*heh* i just got the boss to finally install that after he realized he'd lose Windows Mail when he upgraded to 7. He'd been putting off the upgrade for a while because it was inconvenient to set up a new mail client. i'm not a huge fan of Windows or Microsoft, but 7 is a definite improvement over Vista, and every time there's a problem i'm expected to fix it, so i generally encourage the lesser evil. Every iteration of Windows introduces new ways to obfuscate or bury important setting menus, but that's one of the uses of Google.
Thunderbird is pretty nice and the price is right.

A lot more reasonable than 17.5 million.
Unfortunately it's very unlikely that whoever got the inf even reads the forums.

Very nice. i might drop by in that case. i've been considering trekking up to Boston recently anyway. i haven't been clubbing there in years.

Well crap. Ceremony is Mondays. Not sure what's currently going on Saturdays in Boston, will have to check.
  6. Like Grouchybeast said, you have to go under the knife to change gender and height, so talk to the one with surgeon in the name.
  7. As others have pointed out there is no real disparity. Well, except for one redside AT inherently being able to routinely refill the endurance bar in an instant. Something no blueside AT can do.

If so, you can pick up an external hard drive, go grab dinner, see a movie, and still have some change left over. Then you can back up your documents, your COH folder (realizing, of course, that even if you DID have to reinstall, the only stuff you'd lose would be local - say, screenshots, saved costumes, etc. and not your characters or progress,) and when Win7 is done installing, you can use its (far nicer) backup program to back IT up as well.

Though, personally, I tend to go for a clean install over an in-place upgrade anyway. Far less trouble and generally better results (plus some needed housecleaning.)
This is what i usually do. i copy over all program and data files and installers that i want to the backup drive. Then i usually wipe the hard drive clean and install from scratch. Eliminates a lot of cruft and programs i didn't really need or use. It can also mean most of a day doing nothing but working on the PC. That and assorted house cleaning during some of the install processes, but organizing, winnowing and copying over files before the reinstall can take a lot of time. Don't forget to locate and copy the browser bookmarks/favorites/preference setting files. i lost those once a while back because i hadn't remembered that in many cases they're no longer stored in the browser's directory.

*huh* i play both sides depending on whim, and i feel both have good points and not so good points in terms of stories, mechanics, balance and theme. Thematically i tend to like blueside more since i don't find much appeal in either selfishness or baby-eating, which redside is more overt about. (i say overt because y'all don't want to know what the leaders of the core SGs in Paragon City serve at the buffet when they have their secret meetings.) In terms of gameplay and story structure i think redside has some advantages. i think my biggest complaint is that redside emphasizes working your into the good graces of the big bads for progression too much. The addition of a more mercenary starting contact was a good start, but from there i'd say there should've been more of a parallel track for characters who are more antiheroes fighting against a corrupt and oppressive regime rather than toadying their way into power, which is a recurring theme. You can play characters that way, but it takes a fair bit more effort to do.

So while i agree that more people should play redside i can see why it won't appeal to a lot of players thematically. i hope Going Rogue's Praetoria adds elements to increase the appeal of the Etoile Islands, though a more explicitly antihero themed storyline would help IMO.

As long as its 64 bit Windows 7 it shouldn't be a problem. Windows 7 is closer to a Vista service pack than a different operating system. It adds a number of much needed improvements and tweaks, but essentially is the same operating system as Vista. Of course you should follow Westey's advice and back everything up first anyway.

(It's "Dual Pistols", by the way. "Duel" has a completely different meaning.)
Dual=composed or consisting of two people, items, parts, etc., together; twofold; double: dual ownership; dual controls on a plane.

Duel=A prearranged, formal combat between two persons, usually fought to settle a point of honor.

Edit: So a duel can be fought with dual dueling pistols at dawn, high noon or any mutually agreed time. Many American Western/Cowbots & Indians movies feature duels with dual pistols. However, challenging someone to a DP duel could have a completely different meaning and be the basis for an adult movie series.

i'd say Batman would be Martial Arts/Ninjutsu. Very little of his use of gadgets is in combat and those tend to be similar to existing Ninjutsu tricks. Most of the other use of gadgets would basically fit into the area of RPing the character and temp powers.

Batman many times takes down the first thug in a group from the shadows and then proceeds to swiftly and somewhat brutally eliminate the others as they panic. Of course it does vary depending on who is writing his stories.

Weird. All the respec trials i've done recently only gave me the option of a respec or merits. (Just merits if i already had all the respecs.) i can't recall one giving me the roll option since around the time merits were implemented.

On topic: i agree with those who've stated that more than one character having the same first name is a non issue. Despite the fact that in the real world two people never have the same first name. It's a comic book world, try to suspend your disbelief a bit. They don't have the High Overlord of Names to extirpate any who take on similar names like we do in the real world.

It's not so hard to believe that in the world of Paragon City those same veteran bikers would choose to fight crime.
Did you remember to include the American Legion Riders?

    ...

i'm also of the school that powers are not inherently evil, it's how you use them that makes the difference. An Empath boosting a deranged psychotic into a nigh-unstoppable killing machine and encouraging them to go on a murderous rampage is far more evil than a Poison user that stops a suicide bomber from being able to detonate.

The Devs have of course officially disagreed with that position in the past, so i'm interested in seeing what happens going forward.

Well it's been a very long time since i got a Sting of the Manticore recipe when rolling on my level 30 alts, so i'd say that recipe drops are definitely more in line with power availability. With the number of recipes and set types out there that still gives a good chance of receiving a recipe that you don't especially want or need, but it's better than it was.

Bear in mind that most enemies have longer range than anything short of a sniper attack.

Pretty sure there are already several threads in the Controller forums about soloing AVs. While Fire/Kin and ill/Rad are more common than Fire/Rad the same basic approach to each primary and secondary should apply. Not having soloed AVs with any of those combos i can't really add more than what would already be covered in the Controller forums.

Well yes, but it doesn't go into any of the under the hood aspects. Nor is there an easy to find guide to game systems and their interactions.

For example, out of cast time, animation time, and arcanatime, only arcanatime has an entry or any sort of direct reference. In fact most technical aspects and terminology related to how the game systems work have no references in Paragonwiki.

i guess that means that Paragonwiki would be just the place to compile such a guide/reference list if i feel motivation enough to start doing so.

Ooooh, the Devs could create a separate server just for open world PvP. Call it Doomageddon or something. Free transfers onto it, but paid to get off it.

Edit: what's that last censored word in you post anyway? Sodomy? Not having much luck coming up words implying a method of escape that would be censored that don't involve squick.
