More masterminds needed (primary/secondary)

1. We need a /ninjutsu secondary for masterminds, so ninja masterminds can be more ninja-like.
2. We need a pirates/ primary for masterminds, because we have pirate costumes, and hey, let's run with that.
3. We need a /piracy secondary.
4. We need an epic battle between pirates/ninjutsu and ninjas/piracy to see which mismatch is MORE AWESOME.

I think you're confusing needed with wanted...

While I'm in favor of new MM pets, think about this for a moment.

Issue 6 gave us Ninjas, Robotics, Mercs, and Necros.

Issue 7 gave us Thugs

Issue 18(Actually GR, but release date is the same) gives us Demon Summoning.

11 issues between the set releases. Concidering we're just now getting DS, I wouldn't count on getting another MM set for... a while.

No, no, these are clearly needs. If we do not get pirates as a mastermind primary, thousands of people will die of starvation and warfare*. (Which is to say, yeah, "needed" is perhaps a bit enthusiastic. But really, how can we consider this game complete without the ability to compare a pirate commanding ninjas to a ninja commanding pirates?)
[*] Not that I'm saying the pirates set would change this, mind.

no. this is a want. which is something the game can and has lived without. a need would be something the game would die without. so again, this is a want.

You're forgetting the issues where we got new MM secondaries, so (discounting issue 6 since that was our starting point), the actual list of issues since then where MMs have gotten some love are...

Issue 7 - Thugs

Issue 12 - Storm Summoning

Issue 13 - Pain Domination

Issue 16 - Thermal Radiation

Issue 18 - Demon Summoning

The largest gap we see is actually 5 issues, and it should be noted that no other ATs got any new powers during those issues either. Those are the issues that brought us new toys on the systems end like the Market, the Invention System, Ouroboros, Mission Architect, and the Mayhem Missions.

So yeah, while I certainly won't be complaining when MMs pick up new sets, I don't feel the need to complain now either. ATs are one of the few things Red Side that have NOT been neglected since issue 6.

Considering the fact that the developers, logically, tend to concentrate their development resources where it will benefit the most players, I am happy to see that MMs haven't been forgotten. After all, when they make a new MM primary set, they know it's never gonna be able to be used anywhere else except by MMs (unless of course they introduce some new ATs at some point). When they develop a new primary set for just about any other AT, they know they will be able to put it to use as a primary--or at the very least a secondary--on at least one other AT.

There is only one group of characters that someone might be able to argue have been somewhat neglected when it comes to powersets--Kheldian. That, by the way, is a completely unbiased opinion from someone who does NOT play a Kheldian. On the other hand, there is a good reason, thematically, why Peacebringers and Warshades each have only one primary set and one secondary set. The lack of flexibility in powersets is also greatly made up for by their high level of flexibility in how they utilize those sets. So even this is open for debate.

I cannot believe that you responded in this manner to that post. Please adjust your sarcasm detector, it's not working.

You've only been here a month. Give it time.

(I wish I had saved Arcanaville's angry rant about how I11 didn't allow her to realize her dreams of a dual-archery scrapper. I swear three or four people took it at face value on the first page alone.)

Wow. That's beautiful.

I think I once got someone with my announcement of "GURPS GURPS", the new P&P roleplaying game supplement that would allow you to use the incredible variety of GURPS supplements with the popular GURPS system.

I'd like to see some form of mutant or alien minions for the MMs. But my main want right now is colorable Minions. I mean they already have them on the Zombies.

On a serious note, we still need Plants and Thought Control Masterminds.

http://boards.cityofheroes.com/showt...341#post835341 This one still needs a little work (Charm Foe, maybe the Tier 1 henchmen).
