Quote:You are coming across as a bit unreasonable, however. You are aware that Shields in conjunction with Martial Arts and Superstrength already do this, and that for many months until the most recent patch the custom animations were broken? i think the implications regarding how simple it all is should be apparent, but maybe that's because i have too many friends who are programmers and enjoy sharing their horror stories about past projects with me.Oldeb,
I'm not trying to be unreasonable about it. And I am trying to do exactly what you are saying mix three different new things the Dev's have put in the game: Alternate Weapons, Alternate Animations, and Power Customization.
Quote:My hope is that by doing those three things, the Devs have changed something that was "impossible" because it would take so much work to: "well actually, we have done this, and that, and that, and Talionis is right now that I think about it, we could put those three things together to make a new powerset look, animation, whatever, we can give them crossbows and its not that hard."
Quote:I could be wrong. I am mostly likely wrong. It really depends on how the code was written and how its been changed. My profession is not coding. But on the off chance what I'm saying really does make sense and the three things can be put together to give a good crossbow attack with little actual work, I think its a great idea.
Quote:If its going to take a lot more time than just cut and paste and clean. Then I wouldn't suggest worrying over it either. -- I still want the crossbows. But I'd rather have newer stuff.
Quote:But I think the best suggestion to come from this thread would be to re-examine now that all these changes have been made, what can be put into the game more quickly and easily.
Quote:Does it make Power Set Proliferation easier? Maybe this will jog a Dev to think of ways to make new stuff in a simplier way.
Offhand, i think Ming is getting tired of how you're making him look by dragging him into this with all your assuming. (You should know what happens when you go around assuming. And you've been assuming pretty hard so far.) -
Quote:(?)Look I'm all for everyone having access to everything. But as rare as some recipes are or pvp drops why the hell are you giving away epics.
i did it because i was bored and felt like giving the Devs a task that would cause a fairly small group to flip out. At first i was going to order the Devs to make Epic Archetypes unlockable using an uncommon recipe, but it turned out it was quicker and easier to just change the level. Besides, there's lots of good players who have been playing for years who never pushed an alt all the way to 50. Since i've been able to create EATs for years and years i felt it would a nice gesture to let them do it as well. It's not like my alts having hit 50 means less because someone else can make an EAT sooner, certainly no more than the thousands who have PL'ed to 50 over the years.
i gave away the epics because i could. End of story.

If that's not enough for you, too bad. I fail to see where you were promised anything more. In fact, you could have seen what you'd get by checking out future veteran rewards.
Cut the passive-aggressive woe-is-me attitude.

Unless i'm horribly misunderstanding the mechanics the damage should follow a bell curve meaning that while the chance for 0% and 200% damage are equal the odds are highest of doing damage closer to 100%.

Quote:Stupid people is what's not really new. Which i guess is just a more general rephrasing of what you just said.I don't usually join sewer team. Last time I joined with my defender, the team leader invited, and looked at my power set, then kicked me. I guess sewer teams being selective is not really new.

Quote:Wow, i'd forgotten about that it's been so long since i looked at the manual. For me it was more "the Rogue Isles are East of Rhode Island? *looks at globe* Are we talking somewhere near Portugal here?"Arachnos
Arachnos was formed from the ashes of an Italian Fascist organization. Born in the fires of World War II, Arachnos's(sic) leader Lord Recluse has taken over the Rogue Isles east of Paragon City and is using it as a staging ground to destroy the City of Heroes.
Arachnos is a multifaceted and deadly group. They are skilled in information control, blackmail, espionage, and assassination (of both mortals ans superbeings). They boast a potent military force and employ -- overtly and covertly -- numerous supers in a wide variety of roles.
The official military and police force is the Spider City Security Force (SCSF). SCSF is further broken down into several specialized departments, each of which serves a particular role.
________________________________________
Okay, granted that I haven't played red-side all that much, this business of the SCSF is news to me. Does the red-side storyline mention any of this? Can you join the SCSF or run a mission for them? What are these specialized departments? -
Quote:Actually, i think it is fun, but then i don't consider it a roadblock, just a challenge. Every so often your steamroller will encounter a tank trap. Go to hospital, grab a few purples if you don't have any, regroup, and then charge back in and wipe out the Cyst. i'm not absolutely certain, but i'm pretty sure the cysts don't regenerate. They were +2 to the team leader, +3 to me due to being SK'd.
I understand the 'challenge' aspect, but it is not a welcome one. When you are happily dealing with +2 missions are a steady pace, to suddenly run into a roadblock that can two shot you is not fun. -
i'm going to agree with Nihilii and DaveMebs and say the Scrapper for all the reasons they already gave.

Quote:N-n-n-n-n-necropost!I don't mind someone investing into their characters, why should I? its how they wish to play the game. But a little common sense is needed her. There are people who rather boast about their purple collecting. Elitism is a two way street but secularism is always ignored. Like you ignored my point.
Actually it exists, I didn't say the devs incorporated it into the gameplay, but rather that people can usually be found boasting. Then theres the common "I worked hard for this IO", I'm fine with how hard people try to get the new "shiny", but many have a hard time keeping it to themselves. The fact that you think me insecure already makes the claim that you collect IO's on the regular, so you're biased...not much credibility there...
Not saying you're wrong, but that rebuttal was a bit over three months in coming. -
Quote:This. Any AT can contribute at sewers levels, but at that level a Controller or Defender is more likely to be useful than almost any other AT. If i was running a sewers team i'd take any warm body that can click an attack button regardless of AT.Blaster, I can see. Damage is good since we're all fairly squishy at that point (dead things can't hurt you), but why would anyone want a lowbie tank? Low damage and a few more hit points, but they don't have any of the tools to mitigate damage yet and they're facing toxic and psi damage.
Why not take the controller or def who may be packing something like tranfusion or AM? Sounds pretty dumb to me. -
That usually would make the spawn smaller. It seems that each spawn wave is mostly based on the number of players and pets within a moderately large radius of the Cyst, not unlike how Hami used to spawn Mitos for the old raids. i don't know if anyone measured it exactly, but my best guess would be about 40 or 50 foot radius.

