You can delete the Cryptic Registry folder under HKEY_CURRENT_USER\Software (using Regedit), which will force the CoHUpdater into thinking CoH isn't installed, and will prompt to download the game. At this point you just point it to your current CoH folder, and then it will skip the download. When you login again, it will be as if it was for the 1st time.

    Can you do it?

not done it, yet. 1st attempt, I forgot I was on +1, 2nd time dropped it to -1 which made no difference what so ever. If I had an everlasting supply of insps it would just be a stalemate.

Having said that I had no shivans or HVAS. I did use 3 snow beasts though

I popped Demonic, (if you don't have Demonic, pop a few purples) then gathered all the Clones and their Pets at a corner, I used my Electric Fences and immobilized more than half of them. After that I ran to another corner and the remaining Pets and Clones ran to me even though their pets were immobilized, this allowed me to take only half of them at once, and it was pretty easy doing it that way.

I found immobilizing the Mastermind Clone's Pets and pull only the Mastermind Clones to a different part of the map, left them out of bodyguard mode and allowed me to kill them quite easily

    Hope this helps!
umm but how, when the 1st patron power you can access in flashback is @ lvl38? This arc is set at 25-30

As I said, I did that. Short of reformatting and reinstalling, I'm unsure of what other tests I could do tbh, and I don't really think I need to do that.

Comparing a game running on a DirectX engine like TF2 to a game running on an OpenGL engine like CoH is non-productive. One of the few things the games engines have in common is that they run on Windows.

EDIT: With CoH Helper being unable to read the registry, I'd suspect some other system problems as well.
I'm not so sure about that imho. CoH Helper is unable to read my CoH registry entry under WinXP, and its also stating that my soundcard driver date is 01/01/0001, and yet under DXDiag it has the correct driver dates for them, and no errors, so I'm not 100% convinced that it is collecting all the data properly.

Things I have done to test if my CoH problems were clientside:

    1. Removing the "cryptic" registry folder, so that CoH Updater would re-write a fresh entry - which it did.

    2. Uninstalled/installed the soundcard drivers and nVidia drivers (using driver sweeper for gfx card), with the very latest drivers - all successful

    3. Checked all other hardware for driver updates (intel chipset, raid controller, BIOS etc etc)

And after the above was done, I still have the same problems:

    - Crashing when changing any Ultra Mode setting (unless in safe mode or the default install settings)

    - Crashing when opening costume window or after opening the contact list after a certain amount of time in game - I've actually found I can safely open the contacts list & costume window about 3 times in succession, just after entering the game - anymore times, or a combination of them along with the badge window and personal info window, and its an immediate crash.

    - Crashing when exiting the game.

    - Huge FPS spikes after about an hour or so (/unloadgfx sometimes works, but the spikes kick in pretty quickly again after zoning)

    - Screwy graphics, like that of the OPs, after exiting an SG base for the first time - fixes itself if I re-enter and exit a 2nd time.

As a note, most of the crashes result in sound looping, and having to ctrl-alt-del > end process. And on occassions I have to reboot the PC because the sound is still looping (or I disable/enable the device in computer management if I can't be bothered to reboot).

I've not had any issues running graphics heavy games, such as ME1/ME2 and SWTFU, at high resolutions, and have had no sound issues in other games.

Here's the CoH Helper data anyway:

  7. question is what mission from what story arc?

I remember there was a bugged defeat all mission I did, that couldn't be completed pre i17... Family on a ship springs to mind
  8. GTX260, XP SP3 & 197.45:

    - Crashes on changing any Ultramode settings unless in safe mode

    - Shadow mapping screws up after entering then exiting SG base for the 1st time (disco glitter ball effect - buildings become shadow maps that move and rotate when you do) - have to re-enter and exit for it to fix itself

    - After about 20mins of game play, contacts list & costume window (including tailor) will cause game to crash

    - Again, after about 20mins, scrolling any window will cause the display to flicker and result in framerate reduction

    - Game will often crash on exiting if any or all of the above happen

    - The longer I play the more frame stuttering, and general graphics glitches I get
  9. Doing it to me right now. Can't jump or fly out, and even logging doesn't work. Only way to get unstuck is to pillar back to midnighters...

