This is relevant to my interests.
I think I'll do *something* with Dual Pistols, as I haven't had a chance to play that powerset much yet. Probably a Blaster, mayyyybe a Defender.
If you need to contact me in game, my global is @Slid Silver. -
Does Stamina work in forms now that they've buffed Khelds?
-
Taking a second look at all the Warshade powers, I'm contemplating trying out a dual-form build over a Tri-form one.
Is it worthwhile to do a Warshade without a Nova form? -
Quote:So, if you have Orbiting up and then you use Mire, the next few "ticks" of Orbiting damage will be increased?Yes, Orbiting is a toggle that will stay on, so long as you do not switch out of human. And yes, it's damage will be buffed by either human or dwarf mire.
Quote:Dwarf's single attacks and Mire needs some slots - just enough to make them effective. When you get into the 40's and have a lot more slots, you can spend time getting them built up more. Mire when slotted well can crank out some damage.
Quote:Eclipse - take immediately. Mine's slottedd 2 Acc/Rech 2 Res/Rech, but you might need another slot or two without any IO bonuses. Use it, love it. It will cap your resistance and stay even when you switch forms. Resistance-capped Nova is sweet.
Quote:Hasten is really nice, since Eclipse, Mire, Pets, Quasar are all clicks on timers. And hasten's buff carries over to the forms to help the attack chains there. Also, Super Speed + Shadow Cloak = Stealth, which is nice for landing an Eclipse or just stealthing when needed. (Since we also get a free TP Ally power)
Quote:If you need build help, there's several threads on the 1/2/3rd pages of this kheld section that have good tri-form builds, try checking those out and see what you think.
What date did they buff the Khelds? -
Alright, I've got a level 39 Warshade which I'm gonna take out of retirement and see what he can do. Since I last played him, I've heard that they've buffed Kheldians a lot, and nerfed the Quantum enemies (which is part of the reason I retired the guy in the first place - I hated those things).
I don't remember anything about how to play him, and I'm not sure what builds are effective with the new buffs.
I've been looking through various Kheldian guides on the forums here, but almost all of them seem to be outdated, using old information.
Can anyone help me out in respeccing my WS, and giving me a few tips on how to play him? I'd like to go Triform if that's still a viable option.
EDIT: One specific question which popped into my mind was about Orbiting Death. First of all, is its damage affected by Mire?
Secondly, if it is, do you have to turn on Orbiting Death *after* you use the Mire power, or can you just leave Orbiting Death toggled on, and its damage will increase once you use Mire? -

Quote:I have a Dark/Fire scrapper which is an absolute BLAST to play. You're not as resilient as some other combos, but you can absolutely DESTROY enemies with your tons of damage, your two endurance-leeching powers, two self heals, two personal +damage buffs, tons of AoE damage, etc.Greetings, most powerful and ancient forum posters!
I have just started playing the game and made a scrapper.
Dark melee and Fire aura is what i chose for my first toon.
While reading through several guides/Faqs/forum posts etcetc. I noticed an utter lack of info on my chosen combo.
Not that im really interested in min-maxing everything and squeezing the highest damage numbers possible out of my character, I AM interested in a general smoothness of play.
I'd hate to find out in the latter levels that i really messed up on choice of powers to begin with, forcing me to reroll to another toon.
In short, can anyone of you forum alumni shed some light on the Dark melee / fire aura combo?
Many thanks,
Rao the almost Magnificent
Very fun combination to play. -
Thanks for the advice! This is extremely helpful to me, and I think I'm getting a better understanding of DA's mechanics by working through all this as well.
Quote:How does your way of slotting/playing Dark Armor differ from other methods, and what are its pros and cons? Thanks for posting the build. Understand that everything I'm posting here is simply my opinion. I have a particular way I like to play and slot Dark Armor. They are not the only way to achieve a really good/fun build.
Quote:Hover can serve as a psuedo-KB protection power, but the resulting back flip will still slow you down.
Quote:Also keep in mind that while Hasten helps bring Conserve Power and Dark Regeneration up more quickly, the mild end crash also contributes to your endurance management challenges.

