranteed to whiff at least once each spawn.
because math isn't proof. not in this case. you are over exaggerating. combat logs will prove how many times you missed. and if it is taking you 4 shots to kill a minion and 10 to kill a lt, then that is your diff settings. you are given tools to help you along the way. if you choose not to use them, it is not the games fault or the dev's fault. it is YOUR fault.

I get it. You don't care. But there are many that do. Why don't you list all the things you dislike about the game so I can go thru it and point out all the things that don't matter to me and claim it's just your perception and that you're overreacting to something that's not a big deal?
give us your combat logs then. you were asked for them earlier and didn't give them. wonder why? is it because you can be proved wrong just like some other people when asked for them? and yes, you are over reacting to something.

Is there really such a huge "I love to miss" faction of this game that I don't know about?

Now if you're talking about my laundry list of issues, then maybe yeah, that would require a bit more tinkering, but still nothing requiring a major overhaul, and certainly nothing requiring new code.

If it were just one or two things then yes, it's easy to overlook. But it's not. Let's take a typical level 15 mission. Well even set it to -1. Let's try Council. Run into the first mob. Even with a 95% chance to hit I whiff on my first shot. Well it's only 1 out of 20, no big deal. Clearly I won't miss again for a long time. Second shot... whiff!!! damn they're even levels in my -1 mission and I only have a 92.5% chance to hit. So much for the streakbreaker. I then take few hits from a rifle... oops, now my defense is in negatives, so they're hitting me a lot more often, putting me further into negatives and try as I might I can't kill them fast enough cause they're now hitting me with nearly every shot. Then the LT comes and fires off a concussion grenade and I go flying backward. I get back up and try to attack but dammit, I'm now out of endurance, which is fine cause I don't live much longer anyway. This mission sucks. I'll drop it and take something else.

Lessee, my choices are CoT, CoT, or CoT, so OK, let's try CoT. I run in and an LT immediate debuffs my tohit down to 45%. So I back out of the PbAoE. Now the LT level boss mezzes me. So I get to sit there while the entire spawn pounds on me. I finally wake up, and bam! mezzed again. Lather rinse repeat till dead, which thankfully isn't very long. On my way back from the hospital I fill my tray with break frees. Unfortunately it's not enough to make it completely thru the mission (I need one for every spawn) so I wind up getting to know the floor nurse and inspiration vendor on a first name basis.

Clearly CoT aren't the way to go. Let's try Tsoo. I get one single shot off (which of course misses) and then I'm chain slept. Or siphon-speeded to 1/10 run speed and recharge. Or siphon-powered down to 1/4 normal damage. Or continually knocked on my *** and my tohit debuffed by the Sorc's Hurricane. This clearly won't do. I would go try Lost, but I know from past experience they too will perma-mez me to death. Gee, who the hell is left?

Now of course these are a tad bit exaggerated (but absolutely NOT fabricated), but I think you get the idea. It's not just a single issue, it's a lot of little single issues that keep adding up to become a big issue.

Why do you think people powerlevel to level 22? Cause running out of endurance isn't fun. Why do you think so many people set the difficulty to -1? Cause constantly whiffing isn't fun. Why does everyone clamor for mez and KB protection (go check out the prices of KB IOs if you're ever in doubt)? Because being perma-mezzed or continually knocked on your *** isn't fun. Add it all up and there's a whole lot of "not fun" going on.

Making matters worse is the binary nature of almost all of it. Get mez protection and you never ever have to worry about being mezzed. Oh, your set doesn't have it? Well too bad for you! Ditto with KB protection. Sick and tired of being end drained by Mu or slowed to a crawl by Artemis? Well I guess you should have picked a set with -end or -slow resistance. Why do some people get to completely ignore the BS while others are forced to suffer thru it? Doesn't seem right, does it?

So then the next question one should ask is "is all this 'un-fun' stuff absolutely necessary?" Clearly it's not, because it simply does not exist to this magnitude in other MMOs. Do we need a triple-redundant limiter on our abilities when other games have demonstrated that a single limiter works just as well?

And the final question to ask is "with all the current and upcoming MMO competition is it really wise to not revisit these and other issues that ultimately force players away from the game?" CoX is no longer the only superhero MMO in town. And there are 3 more coming. What seemed like a solid design decision 5-8 years ago very well not be all that sound anymore.
sounds like someone needs to learn how to use inspirations. as for your thinking that these things are driving away players, they may be driving you away, but you would be the only one. there has to be some sort of challenge to a game or it will fail. if you don't like this game anymore then go read my last post before this one. in fact here, i'll quote it so you won't have to do anything at all:

so if, you are, saying you had enough

sung to the toon of that Sound of Music song.
  4. see if there is any way to update your video drivers. they are over 2 years old. and you might want to invest in a cooling pad. heat is the biggest enemy of a laptop. keep it clean by blowing it out often also.
  5. i remember it to. came up around a double xp weekend.

