Sam sounds like he's clinically depressed. Laughter's good for the soul, Sam. Laughter's good for the soul.

Quote:The Alpha and Omega?I was thinking about this and the CoV zone that popped into my mind to contrast Atlas Park was Grandville. Then I realized how interesting it is (story wise) that the center of the hero world is the beginning and the center of the villain world is the end. (Center is my attempt to describe a point of attention.)

Mongoose, I'm pretty sure, even mentions that you should head on to Port Oaks after you try to solicit him for more missions.

Missing the forest for the trees. That's all I have to say.

You're also forgetting you have to fight him twice.

Everyone likes different things, so to each their own. No one is the same. That said, I like traveling around a lot in this game, look at the scenery, admire how much work went into it. It's amazing what unexpected oddity you can run into in some of these zones by just turning off your travel power and running around.
This is probably why Nerva Archipelago is my favorite zone. There's just so much stuff! Toward the south, you have a couple islands covered in the usual Rogue Isle Latin slum, then as you travel further north, things keep getting more interesting. There's the Longbow invasion fort, and then Primeva covered with jungle and ancient Oranbegan ruins (and a wrecked pirate ship!), and at the very north you have Thorn Isle itself with all the glowing spirit lights, spooky trees, and floating rocks. Nerva is just fascinating, and I just don't understand the hate it gets.
"It's too f'n BIG! I like to go where I need to now now now."
That's missing the forest for the trees, really. Nerva's scenery is truly more varied than most of the other zones I've seen in this game. Nevertheless, every zone has its worthy sight-seeing quirks. I remember how awesome it was when I first saw the Lord Recluse speeches in Grandville for example. Used to watch the speech from beginning to end every chance I had.
Some zones do suffer from "cool at first then lame" syndrome, like... oh... Boomtown. At first the wreckage left over from alien invaders looks cool, but then it gets very ugly very quick. I don't like Boomtown. It's only worth finding certain enemy groups for various hunt missions at a certain level range. They really need to do something with that zone.
But y'know what? I like the content both villain and hero side, and can feel the distinct flavor difference between the two. It works. The old hero stuff could use a slight tune-up, like more Arachnos here and there and tighter arcs to bring some loose story together. But the travel doesn't bother me. It just gives me pretty scenery to look at while I go to some area. I like that.
Sam probably won't like the first AE arc I have planned to make. It's going to feature the Kill Skuls joke prominently with a comical plot around it. Can't say I understand a hate for comedy, as it's a good thing to smile and laugh every so often, but then... to each their own.
And yes... Kadabra Kill sucks. Most overpowered boss-level NPC ever. -
Clearly, that needs to be remedied. If the Fire and Rave sort of events scaled like the invasions did, that'd be all the more reason to keep doing them over and over.

Okay... yeah... I can see that now. Disgusting all the more so though that he appears to be naked in that thing.

Dr. Vahzilok as we all know is effectively Dr. Frankenstein gone even further off the deep end. Instead of making one grotesque animated monstrosity, he has a whole army of them and a bunch of likewise mentally bent doctors to look after them. The thing is though... how does Dr. Vahzilok perform surgery these days? He has replaced his delicate surgeon's hands with a big, huge arm cannon with a axe-like bayonet, and a big, clumsy, beefy hand on the other arm. The guy's effectively crippled his manual dexterity. The guy would likely crush a china cup if he tried drinking tea now. This man cannot do the things he used to be able to do with the crazy behemoth of flesh body he's given himself. Does he just supervise surgeries now and silently weep at how stupid he was to cut off his hands?

Quote:Can't say I'd think of demons being big stupid brutes anyhow. These are guys who tempt the souls of mortal men, after all.Ever do a villainside newspaper mission that says something like "Maizon calls villainname out", about how he called you out in a news conference? And it turns out that Maizon is a Behemoth? Well, if they can hold news conferences, why can't they read? They probably needed to learn to read the teleprompters, if nothing else.

Quote:And yet, here we are, with lots of folks having no issues. Of course, nobody makes a thread to say "hey, no troubles here, aces!" so we don't notice.
The trouble here is really that some folks don't understand that there isn't just two "ends" to talk about. There's the player's end, NCSoft's end, and then there is the entire mess of internets between the two. It's entirely possible that something between the player and the servers is crosscocked and making life miserable. This means that there isn't much that NCSoft or the player can do. It sucks, but that's how it is. Of course, that's not to say all is perfectly well; I'm getting the odd ten-second mapserver problem every few hours during this extremely busy time but certainly not the epic issues some folks report.
tl;dr: If a problem happens for some folks but not for others, all using the same service, that means that it's probably not entirely caused by a problem on the service provider's end.Quote:The problem is either at your end, or between you and their servers. I, and many other people, have been having ZERO problems.Quote:I've been fine in recent times, besides the odd crash when I'm not doing anything.
The problem's probably on your end.
So you're just going to say it's all magically on our side? I don't think so. -
Quote:Explain Champion, then. Why does everyone who uses Champion seem to be reporting these issues? HMMMMMMMMMMMMMMMMMM?I for one haven't had any problems that wasn't related to either my own equipment or my ISP for ages.
Once again, people, please consider that it may be your equipment, ISP, or somewhere inbetween that is the cause of the problem, instead of immediately assuming it is the servers.
I am not saying the servers don't have problems, but when only SOME people reports problems, then it is most likely NOT the servers, but somewhere along the line.
Just saying... -
Champion. Random bouts of "Disconnected to Mapserver."
-
Stop saying it's on this guys end. It's not. Take a look at the tech forum. There are multiple threads there about the mapserver problems. I know quite a few people in addition to myself who have been having problems with the Mapserver. The problem is on NCsoft's end.
-
Oh yeah... Champion's been terrible. Mapserver. Mapserver. Mapserver. I mean, wtf? You'd think after an emergency maintenance, something is suppose to work right.
-
A similar thing happened to me today as well. It was probably the same disconnect? The Mapserver has been behaving exceedingly wonky. And heck... I even had to teleport a friend out of a hole not long after. (Yes, a hole in the geography of Port Oakes. Be careful.)
-
"Cool" is subjective, thus what I think is cool may be lame to you and vice versa. Thus I'll let people take a peek at my sig and decide for themselves.
-
I mapserved a couple times today, but it was nowhere near as bad as it usually is whenever it decides to mapserv. So I consider that an improvement.

At the very least, I am pleased to be the only Scythus in existence. MUWAHAHAHAHAHA! This'll make my world domination plans a lot easier.

You have a problem with the Pacific Coast?
