I would also like a truely magic power set with circles of containmetn..pure magic blasts, summons...
would probably be a controller/dom set -
I would like a powerset that is variable based on enemy being fought.
Like say is able to syphon abilities from the badguys.
I think it would be freakin hillarious in pvp too. -
Lag is Lag is Lag....
Making a "pocket D" AE isn't an effective option....
How about if you didn't have to be in the same zone as the rest of your team to enter the AE mission. Like i can be in St. martial , player 2and3 in cap, player 4 in shark, player 5 6 7 in po, and player 8 in mercy. I set the mission and you can enter from any AE terminal?
That way you don't have to have everyone crowded into certain AE buildings to team with them. -
ummmm...dude you have been reasonable through most of this discourse across the boards....
but...wow...
I highly recommend walking away for the afternoon or something. -
But that's just it.....why should they want thier content to surpass AE content? I'm not saying the AE should surpass Dev content either....just wondering. If you take the reward out of the MA, you will have put something into the game that took 2 issues just to refine that will be ignored by ALOT of the playerbase...especially when you are basing your new marketing stratagy for the game around this model.
-
I have PM'ed Mod8, I just haven't recieved response yet.
I recommend ignoring CassandraCorte...You will never get more out of her other thatn the things you have quoted. -
They have already removed the exploits. The test on patch removes alot of the outliers too.
Will AE still be the powergamer's playground...you bet. Where else can you and your team mow through armies and armies of lvl 54 bosses? -
Aye, ways to get rid of stamina if desired:
Heavy end reduction slotted into powers
Slot for as much Recovery and Max Endurance as possible.
Recovery will increase the percentage of end you get back per sec.
Max End will give you a larger base number for the percentage from recovery to multiply against. -
Bridges would just bring back payfarming and doorsitting.
When you remove AE buildings, you just force the same number of people into fewer spaces....creating even more lag and chat in those places.
Maybe, maybe if they changed the entire AE to be like stuidio B..... -
Shrug, aye, take the MA back and we just go back to Pay farms and RMTer's
-
I disagree...like you said, there is alot of room for interpretation. That is the problem...there is no stated position one way or the other and everyone just assumes their side is the correct one. I have always defended the positon that as long as no exploits are in use, a farm is perfectly legit form of gaming and use of the AE. My personal favorite is an All boss run with 30 or so ambushes.
I also have said many times across alot of these type threads that people should live and let live and use the tools provided to streamline their playing experience to be more enjoyable to them. Everyone farms something...or does noone rerun any content. TF and merits are designed for Farming...run them over and over until you get enough merits to buy whatever it is you want. Lets not forget all the badges/accolades. Don't confuse farming with powerleveling with exploits with outliers. These terms have all become interchangable in some people's vocabulary and I think it accounts for alot of the bad blood between the sides.
Everytime I see my someone post 'MY playstyle, mission, zerging, pvp, whatever is more important than YOUR same thing", it gets my blood up. Its the same when people think their feelings about the AE are superior to the other players. -

About half way down. It says the architect isn't intended for farming or easy leveling. Then in the next paragraph it discusses that the dev's have "discussed with raised voices" these same issues and the current system is what they settled on.
Will there be adjustments...Yes...look at the current patch.
But there has yet to be an EULA adjustment, a policy statment, or even an "official" unified position on the subject?
There is a seconded letter, also from Posi, that says about the same thing I'm trying to find. -
Read posi's letter. The dev's don't agree on farms at all. The current system is what they have all compromised on as acceptable for all sides.
-
and that is the problem....no one has more right to use an aspect of the game as anyone else.
Tell ya what....we'll start at the lowest arc number and find one of each of the "arc tags" and delete anything using them that comes after it too because they are repeats of the previous incarnation....only one character history, only one playermade TF, only one kidnap, etc.
You see...just because you don't approve of it, doesn't invalidate it either. I just don't see any of them yelling for your arcs to be removed so their's are easier to find. -
Probably because you can't discuss culture decline without discussing reasoning behind it. That always leads to a discussion about powergaming and farming. This in turn leads to people defending their chosen method of game play. All of these things have been discussed at length in various threads that have been shutdown by Mod8 without any of us knowing exactly where the "safe" thread is.
I have PMed Mod8 asking this very question. If i get a response I will let ya'll know. -
Well.....
I have been wondering the same question honestly, and have decided to start converting the i14 discussion/feedback threads in the developer's corner, as well as the posi letter feedback thread.
Since these are the threads created by the Admin, i figure it is about the best we are going to get. I didn't want to take over a thread for all of an issue with just our farming discussions, but that looks like the best solution to me -

