Quote:Like Airhammer said, Defenders don't get Scourge, at all, for any power, at any time, ever.concerning our VS that doesn't scourge.... WHYyyyyyYYYYYyYYYyYYYYYYY?!
Also, i read that last word as if you were yodeling it like a Basset Hound. i hope that was the intended effect, because it made your post really amusing. -
Don't do that! My Traps/Dark is at 36 and is as fun as hades to play on teams and solo. Joined an ITF with him last night and it was funny to watch those primitive screwheads run into clouds of poison gas only to start choking and puking everywhere or pick fights with the Acid Mortars. Oh, and trip mines. Watching a whole crowd of men in skirts get flung in all directions is always funny. Oh, and i must admit that i skipped Triage Beacon and eventually took Life Drain. i have the Day Job Revive power, so i can still help teammates who are injured.
<back on topic>
My first Defender to get past the twenties, and the second to hit 50, was my FF/Rad. Teaming was fine, but i found soloing to be horribly slow and tedious. With all the changes since 2004 it's possible that it would be a different experience now. -
Quote:By that i'm guessing you mean 'typed as AoE', and not 'able to hit more than one target'. Otherwise the number would appear to be the same, but Claws' AoE's are up more often and hit a bit harder.Irony of a sort that my DM/SR brute, a set known for being single target oriented, actually has more AoE attacks than my Claws.
Claws - Dark Melee
Eviscerate - Shadow Maul (melee cone)
Spin - Dark Consumption, Soul Drain (PBAoE)
Shockwave (ranged cone)
...
i have to wonder if this thread was created mostly to settle a bet. Generally speaking powers that debuff defense aren't really needed as much for their -def by the time the highest valued -def effects could be fully enhanced. At that point there's only a few outliers where large amounts of -def are needed by an effectively slotted player or team. If the target has the levels of defense that you need that amount of -def, then it's really the autohit -def powers that are the rational choice, even if there are higher-valued -def powers that also require a tohit roll.

Quote:That word, i do not think it means what you think it means.Purples I used in pairs of three, opening with two medium ones and a small one, and following that with two small ones and a medium one.
All that aside, nice summary of tactics for taking on Nosferatu. -
Quote:This is even more true for me with the new sidekicking/exemplar system. It took years, but my alts who exemplar down now actually feel more powerful than characters who are natively the exemplar level. Also, by giving access to powers 5 levels above the exemplared level it makes content in the 30's much more appealing for my 50's. By the mid-30's my alts generally have all their core concept powers, so exemplaring down to that range is now a minor reduction in power.Nope, actually I intended it to be read as written. There are almost certainly far more players with level 35s than level 50s, and they deserve more content just like the people who've hit the level cap deserve more content. Level 50 is only *slightly* more special than level 35 because it *is* the cap, but otherwise CoX doesn't accord a special significance to level 50.
My 50's continue to develop in power and concept regardless of the level cap. As i continue playing them i come up with new tactics, slotting, power and costume concepts. Although i usually don't build around using any purples at all, regular IO set bonuses can greatly change how an alt plays. -
Quote:Depends on the puzzle designer. The Latin Student at the blueside Midnighter club entrance is like a very simple, static implementation of this idea. As is one of Darrin Wade's missions.I think you missed the rest of the post;
Not completely trial-and-error random, but random with clues given. How hard you'd have to look for the clues, I couldn't say.
That reminds me of one of the mission briefings you can get where the contact's text, the arc clues and the actual mission door location given for the mission all state different places for where you need to go next. Fortunately only the mission door location in your mission listing means anything. -
Quote:There is a big difference between the Faultline revamp and the Hollows revamp in terms of what was done to the zones. When the Devs refer to revamping a zone being as much work as creating a new one, do they mean more the sort of revamp Faultline received, which changed a lot of the zone geometry, added a contact/story arc chain and expanded its size, or do they also mean the Hollows revamp, which mostly altered mob spawning behaviors and added some additional NPC resources/contacts?I think this is one of those times when the devs and the players use the same word to mean different things. When the devs hear "revamp" they think "delete the entire zone and build an entirely new zone from scratch, keeping nothing but the name." When the players use the word revamp, I think most of us mean something more like "add new missions to a zone so we have something fun to do when we go there."
I know I'd be thrilled if they dropped a few contacts into Dark Astoria with Faultline style missions arcs, capped off by a nice task force. Maybe they could squeeze in a field hospital and a contact who gives repeating random missions, like they did with the Hollows mini-vamp.
On the other hand, it would be entertaining if they skipped the hospital and put in a zone-wide prison, like the prisons in certain CoT and Council missions. If you die anywhere in the zone or in any mission in the zone and hit the hospital button, then you wake up in the middle of a BP ritual with a shaman ready to steal your soul. -
Maybe the one mission was removed due to redundancy? The one that's still up has the player buffing hostages and self-rezzing enemies just like the removed mission apparently did.