    EDIT: jumping backwards works
  10. sry what I meant was I took the spare slot from Imps and put it into Fire Breath and added end redx, as Fire Breath is heavier on end than Blaze

    Mids' for I17

Mids is awesome, its like a CoX mini-game for me. I spend hours on it at work!

    Huge thanks

    .....unless it gets me fired
  12. Okay, replaced RoF with Fire Breath and added the spare slot from Imps to it as its more end heavy than blaze, with the options of going either ragnarok or apoc (or both) for further +rech

    Thanks

    Yes!

Whereas before it tended to just be 1 protbot, with the rare moment a tier 1 would run off, now its a protbot AND a tier 1 running off every other group of mobs. Even the assbot decided to run off once. Pet>follow has never been spammed so much in 1 mission.

At least the elavator bug is fixed.

Yup, this actually worked for me, only downside is if I want to change the graphic settings further, I have to quit the game, log back in under safe mode, change the settings, quit, then log back in normally.

This could be an issue when it comes to MS raids or similar.

Yeah there are a couple of purple options you could choose from by swapping powers around, eg: RoF for Fire Breath, Combustion for Hot Feet or Bonfire (in my latest build that is)

Wouldn't be able to drop Tactics for CJ, as the build is already using 4 pools: Fitness, Speed, Leadership and Fighting, and Vengeance requires at least 2 from leadership so that couldn't replace it either.

  16. lucky this isn't a 35-40 level range, don't think I could cope with 8 fluffies as well as 48 bots.

BTW, what if /dark clones had howling twilight in their powerset???
  17. My favourite memory was about 2 months after I started playing CoV. Myself and a few of the gaming clan I was in got into not long after launch, and we built up a small VG (about 10 members iirc).

We did the Silver Mantis SF as soon as we got the base mission computer, and it took forever to the point there were only 3 of us left right at the end mission. We died so many times, but in the end down to shear bloodymindedness, an awesome tank and shed loads of insps, we prevailed and defeated Duray, got a big shiny badge and all importantly an SO!!
  18. not looking forward to this on my bot/dark mm tbh, especially if all 8 are also tankerminds @_@
  19. well I took your advice Silas, and the best I could come up with was either perma haste (119.5) and just short of SL cap (44.2%), or SL cap (46.1%) and just short of perma haste (120.3). Both builds included blaze and fire blast, and only 1 power needs to be changed to alter between the 2 choices: combustion/hot feet (oblit set) for bonfire (kin crash set). Only way to have both SL cap and perma haste with Fire Blast and Blaze in the build would be to get a 2nd purple set, and it would have to be Apocalypse

Well I've not actually got a Dom, I just thought I would take up the challenge of creating a build following the OP's list. An AoE permadom/permahaste, SL capped fire/fire, without crazy priced purps. I think my last build did exactly that
  21. The game is also constantly crashing when trying to exit, and I'm also getting really bad mapping outdoors in every zone: example screenshot. Its like all the buildings' lights are following me around like a disco ball
  22. experiencing the exact same probs with the same card + drivers running on XP. If I so much as hover my mouse over any of the UM sliders the game crashes.

    FSAA - crash
    Ambient Occ - crash
    Disable Advanced Settings - crash

Weird thing is, its totally random where and when it does crash - sometimes I get a blacked out screen with the hud overlaying before the crash
  23. in Anarchy Online RP its known as losing dimension (or LDing)
  24. you're gonna lose quite a bit of SL def if going Soul Mastery because of no scorp shield (drops to 25.5%).

But, I did come up with this option:

dropped Disrupter Blast for Personal Force Field, and swapped combustion for bonfire, and 6 slotted for kinetic crash. Still need 1 purple set, but seeing the AA set is so much cheaper than Apocalypse.... well you can see for yourself

over all it has a slightly better recharge (@ 177.5% with haste), slightly less heavy on the toggle endurance(@ 1.27), and slightly better SL def cap (@ 46.1%)

I put Celerity in there just as an option for having stealth added into the build - could be dropped for BotZ or whatever

Drawback to this build is you do lose out on the extra AoE, but you do replace the single point immob with a cone attack, or you could keep RoF and slot with Decimation
