The obvious answer is Devs hate Villains
But I suspect it's more about the fact they can't justify it so readily given the historical low numbers redside. How that has changed (if at all) since GR went live I don't know but I'm pretty sure they know there's a disparity. The real question would it be worth the time/effort?
With the new TFs we've gotten recently they've mostly been both sides... Kahn/Barracuda and Sutter/Kal are good examples.
It would be nice... but I'm not gonna sweat too much if it doesn't happen -
Quote:I love this! The "Spartacus" thing would have to be a badge, or even better, an Accolade - say, "By sparing their lives in the Arena, you've earned the loyalty of 100 slaves. Once every 20 hours, you can incite a group of slaves to rally to your cause." (Imagine something like a REALLY amped up Gang War temp power!)
And happy birthdayHave a brilliant day

I am Spartacus!
Love it!!!!!
I have heard rumours of PVP getting some Dev love so maybe... just maybe... you're on to something -
Vorpal's a lot of fun
I find my target then once I'm facin them often run back a bit to line up. Also there's a Face Target keybind in the options menu I believe so try that -
I loved all of this.
I want the Bee Bark for meeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeee
Thanks PS... you consistently raise a laugh in this part of the world with your April Foolery! -
I ran this last night for the first time and I was like "wow"... the scenery and effects seemed gorgeous and actually the story was pretty good too.
However, I found that the whole "end-of-level-boss" was a real disappointment, even as an AV. I mean he just went down quicker than you could say Jack Anything... and although we had no issues with the AVs at the start of the arc, at least they resisted. It just seemed too easy in the end.
Ending was very funny though -
I've been in touch with support and they suggested I run in Safe-Mode for a bit which I did and crashed during the Underground Trial too but this time I was able to C&P the error and fire it off to them, so hopefully they will be able to find some clues in that

Quote:Ah, haven't heard that one since I was knee high to a grasshopper. I'm not a big Janis Joplin fan, so that's not one of the pre-80s songs on my internal playlist.
What are young grasshoppers knee high to?
I remember this well... but I'm surprised nobody's parodied this
Wow I feel so old -
It's sad for some players - and sad news generally but I get the reasons behind it.
There is, I guess, one small, upside in that those of us who are more linguistically challenged can team with our French and German colleagues - perhaps.
Let's hope this helps integrate the community rather than becoming an issue, but I would feel pretty low if I was a French or German player -
there are so many holes in canon, and so many borked stories in the game - especially the incarnate content that it's often just easier to ignore the lore and play the game.

No I'm on 2.96 I think. I've spent a few hours on the nVidia website (I've got a GTX460) making sure I'm on the latest drivers just in case but I'm set to auto update.
Quote:What REALLY needs to happen is at least a temporary suspension (or at least a marked slowdown) of new development while the game code gets a good "thrice-over" and has someone thoroughly fuzz the results.
That isn't going to happen though. It can't. Paragon's built their workflow pipeline for ship-and-patch. And it's going to keep going that way until the game crashes down around their ears.
Some have commented here about it being something to do with players maintenance - but that stretches credulity. The other night, we tried to run Kahn (on Defiant) and gave up after three entire team crashes on the first mission and three more on the second. This was not one or two, it was the entire team. That is completely unacceptable.
Also if it were to be a driver issue or a system issue, you'd expect that other games and software would prove equally unreliable. However my experience is that other games do not crash (or if at all, very very rarely) and I have a distinct crash pattern: I crash on iTrials. I don't (normally) crash on TFs - even Apex and TM. If it were a driver issue, then it is likely that my "crash pattern" would likely be more of a broad spread.

Bon voyage and best of luck for the future!

