I had it in my head that any content submitted is the sole property of the publisher.
[/ QUOTE ]
This is correct.
[/ QUOTE ]
The content you submit is theirs, but if you own an IP and submit it to CoX they can use that. Still remains your IP tho -

Well with the reliability of PCs the way it is I'm amazed even Tinkerbell's survived then

The characters don't belong to us and his work is, his work, it may look alright for us to walk around naked to some of us but his work says something both about him and ncsoft and perhaps even cryptic still.
[/ QUOTE ]
Actually the characters DO belong to us I think you'll find, but NCSoft have the rights to use them in perpetuity.
But the execution of the VEATs is frankly shoddy and half-baked IMO -

They have [censored] costume options
[/ QUOTE ]In your opinion.
In my opinion you just have very poor taste.
[/ QUOTE ]
Allow me to clarify. The costumes of themselves are great but you only get one and you cannot mix it with anything else so you get short changed because of alleged "poor clipping" and because Jay thinks it looks "unprofessional."
I'd argue that it's my call as to whether my character looks unprofessional and not being able to use elements of the VEAT costumes in other character slots is a rip - and only getting one VEAT outfit is short changing the punter. -
I'm gonna be a dissenting voice here then, because I find the VEATs to be very disappointing.
They have [censored] costume options - we've been cheated on that, and half-arsed stories from what I can tell.
Those combined really ruin it for me -

I don't need my life rebuilding. I don't compulisvely game. And I find roleplaying in an MMO rather more social than going down the pub, drinking too excess and throwing up in the gutter on the way home.

Exactly. I wait til I've got the first TF underway before puking -

From the looks of the ideas people are coming up with on that thread, if they are correct, that's got to be the most utterly stupid mechanism for spawning an 'even' I've ever heard of.
However, I also suspect that it's wrong.
Way too many "I had it happen as soon as I turned in salvage" to go with the "it happens at the first turn in after midnight."

I tend to agree but in the absence of anything concrete it's plenty to speculate at -

It doesn't trigger if there has already been one triggerd within a certain time limit.

Which is...? -
There was a raid in Boomtown a couple of days ago. Have we sussed out what triggers them yet?

Maybe make it a Vet Reward instead? Vanguard Teleporter?

Hmm some of these points I agree with to a degree but essentially:
1: There are plenty of low level mobs in Mercy, they're just not right in front of the starter area.
2: This is an RPG, so in the context of the game it makes sense that the missions are nowhere near the contact, and at low levels it's a good way for new players to learn agro ranges, discover exploration badges and the like if they have to walk a fair distance to get to their mission. For more seasoned players it can be a little tedious having to walk all the way across the map to get to a mission, so maybe strike a bit more common gound as it were?
3: Most lvl 5-10 contacts have "Go See Lt Wincott in the Hollows" and the ones at lvl 15 have "Go See Security Chief(?) in <insert PVP zone here>". Again, this is a good way of introducing new players to areas and parts of the game they might not immediately be aware of. If you don't want to go there, just drop the mission from the contact. There are a few contacts that are, for example based in Steel Canyon, but all their missions are in Skyway City - wouldn't it make more sense just to stick 'em in Skyway in the first place?
4: Not sure I agree with this at all. I don't want to fight the same groups of enemies from 1-50 just because they happen to share the same origin as me; way to make the game tedious as hell! (On a side note.. that's an interesting way to look after enhs LN; I tend to just use DO/SOs and not think about IOs until the late 40s. Thinking about it, your way probably does work out cheaper because the lower level IOs probably go for next to nothing, and you don't have to worry about red enhs when you level. Might actually give that a try)

I'm with Steel Rat on this.
I do agree with a further comment that we need a couple more contacts on villains tho. Snakes ad nauseum is... nauseous -

I can't really see why people are getting on the high horse about this. If I read correctly, then it won't affect you unless you do real money trading.
Also, RMT prices are insane, IMHO. As I like to say, if you trade with real money and virtuall money, the only loser is yourself. The seller just gets his cold, hard cash ready to spend it on whatever he likes, probably another MMO, then rack up the cash on that, buy another until he has dominated all the MMOs and now decides to buy a mansion.
[/ QUOTE ]
Neither of those statements are true.
The article stated that it's difficult to track virtual <-> real world transactions so therefore tax all transactions is the simplest and most effective way to deal with that problem. So to take Second Life as an example, you currently buy something for $L100 ( 100 Linden Dollars ) but in the future you might have to buy it for $L125 because of a governmental tax. Those of us who play Second Life in the EU already pay VAT on our subscriptions.
As for existing in many virtual worlds with Real World Economies, (Entropia, Second Life etc) although they are notionally "free" to play to play, to get the best out of them does require some level of financial input to get the best out of them. It's comparable in some ways to your subscription to CoX but fluctuates depending on how much "stuff" you have. Such transactions from £Sterling to $Lindens are already taxed - several times over if you think about it. I pay VAT on my transactions, I also pay PayPal or my bank to transfer funds to and from my account - and those funds are taxable too. If I make a vast fortune (it is theoretically possible and some people do make a comfortable living from virtual environments) in world, translate those funds into £ in my bank, I then would need to declare those funds as taxable income and pay whatever the going taxable rate is.
However with closed systems such as CoX etc I cannot see how those transactions can be taxed. Even if they were taxed the revenue collected couldn't actually be redeemed in any way. -
I was thinking I'd like small chest emblems to be available too on all costume options

I swapped out my drive and I've reinstalled CoX but totally forgot about saving my UI layout settings. In fact I never even considered it but now when I make a new toon the settings are all over the shop.
Can somebody please remind me how to do that?

You may be right. It doesn't make much difference now anyway, whatever the reason, the prob is to low for that proc to be worth slottting.
[/ QUOTE ]
I have the disorient proc slotted into Short Circuit - it doesn't always fire, granted, but it helps with the other effects within Elec/Elec blasting. The probability I thought was 10%.
It's also dirt cheap.

I slot that in Lightning Field. Cheap power -
I'm not sure I see a real benefit here in terms of dev time
