Quote:Only for Mystic Fortune. Not so much things like Speed Boost, Thermal Shields, Force Fields, Fortitude, etcetera, etcetera...You are already getting explicit asking in form of accept/decline dialog.
That said, i generally welcome drive-by buffs, and tend to dispense them on my buffers when i run into characters fighting street mobs, outside of mission doors and other places where it seems likely the buffs would be helpful. Not so much when they're standing around somewhere chatting or otherwise not about to engage in combat like Atlas Park, Pocket D and the various markets.
Edit: Like dj13 said:Quote:You are the first person I've ever heard complain. Somehow I doubt it will make a TON of enemies. I've never been upset to have someone hit me with auras during a tight fight or bubble me.
As a new player I was a little in awe of these superheroes who flew over me in a fight and blessed me with more energy regen or made me hit harder for a minute or two. I always said when I got there I'd pay it forward. Any time I am in Atlas I make a point of doing a swing around and finding someone in over their head and giving them a nice boost. I usually see a TY in broadcast not long after.
Your mileage may vary, but I think you are in the minority. -

Quote:Political decision. Praetoria is at war with Paragon, Praetoria has always been at war with Paragon.Except that it has been stated that if you join the Resistance you get to go to Paragon City and if you join the Loyalists you get to go to the Etoile Isles.
Etoile Islands on the other hand... Recluse has shown many times in that past that he's willing to make non-aggression pacts with other powers that are not in direct competition with his authority. The Rikti, for example.
Logically the 'heroes' of Paragon will support and even give aid to the Resistance in their attempt to overthrow the Praetorian leadership that they are at war with, whereas Recluse has no problem making a mutually beneficial agreement with Tyrant and even allowing travel between the two countries. -

Quote:Apparently i know a lot of liars. Or competent players. Whichever.i wouldnt believe anyone who said they soloed a TF! dont think its possible, never seen it done! anyone who says they did it would be very suspect. and i would probably call them a liar!
At least you know what's what.
Quote:Yeah yeah yeah, we all know. Forum Cartel peed in your breakfast cereal and beat up your mom.
Most TF's aren't easily soloable, but a few are. Actually, i've been considering giving Synapse a try solo except for some pets. i figure that if i go against the Clockwork King with a Shivan, Snow Beast and HVAS he won't last too long.i could try taking him on without all that, but i like to get AV battles over with fairly quickly. When they start dragging on it gets annoying.

All this talk about little ole meh?
Well first Id like to thank all the people out there that are nothing more thena bunch of....
Ooooo you almost had meh there
I saw Ocho standing over there in the corner ready with a 50lb mod smack
Cheers everyone!!
P.S. Wanna join an sg? ROFL
(And that's why most true leaders have an entire staff of secretaries snd publicists: they're too busy being iconic and leaderish to bother with irrelevancies like manners, edumacation and thinkinating. All true leaders in CoX are like that as well, but without the budget for the secretaries and publicists.) -
Quote:Go down four forums in the list.
Not sure where 'Suggestions' moved to in this new look, over categorised mess of a forum, but I'd like to make one.
Designing, in an in-game editor, the name as it appears over your character's head.
Perhaps a few colours or 'Generic Hero 1' in italics, remember those? Ideally we'd be able to skew the perspective to add a little more 'Sup' to the Super.
The name "Suggestions and Ideas" is suggestive, no?
Evocative at the least.
Customizing name fonts and styles is not a bad idea in my opinion, but it is presented rather badly by the OP. -
For me people with names like that can either send a tell or remain uninvited.

Quote:Ooh, nice pairing. A cryomancer then?Well, I'm running a Defender with Storm and Ice Blast. Thanks everyone!
i have several mage types, and i usually make them Controllers or Defenders, but a couple of my Dominators and Masterminds also use the spellcaster concept. -

War Witch: Dead and Loving It
War Witch is fine dead. In fact, like several CoH characters, she's accomplished as much or more dead than she did when alive.
i do like the idea of the Apex TF. -

Quote:Also, if the character bore a close resemblance to the iconic Barbie Doll, and/or made reference to her in the description, that could get you hit with the generic stick as well.I had a stone tank named Stoner Barbie and she was Genericed in a day... and she was a Stone... the reference was to that fact...
Generally it's a judgment call by the GM if a report is made, and if you feel it was unfair you can appeal it and possibly get the decision reversed. i've known of several who had their names restored after a review.
Generally the GM's are not sympathetic to names that are considered references to real world illegal drugs, the type players might actually be able to use, but if you can explain that there are equally obvious non-drug meanings to the name it's possible to retain the name.
i constantly see people with names that are blatant references to marijuana and stoner culture if you are familiar with the sources. While i don't find marijuana very interesting, i know a lot of people who do. Amusingly enough, some of the dumbest, tritest and most pointless names i see for characters are the marijuana reference names. i actually prefer the names be left and never report them myself. It makes for an easier warning flag than player notes as to whether the player will be competent or interesting when teamed. (No, i don't think all marijuana users are dumb or incompetent, or i wouldn't be acquainted with so many of them, but it does tend to amplify those traits in those who are slow and dull already. Stoner names are an alert of sorts (that the name user might not be), not an automatic reason to avoid.)