Well this is pretty much what it's been reduced to for me. I never solo anymore. Hell, I don't even play much anymore. When a new issue drops I come back to check it out, play for a few days, maybe a week or so before I I'm over all the same BS, and then I'm gone. I then go solo in a different superhero MMO, space MMO, or fantasy MMO, none of which bend over backwards to aggravate and frustrate me.

And really, if you and the others think the game is so great why are you here in a thread started by a guy who's sick and tired of missing so much? Go have another glass of Castle-flavored Paragon Kool-Aid and find a "gee isn't this game swell" thread.

Oh, and when Going Rogue kills CoV, remember I told ya so.

    Character Order

i notice this happen sometimes after going to a server i have never been on or haven't gone to in a long time. this may sound wierd but try a disc clean up and defragt if you haven't done one in a while.
  9. not a problem. when i buy a new comp, i always get rid of norton or macafee and download avast. it's free and is better then either of the others.

until i looked at the link i thought it was Hello Kitty: Island Adventures. but that may be to complicated still.

[*] Not that I'm saying the pirates set would change this, mind.
no. this is a want. which is something the game can and has lived without. a need would be something the game would die without. so again, this is a want.

But again, why should I have to go out of my way and make multiple trips to the Field Analyst because of what's essentially a poor design decision?

    Again, easier to just avoid.

And it's not like this is a unique situation. I know people that won't do Malta missions cause they don't want to deal with Sappers. Or DE cause of of the stupid beacons and their high resistances to various damage types. Or council because they don't have KB protection and can't stand being knocked around like a ping-pong ball by their spammed AoE grenades. Or Tsoo cause they don't have mez protection and find being perma-mezzed to death "unfun". The list goes on and on. Not just one poor design choice, but dozens. It's one of the reasons this game will never be anything but mediocre.
awe. isn't that a shame that this game doesn't have a cruise control button so you can sit back and not have to do anything. get over it. there has to be some sort of strategy to the game or guess what, people will not continue to play. for those of you that want a mindless dribble for a game to play, go create your own game like that.

again, you are trying to make a mountain out of a non exsistant mole hill on an entire field of concrete. if you haven't noticed, you are the only one whining and ******** about it now. if you can not stand this game anymore then move on. they are not going to change the mechanics for just you.
  13. it looks like a video driver problem. not sure, but check it out. it might help.
  14. post a CoHHelper and HijckThis report. we can look them over and give you any ideas we have.
  15. looks like bad video drivers. try getting new ones.

I would love to see some water control, or water blasts. I really thing that some of the rad blast's powers look alot like water (the one with the 4 bubble-y balls thrown, for example).
I think a water control/blast using the rad animation would be both realistic looking and fun to play.

It's just not a superhero world w/o water control!
ice is frozen water. there you go.
  17. what time? i can log in a toon for you to start it with. as long as you start it before 8:30pm est.

Castle himself has said he wants building your character to be painful. Really? Again I ask, what purpose does it serve to frustrate your playerbase? Especially when your competition doesn't.

We're no longer able to skip 3-4 powers in a set like we used to...
i beg to differ. you can skip as many powers as you want.

i stick by what i said earlier about you needing to go play another game. if missing 1 in 20 times pisses you off that much, then stop playing. i know it sounds harsh, but if you can't handle it....

i have had times where i have gone through entire missions without missing once. then i have times where i go through and it seems like that is all i am doing. that is because no one remembers the hits, just the misses. and when you miss, that is all you look for. stop trying to make a mountain out of a non exsistant mole hill on concrete. it doesn't work all that well.

as far as the epic classes not working out, my solution is make better ones the main flaw of the curret epic classes was that you had no choices on powers they where what they where how about an epic class that has access to all powers for all Ats and can mix and match with the limitation being for example if the empathy aoe heal you can'r have the radiation one (same for e rez strong punches shots etc) I dunno it was a thought...
uhh... how about absolutely 1 bajillion% no. can you say highly unbalanced and overpowered?

any way otherthings I'd like to see as a vet reward:

Spider back pieces like th arachnos soldiers have

and how about a new Epic class for those that have been around a REAL LONG TIME, I mean give them something uber special maybe for like the 99th month (I would have gone 100 but its a new reward every 3 months)
if you are talking about the ones with the legs, make a VEAT.

and /unsigned to the 99 month vet reward. sooooo many people will scream about it that it wouldn't be worth the time to develope one.

Or have a single LT-class critter debuff your tohit, defense, and/or resistances into the negatives. Or run out of endurance in the middle of a fight and be stuck with Brawl. Yes, what FUN! Which is why I hardly play anymore, and when I do it's only for brief periods of time.

And I play a decent amount of that other superhero game and have no complaints about the game mechanics. Funny that.

If none of this stuff bothers you, hey, that's great. But after 6 years my tolerance for it is pretty much gone.
yep. sounds like you need to take up a new game and not play CoH anymore. i very rarely get kb'd, mezzed, debuffed(and when i do it isn't what you describe which is over-exaggerating) or run out of end. but then again, when you're trying to play at difficulty settings that aren't designed around a solo person, you may have problems.
