  1. *tries to control himself*

SingStar, it may not mean much to you, but Rockjaw is one of the most decent, stand-up good guys I've ever met. He is a decent human being, and he clearly enjoyed his job. I am saddened that these cutbacks have resulted in him losing it. I have every sympathy for everyone at NCE who has been made redundant, and it is NEVER a good thing for the people involved when something like this happens.

It would be pleasant if you could show a little sympathy for some people that some of us have met and actually like, or, in my firm, personal opinion you should refrain from posting at a time like this.
  2. To allay as much fear as we can: The ONLY confirmed redundancy from the Rednames we know and love is Rockjaw. Wait for an official announcement before making assumptions regarding other cutbacks - we don't need more doom and gloom than we currently get.

Like FFM said, we need an official announcement.

    Just noticed this at Massively.com,

    You alright there guys?

Check out the twitter feed on Rockjaw's Blog.

I think ths answer is 'no'.
  4. Shadowe recently clocked 3000 hours - probably up to 3012 or something like that, by now. Plenty more to come.
  5. Just going to point something out. It's on the Easter weekend, including the Friday and the Monday both of which are bank holidays. Further, that weekend always falls during the Easter term break for schools, colleges & universities.
  6. I'm going to answer the questions regarding "why the heck are NC starting a marketing campaign?" with a question of my own. (I know they were a few pages back, but this is something I've considered a little bit this evening).

Why would any company run a marketing campaign for an existing product?

I have some answers, but I'm interested in other people's thoughts - but here's a little question to get you pondering: When was the last marketing campaign for CoX?
  7. Hadpy birpthay, Birdy.

Gief cake nao, plx. (preferably without violating the international treaties on shipment of weaponry)
  8. The new My Little Pony MMORPG, coming to Paragon City, soon.
  9. My Wishlist regarding Dev contact, by Shad

I wish the devs spoke to us more
    It really would be great
But sometimes things just don't work out
I think that might be fate.

When BaB droped by he didn't like
    The moaning that he saw
And now he might not e'er come back
    Afraid he'll get some more

We really wish the devs would see
We're not that bad, all told
If they would pop up now and then
They'd be welcome in our fold

So BaB and Jay, Castle, too
    War Witch and Positron
Give us in Europe a little love
You know you want to, come on.
  10. They want to make the next announcement BIG.

Personally I can't see what they can do that's bigger than they already have, but I'm willing to be wrong!

I expect they'll time it to coincide with something that makes sense to the marketing gurus. What the heck that might be I have no idea.
  11. you can do this by putting ; in to replace your /.

    ;dance
    ;atease
    ;praise

    etc...

And still too many slots compared to useful powers

    [/ QUOTE ]

    /me chokes.

Sorry, TOO MANY SLOTS? You have managed to create a toon with a seamless attack-chain, every bell and whistle you want, including APPs, and you have too many slots?

    Wow.

Do you have a L50 triform Kheldian?
  13. He has a right to inject his own personality into his posts. As I recall, it actually went over quite well in the US. And I, personally, can look past the tone of his posts to the message that he is actually giving, and I appreciate him taking the time and trouble to do so.

The fact that some of us may not appreciate, may dislike, and may despise his individualism does not detract from the fact that many of us have been practically begging for the devs to post here, and when they do a few of us rip into them because of a visceral reaction to things they have said that we either did not take the time to consider or simply misunderstood.

So, here's my advice: The next time BaB posts something here that anyone doesn't like because of the way it's phrased, click the "Notify Moderator" button instead of ripping into him.
  14. It was something else, BM. After he DID get a proper Redname account.

I can't remember the details, but there were a few people here who were, frankly, a bit idiotic in their response.
  15. Thanks for the candour GR.

The situation is unfortunately a shame, since I know a lot of us would like more direct interaction with the Devs, but no one expects them to feel comfortable posting here if they expect to be lambasted for it.

Though honesty compels me to note that if they were to post here more frequently, there is less likely to be a negative slant on our opinions of them, as it would give us more opportunity to get to know their posting styles, rather than being the faceless entities that they are right now to many of us (except the few here who spend some of their time on the US forums, too).

I would hate for there to exist a spiral of dislike between us and the Devs, with us moaning that they never interact directly with us, and them feeling that they dare not do so because they expect to be torn to shreds.

To take a case in point: War Witch has met a fair number of our frequent flie... erm... posters, and seemed to think we were nice enough people (and SHE is an absolute angel). That is the reception I think most of the devs would get if they posted here - not the slating that has, unfortunately previously happened as a result of what appears to be some level of misunderstanding.

I'd say that it would be worth us, the EU players, attempting to open a dialogue with the devs. Is there any way that we can do that, GR?
  16. I'll mention this again, because I'm getting REALLY frustrated with people continuing to reference it.

The PhysX option for CoX is currently only for those users who have an Ageia PhysX card to supplement their normal graphics cards. It is for a separate piece of hardware. The PhysX technology built into current graphics cards is NOT the same, and is NOT supported by the PhysX option in CoX. If you do not have an Ageia PhysX card you will NOT be able to enable the PhysX options in CoX, and this is WAI.

The situation may change as CoX's engine is upgraded to account for newer graphics cards, but right now, I'll say it again: If you do not have an Ageia PhysX card supplementing your normal graphics card(s) then in CoX the PhysX option will remain greyed out. This is not a fault. It is Working As Intended.

    NEED HELP PLEASE

Okay, and the option to set it to your desktop screen resolution is there?

You select the 1440x900 (desktop) option, click "Apply changes", close the option window, log out, log back in, and it's reset to 800x600?

Are you running windowed, or in full-screen mode?
  21. It's been 'shouted' to the top of every section of the forums (not sure if this is intentional, since the original is all in French with no localisation).

I expect we'll get an 'official' notification from GR at some point in the near future (once the panic has died down).

I do think that it might be worth an in-game GMOTD to let people know about this, and to highlight point 3.
  22. Shadowe

    HOW LONG?!?!?!

Ah, Z, you're a special case, who can answer this question with a nicely summarised "More than anyone else, so NYEH!"
  23. Further translation...

    Avatea's post last nigh reads

Certain malicious players recently tried to pass themselves off as GMs/representatives of NCsoft. Our true GMs found them very easily and they were sanctioned for these actions.

Some facts will help you to recognize a true GM/representative of NCsoft:

1- A true GM will never require your logon details or password from you. If somebody asks for these details, be wary of them!

2- A true GM is recognizable with their name preceded by “GM_”. For example GM_Name. No player can use prefix “GM_”!

3- A true GM is recognizable with the colour of their private messages. These messages will be posted in blue instead of the usual yellow colour.

4- A true GM will warn you by email, in answer to your petition before any intervention is carried out and thereafter when the intervention takes place.

If you have suspicions concerning anyone who may be trying pass themselves off as NCSoft staff, do not hesitate to let us know the details of who it is it is by using the /petition command in game, or raising one through the Support centre (can be linked to from Ghostraptor's signature).

    HOW LONG?!?!?!

Well, I was clicking NPCs earlier (you know, for fun), and came across an interesting factoid (gleaned from clicking on an Pedestrian whose name begins with the letter M, if you don't already know the trick), which is that my main RP toon has been logged in-game for 3,000 hours. THREE THOUSAND HOURS. That's 125 solid days.

So, my question is: How long have you logged your main RP toon for?