Quote:Our Hami just kinda sits in the hive and doesnt do anything unless you get to close and doesn't leave the zone ever, no threat really. The thing is fairly peaceful and only attacks things that get close so why bother.
It would seem pretoria Hami had a thrist for world domination. It had to be dealt with.Quote:Why accept it's existance when his minions are still kidnapping and converting innocent people into Devoured? Destroy Hami and the rest of the puppets fall soon their after. -
Quote:And the beat goes on.
Although props for the new changes and what not.
I also don't buy the OP stating there has been no new info cuz they have been so busy. Rubbish. Keeping the players in the dark the way they have is tantamount to to a slap in the face. Sad.
I do like a change in lead development. I still remember last year (maybe in May?) how they promised the next few issues would be huge and there are huge things coming this year. Well, the issues have not been huge and GR might be that huge add we've needed. The only positive I take from this is a new lead dev. I have been around for i12, 13, 14, 15 and 16 - the only ones that were decent: 12 and 14. 13 was almost a complete joke and 15 wasn't really an issue. Apparently 17 is supposed to be light too and should be out 'soon' or before GR so who really knows.
War Witch, PLEASE inject this game with items that make it fresh and exciting. I hope your version of content isn't doing the same missions, with the same minions, same maps but with different text. This game is too repetitive and it wears on me. I pray the dev team never uses any of the existing maps in a mission ever again. Make up a new group and slowly add to them. Go back and fix the old TF's - they are not fun to play at all (esepcially Synapse and Posi). Add some new mechanics and stop adding items that are like what we have. I beg you!
Quote:Wow, I am so glad you have posted such a useful post! It's awesome! Good work!
Oh, and why would you say i17 being light and before GR is not true?! I am pretty sure they noted that at Hero Con but could be wrong. Either way, not a big deal. I am on a break from the game and hoping GR brings me back. That is my make or break point for the game so my hopes are high
Oh, I also hope you learn how to make a constructive post as opposed to just pick on what others post. -
Quote:i would watch more, but i'm monitoring the internets. Funny, i'm monitoring The Television as well. On the internets. Hmmmm...This is the first time you really have a chance to sit down and watch some TV. Fortunately, there's an easy channel guide to show what's on. You make your first choice and change channels, but it doesn't take you to the show you chose. Still, you get the feeling that you should watch what's on anyway.
Also, welcome. We have such sights for you to show us. -
Quote:That's questionable. Why are we questioning questions anyway? Or at least why are we questioning these particular questions? That is the question(s).No, no. See, it's unquestioned questions. Questions that no one has questioned yet, not questions that haven't been asked. See the difference?
(Damnit, why am i still reading the forums at work? There are far better amenities, heating and food at home...) -
Quote:Yeah, as much as i generally respect Arcanaville (which is quite a lot, actually), i have to side with Samuel_Tow on this one. Mostly because he posted exactly what i was thinking when i read her post, but did it before i got around to reading it and logging into the forums. No overlap with City of Heroes, huh? As in, you didn't require the exact same client with the exact same game? And didn't overlap completely in PvP zones? City of Villains was called an "expansionalone" by the very developers making it for a reason. It was an expansion masquerading as a standalone. It was an expansion to City of Heroes in the same way that Opposing Force was an expansion to Half-Life. It was an addon to the same base game using the same base software that gave you an extra full-length campaign. It was not "another game" in pretty much any sense of the word that isn't purely technical. And that's the thing - City of Villains is a standalone in technicalities only. In actual practice, it is an expansion, and as we both know, the developers finally admitted that at around the time of the NC buyout.

Quote:It's still news that directly relates to what's going on in the Development team, and thus Going Rogue. Obviously it's not what you wanted, but it did come with a promise of more details soon, and in a context that implies a more immediate, shorter-term soon than the bog standard soon.Cryptic is also working on end game content.
Wow is also working on end game content.
Lotro is also working on end game content.
Aoc is also working on end game content.
This announcement while interesting to our game was dont have any actual end game stuff, is like throwing alcohal on an already existing fire.
End game stuff... that he said he cant actually say anything about.. other than it is fun?!
Ok, well lets move on to some other something like maybe the new zones that are coming, with content in them. Something? Something new? Something we can chomp on for a few days befor we become the ravonous individuals we actually are. -

Quote:Well, announcing that Matt has stepped down (sideways?) from lead developer to focus on designing the End Game content seems like actual new information. Admittedly it wasn't details about the animation times for Dual Pistols' Flaming Doves of Love tier nine attack, but i consider it significant information despite not being very detailed.People got promoted... Congrats.
But there was no new actual information
Melissa's work has always impressed me. Although i do hope that this promotion will not prevent her from having the time to add her rather distinctive (and very entertaining) touch to the new content.