Quote:I think you underestimate our desire to expand the game in more creative ways.
Counter question:
Let's say, hypothetically, we introduced a new AT, but because of the amount of time and cost it would take to develop it, we had no choice but to offer it in the Paragon Market (a possible scenario).
Based on our established precedents, what do you feel would be a fair price, in Paragon Points?
I'm interested in your responses.
Given the development required, and working on the basis this is a "unique" AT - I think that somewhere between 1.5x the cost of an existing purchasable AT (MM/Controllers etc)
I think if Paragon went over 2x that cost, it has the potential to be seen as a "rip off" but the same price as a regular AT makes it seem almost too cheap. -

First, drop rates are waaaay to high- who's ever been excited to get a temp power drop? It's always "Ohboy, wonder what that.....UGH, another lame temp power!"
Second, the annoyance factor is higher than it should be given the weak/situational utility of the powers. The payoff for gathering ingredients and crafting the recipe is minimal.
I'd like to see them balanced either by making the powers better & thus worth the annoyance, or made much rarer. I hate 'rare' drops that are nothing but inventory cloggers, and the concept of temp power drops is so cool the lame reality annoys me all the more.
It's kinda like wing drops back in the day- when they were super rare everyone wanted them and they were exciting, after the rates were supercharged they were junk and may as well have just been available at the tailor.
Pretty well this: Some powers are slightly useful - Backup Radio is good for my SoA for example and Envenomed Dagger is handy to have on any character but some are just junk.
The cost to craft them is way higher than any relevance or usefulness and there are far too many of them dropping. -
Definitely needed - and the shape from the phoenix tail works nicely as a template.
Also... Ray Charles -
I would love to see dark auras... you know... like the black ichor oozing from a dark crupper's feet or seeping from joints and tumbling to the floor
there's a problem with the dark stuff in terms or costume parts and effects; if there's any transparency then dark makes it close to invisible. Black makes most effects near transparent.
What we need is a transparency slider for effects that are important - so that we can set their level as desired. -
When entire teams and leagues crash - repeatedly - I know it's not me. It's not my PC, it's not my config. But when you cannot complete stuff because Cityofheroes.exe has encountered a problem and needs to close... and it happens to several people on the team if not the entire team/league. That's a massive problem for Paragon Studios and I'm tired of it.

I had that problem a few times, but it's fixed now. Whenever I create a new character I type the following:
/wdwload
/optionload
/chatload
/bindload
That then sets up the screens as I want for every character and if anything goes wrong, it's an easy fix.
Obviously before you do that, you'll need to make sure you've got an alt with everything set exactly the way you want using the corresponding save option (eg /wdwsave etc)
Hope that helps -
Why do you crash the entire team several times every mission?

Quote:Thanks for everyone's input so far.
I tried Poison on an MM, and I'm quite sure I'm not ready to try it again just yet.
I keep looking at Trick Arrow, but I'm finding myself hesitant to go that route. I may change my mind and try it on this toon. It's a set I haven't played with much, and I should give it a thorough try at some point.
I tried poison on a pre-buff MM and hated it. I'm running it on a dark/poison at the moment and loving it!!!! Seriously... it's a totally different animal and has a bit of everything. A really nicely rounded set.
I think that's why I like it and TA so much because they are jacks of all trades but give you a good mix of the stuff you need - great in teams, useful for solo. -
interesting. Yeah I'm thinking they are a nice to have... and as you say the damage is a nice bonus but I'm actually liking the character as she is. She's very new (created 16th March - 50 by the Monday night) so I'm still getting to know her as it were - I've built her a pretty ok build but I tend to mostly aim at the softcap, simply to give her some surviving....

Like Memphis Bill, I kind of object to the notion of "Gimping" but perhaps for a slightly different reason.
In simple terms I play the character I want to play and if I get into it then it goes a long way. If for whatever reason I cannot relate to it, whether or not it's technically good it gets consigned to the great hero dustbin in the sky. If however I enjoy it, whether or not it's good on paper, it sticks around and continues to be developed over time.
One thing that amazes me is the lack of realisation amongst a large proportion of the playerbase that there are at least 1001 ways to play this game, each as valid as each other, and none are bad per se, but it seems that if you do anything other than go for a min/max build and try to make your toon as uber as possible you will get laughed at by many.
I build almost all my characters for concept, rather than ability, and only a few turn out to be unworkable, so it's generally a case that if I like it, it'll do the job I want it to do - and I also have a quirk that makes me want to take on extra challenges within the game, just because. But to do that, the challenge has to be achievable, so I'll try and make a tough character to solo the ITF, for example - and I cannot ever imagine doing something like trying to solo the STF only using TO enhancers
So in a roundabout way I guess I've said "sort of"