The higher the enemy class (min, lt, boss, EB, AV) the more tickets they have the potential to drop.
[/ QUOTE ]
Does anyone know the ratio?
Furthermore, assuming that one person does all the damage to a baddie soloing, does the same level minion always reward the same number of tickets if he awards any (that is, every time you defeat a minion you either get 0 tickets or X - or can you get any number from 0-X?)
If the number is constant - that when you do get tix it's always the same amount, what is the ratio of tickets from min/lt/boss?
[/ QUOTE ]
I have done testing, but didn't work out exact ratios.
And no, it isn't a fixed number, it is a range. -

You know...for once CA...you posted something I agree with. This must be the end. Doooooo00000OOOOM!!!!11!!

In my experience, it's true. Noticeable, perhaps, but necessary? I do fine against reasonably-sized PvE spawns with just SOs and regular IOs. My friends who PvP more than I do have told me that's all I really need for most of this game. I don't need an Indy car to go to the supermarket.
Now, if you're the sort of player who's frequently out there on the edge of what you can handle, in PvE or PvP, then yes, you are going to want and need more. But then, as I said, I submit that you are not a "casual" player; you are a "serious" player, and should expect to put in the time and effort required to improve your personal skill and equip yourself properly.

key word, reasonably sized. . .say you are the lead brute (BRUTE NOT TANK!) on something like the ITF or RSF with an 8 man team. . .sadly with plain IOs you will be destroyed, unless of course you have several buffers capping everything you have, or one healer dedicated to only you.
And honestly. . . most of the PvPers I know don't use purples. . . they use other things to get the defense bonus (which only what. . .1 purple set gives?)
*please note EVERYTHING I POST is my opinion, or noted from my personal observations! please don't go shouting about how wrong I am. . . everyone is entitled to their opinion. On that note, please also don't take offense to anything I respond on your posting about =]. (now I know the sarcasm will ensue. . .)

RSF can be done with any brute....all it requires is a little stratagy, same with ITF. If you are infering you can't go stand toe to toe with mulitple AV's without being tweaked out...I agree. But there is no need to do that in either of those instances. You CAN fight the AV's in the RSF one at a time. You CAN fight Romulus without his little buddies helping him out. Does it take longer or better precision to do it...yes..but that doesn't mean it can't be done.
Also...The RSF is also argueably the hardest SF challenge in the game...I mean, heck, the thing had to be toned down because noone, not even the dev's, could beat it. They offered free subscriptions to anyone who could. Hmmmm...and you want to go in there willy nilly? -
Even if it was all "farms" like you said. Who is to say your story is more important than theirs? They have just as much right to use their story slots as they want as you do.
-
My point is similar to Rep's....If I am soloing, I tend to stop and smell the roses as it were. When I am teaming...it is far more important to keep the mob moving and happy not forcing some to wait so others can do a book report. If you want to read the story you can usually fall a bit behind in most arcs for a sec or two...but, in my opinion, it is more important for the group to be fed and moving than it is to sit around and read the dialog. When groups sit around for any reason other than the occasional...5 min smoke/sell/bio break they tend to disintegrate...
All of this is from the perspective of leading a PUG. If I am running a friend/sg team we are on completely different standards. -

Exchange rates will always fluctuate. I'm surprised nobody's brought up the issue of prestige farming, since you can generate vast amounts of prestige simply running an 8-man all-SG team.
[/ QUOTE ]
Because how much they have available to spend on their SG base has little to no effect on anyone outside that SG.
[/ QUOTE ]
Says you. My sg is currently number 8 on Freedom. We take great pride in this and take steps to maintain as well as strive to take 7. Just because it isn't important to you, doesn't mean it isn't important to us.
Farming for exp/inf/prestige/merits/tickets is all the same thing. That is all powergaming is. Determining your goal, using the most effective means available to achieve it.
And yes, I have, many times, run a 8 man SG team through an all boss mission. I try to do it once per day if I can.