Quote:This. i've encountered multiple Shadow Cysts recently on full teams with Kheldians and not one team wipe has occurred. However, it was on TF's and teams not cranked to +2 or +3. In fact the ones i recall most out of recent encounters are the ones in ITF missions. No, not the neutered cysts that are mission objectives in both the ITF and the final Kheldian arc, but the classic fuzzball-spewing cysts. Although it is pretty funny when both appear in the same spawn.Even the minions were purple? Sounds like you had your difficulty cranked up...
i wouldn't say they're underpowered by any means, but i also wouldn't say they were overpowered either. At +2 or +3 level difficulty on a full team they will be a serious threat, but that's also true of unexpected ambushes when already in a pitched battle at those settings. There are several ways to minimize their threat even at those settings, but they are dangerous. -
Quote:Some of the guest author and Dev's choice arcs are a lot of fun. You don't get the same end of mission and end of arc bonuses as a regular story arc, but AE tickets are very useful for getting salvage for your recipes. When i'm working on getting sets together i tend to alternate AE arcs and regular missions.AE Baby, you can finish off those levels with one decent AE arc if teamed.
Running a couple ITF's or LGTF's should do it as well. -
Well, i named one of mine Lady Boom-Headshot. Not the best name, but she was made for themed SG.

Quote:Well, if it had five or six ammo toggles i would have definitely agreed that it was too expansive. Three toggles seems just expansive enough to me.Considering that the best IO bonuses generally come at tiers 4 and 5, not having to add 3-5 sockets here will let other skills achieve increased benefits. You aren't making a whole lot of sense with these arguments IMO.
I would again say yes, Swap Amo is incredibly expansive and has significant benefits, one of them being no need for sockets.
And no, it is not expensive.
i haven't noticed that it's expensive as such. At least one person with a 50 DP/EM Blaster seemed to be able to fit IOs into the build if the screenshot was anything to go by. -
Quote:Hell, my lowbies set it to ice ammo for taking down Hellions and fire ammo for just about everything else.I think it's a great skill. You get 3 ways to split your damage, choosing between fire, cold, and toxic. You can select Fire for greater damage, Cold for slows and an increased hold, and Toxic for -damage, a debuff which is way undervalued,
I'm not sure what you're missing, but being aware of your opponent's resistance values makes this set even more versatile. The great thing about having both Cold and Fire is that opponents strong to one type are generally weak to the other.
During beta people were commenting that the swap ammo powers were not slottable, but i'm not sure what people would expect to slot into it. The only thing the toggles do is enable and suppress the different secondary effects of the attacks. The various damage types and effects are built into the attacks themselves. -

Quote:Which is amusing since it's Fire_Minded who escalated the threadjack with juvenile insults about rep instead of saying that rep wasn't relevant to the topic.Fire Minded's terrible grammar makes me want to disagree with him as a knee-jerk reaction, but I have to agree with him at least partially since a reputation discussion is a really lame threadjack.
He even posted an irrelevant screed afterward in another thread about the sorts of shady doings that must be required for other people (me) to not have a rep awash in a sea of red which had little relevance anything outside his agitated brain.
i'm not necessarily opposed to someone having their cake and eating it too as long as they understand that after it's been eaten the cake is in fact no longer cake, but something else entirely. (And it's definitely not chocolate no matter how much it may look like it.)
Anyway, this thread was otherwise pretty much finished before the first page was, so i now bid it a fond farewell. -
Ah, Bill Burroughs stream of consciousness style posting. It's been all the rage lately. Your plans may be to focus on soloing, but mine is to continue teaming just like i usually do.
Something odd i've noticed is that i actually get more tells asking if i'm looking for team on the lower population servers than on the higher population servers. However on the higher population servers i get teams mostly by reading and chatting in the server's global channels.
Some things that the OP might want to consider: 1) today is not a holiday, 2) the average CoH/V player is mid twenties or older, and 3) in the Americas it's still early afternoon for most people.
That means that, double XP or not, the average CoH/V player is probably still at work or in class. Give it a couple more hours and then see how things are. -
Quote:Good point. Just don't forget that Nemesis can also rapidly stack +tohit and +defense on nearby spawns for every lt. defeated, so your -2 and -1 pets can start seeming quite delicate against large groups of Nemesis.Nah. the nemesis/council/malta/etc AoE's can whiff. And if they can whiff, trust me, they will.
*Pats forcefielded pets contentedly*
Many of the 'strongest' mastermind sets have high -tohit or +defense, which with some maneuvers and pet +def/+res IO's make the pets able to shrug off a lot of the AoE's you'll encounter. But the autohit burn patches? It's all a matter of time. You will be having BBQ'd minions.
i for one cannot wait to run the Sewers Trial with Masterminds on the team. To me that will be awesomely fun. -