I think I did that right. >_> It might not be the exact levels I took each power, but all the slots are in the right places at least. -

Quote:Why is it specifically that fly would present more challenges?
On an IO build, this won't be a problem. On a generic IO/SO build it will present additional challenges but can be overcome.
Quote:Ditto on this. Just not sure if the OP is in a position to purchase expensive IOs such as the ToE PROC. The build can be managed with out it, though it's REALLY nice to have.
Quote:Did you ding 50 and think the high end issues was normal out of a certain level of ignorance since it was your first character? -
Alright. My first character I ever got to level 50 is a DB/DA scrapper, and so far, I've been thoroughly disappointed by his power level. My 50 Dark/Shield scrapper destroys him in both survivability and in damage, and my 50 Energy/Energy blaster is also much more powerful. However, I still love the DB/DA character, though I'm reluctant to play him much because of how much weaker he is than my other two 50s.
Most of my issues come from his massive endurance problems. I often find myself completely without endurance moments after a battle begins, with no real way of recovering it other than carrying a tray full of blues (which is a very short-term solution).
I'm still very much new to the game, and I'd greatly appreciate some advice on how to improve the character. If someone could help me with a build, or even just give me some pointers on how to make an effective build of my own, that would be fantastic. My only requirement for the character is that he has to be able to fly. -
-
Quote:Wouldn't surprise me. I basically got him to 50 then quickly started on an Energy/Energy blaster and a Dark Melee/Shield Defense scrapper (who turned out to be the unstoppable GOD I've always dreamed of). Never was very good with the DB/DA.Sorry Dual Blades has great damage. You were doing something wrong if you were not doing great damage.
I've heard others say DB is a very weak powerset though - not sure who's correct on this. -
My first 50 was a Dual Blades/Dark Armor scrapper, which turned out to be a terrible failure of a character in terms of power... huge endurance issues to deal with and lackluster damage from his primary.
I'm considering starting another Dark Armor scrapper, because I enjoyed the powerset, but it's hideously inefficient endurance-wise. Other than Dark Melee, are there any scrapper primaries which are efficient enough to offset the incredible drain on my blue bar that is the four thousand toggles of Dark Armor? -
I am *totally* going to make a BS/Elec scrapper, as well as the same Elec/Shield scrapper that the rest of CoH is going to make. :P Double tele-nuke rocks.
-
I'm no expert at making 6 billion inf. builds or min/maxing, but I have a DM/FA that's insanely fun to play. He deals tremendous AoE damage and has ZERO endurance problems because he has both Consume and Dark Consumption. Not the most resilient of combinations, but he's fantastic in any team which has a tank.
-
Quote:Aah. I had thought it checked every 2 seconds (when the aura itself deals its own damage). Guess that makes it not a very useful strategy then.Procs check once per 10 seconds per activation per proc. This means that, in a toggle which is on at all times, it will check against every target in range of that aura (and this can be either the primary or secondary effect of the toggle, depending upon which effect the toggle is "riding" on)
once every 10 seconds. If you have 4 damage procs in it, once every 10 seconds, whenever the aura ticks, it will attempt to hit every enemy affected by the aura with every proc in the power. In general, you don't get much benefit of procs out of toggles simply because it's not checking that often.
Damn... thought I'd come up with something clever there.
Thanks for the reply! -
So, I was poking around Mids' the other night, thinking of ways to make my DB/DA scrapper not terrible, when I noticed that you could slot four different "Chance to deal (damagetype) damage" IOs in Death Shroud, and I was wondering how that would work. Every time it "ticks" and deals damage to enemies near me, does it roll once per enemy per IO? Or just once per IO to see if it hits the whole group?
Also, is this a viable, useful strategy to use? If I invested in the four "chance for damage" IOs and put them in a PBAoE damage aura, would it deal the insane amount of damage that I think it would?
Also, if it were on, say, a DM/DA character, would Soul Drain increase the damage that the "chance for damage" IOs dealt?