Quote:i had a TA/Psi back around issue 12 or so that was conceived as a psychic superspy that used gadgets to augment her psychic powers. Ended up deleting her since TA was annoyingly slow soloing in the lower levels. i may recreate her as a Traps/Psi. Traps/Anything solos easier than TA/Anything with my playstyle.I named my Traps/Psi "Cerebral Engineer" he's a part of the Technocracy faction of mages

Quote:So far it's been stated that one of the powers in the set changes the ammo type, which is not at all like alternate animations. Still, that's no reason not to set up a different costume for each ammo type, it's just not required. That's if it's set up like alternate animations, instead of "choose what Dual Pistol Set you want".

Just checked and 330552 is now gone, but 322958 is still available.

Quote:Last i remember the built-in updater wasn't working since Mids' switched maintainers. Unless the newest version directs it to the new site?Same version I'm using. The program icon says it was created 09/15/09 and when the program opens, the title bar of the windows says "v1.6(Database Issue: 16 - Updated 11/09/09)". I tried updating and there aren't any available, and I tried closing and reopening the program and switching power sets back and forth and it's still there. The only thing I haven't tried is re-install.
Did you check to make sure it wasn't displaying the PvP values? -

i put the proc in Poison Gas Arrow on my Earth/TA just so i could honestly say that i have a healing arrow.

Quote:Nor do i.you have a bad version. i don't see psi def in any of the sr powers in any tab.
i'm using program version 1.601, database version 1.69204, Game Issue 16 of Mids'.
Maybe the error is in a more recent update/version? i haven't updated mine in a while. -
i can think of several ways to explain it. A pretty good combo even if Psi's secondary effects don't synergize quite as well with Traps as some of the other secondaries. Inflicting -recharge on enemies is always nice.

Quote:Good idea. Wish i'd thought of it.Wait, Fluffy has a fear power now?
On my most recent Fluffy user i 6-slotted Clouded Senses. i like the set bonuses and Fluffy's tohit debuff is mostly what i use the little smog cloud for anyway. -
Super Reflexes is all positional defenses, not typed defenses at all, so Mids' should not show any sort of psi defense from Focused Senses. Going to check it now since i've never seen that before.
-
Then go. Now. And watch the rest of her videos. You will not regret it.

Very, very cool. Thanks for putting this out for everyone, Orion.

Most of my blueside alts take CoT missions preferentially, especially in the lower levels, since their salvage drops still tend to sell for more. Then again my lowbies have gotten good at kiting the Spectrals and i usually take the Ghost Slaying Axe as one of my vet attacks. Even my melees kite the Daemon Lords at the lower levels when they've Chill of the Night running. i back off, use staff/wand attack(s), then jump in to try and hit with the Axe before being affected by the debuff, repeat.
Most of the other enemy groups just aren't as interesting in the early levels anyway, and getting the layer cake cave just means more sacks of hit points to collect xp from.
