  1. Okay I figured out how to change the figures on Mid's here are the steps

    1.Options
    2. Advanced
    3. Database Editor
    4. Invention Set Editor
    5. Blessing of the Zephyr which is under travel
    6. Where it says 2 enhancements double click the bonus to remove it
    7. Select Increased Range Defense 1.25% and half the energy/neg
    8. Select in the box where it says 2 enhancements and select the 3 enhancements
    9. Double click the set bonus to remove it
    10. Select the 1.25% AoE defense bonus
    11. Okay
    12. Save and Close

And that will allow you to modify the numbers for BoTZ.

Now here is my modified build according to the new numbers, I'm still working on it but this is rough draft #1.

    Respec Recipes

I'd suggest buying respec recipes now due to the BoTZ changes that were announced yesterday. I got in on 20 early on for around 175 million and now they're already trading at 200-250 million.
  3. Well with the announced BoTZ changes I've made some updates to my build but I can't post them yet because I'm using a modified data base and it will probably end up crashing your Mids lol.

If this is the intended balance for shields then I think shield users should generally rejoice that we got nerfed so little. SR characters can easily be soft capped without using a single BoTZ set.

Sure adjustments to builds need to be made so a lot of defensive builds may be sporting less recharge, less regen, less recovery, but it still leaves them plenty formidable. Just FYI, my fully IO'ed (purpled, PvP IO'ed) fire/shield will probably come out of this with about 5% less recharge, a little less regen, a little less hitpoints and a little less recovery. However she'll be gaining a bit more smash/lethal resistance to make up for it due to slotting of a couple of Aegis to make up lost AoE.
I wish I could say the same, my Dark/Shield loses 20% recharge, over 39% regeneration and about .25 end/sec recovery. Not to mention the slotting in DC is now underpar.
  5. I made a few quick changes to your build, I'd definitely advise taking health over hurdle

  6. You're going to have to fix your build post, post it using the titan forum set up.
  7. Hasten isn't anywhere near being permanent it has a 15 second down time, are you sure you're excluding the recharge proc in your build?

Over all the build looks good, it'd be fun to see what its capable of.
  8. Best is relative, jack of all trades would be Fire/Regeneration, its good at AV soloing, good in medium sized spawns, good at PvP and general PvE.

In regards to Going Rogue, we know you are all chomping at the bit for some new information. Please know that regular status updates are a top priority for us and you’ll be hearing more about the expansion in upcoming weeks.

Meanwhile, we’ve been growing in size and have had some exciting staffing promotions and changes occur recently that we’d like to share with you – especially because some of the individuals involved are about to start interacting here on the boards as new red names!

Always willing to jump in and get his hands dirty, Matt “Positron” Miller has handed over day-to-day management of the Design Team to Melissa “War Witch” Bianco so that he can focus on the critically important End Game system in addition to a few other “top secret” initiatives. We’re certain that Posi has made this selfless hands-on sacrifice not only to ensure that the End Game is the best it can possibly be, but also to make Melissa’s life a living…er… a lovely educational and professional growth experience. So congratulations and good luck to War Witch who now leads the Design team, boldly forging CoH’s path into the future.

Our long-time Publishing Producer Jesse “Ghost Falcon” Caceres also has something to celebrate, as he has taken on a larger role with the team as our Development Producer. Therefore, we’re pleased to introduce C. “Doc Delilah” Bales who is new to Paragon Studios, but brings a wealth of MMO experience and will be assuming Ghost Falcon’s previous role. Congrats to Ghost Falcon and please join us in welcoming Doc Delilah to CoH and the forums!

But the congratulations don’t stop there. Vince “Dark Watcher” D’Amelio has asked that we announce that Matt “The Television” Stults, is now leading the Programming team. The team will be in great hands with Matt who has been on the project for well over a year enabling Vince to work on a variety of initiatives throughout the studio. Please join me in welcoming programming guru Matt as he enters the world of red names on the forums!

We want you to get to know a lot of these folks better in their new roles, so you can expect to see them participate in the “Ask A Dev” Program where you get to submit questions to a designated Dev Team Member and then they pick a handful to answer on the forums. First up is Melissa “War Witch” Bianco, so go here to read her bio and submit your question!

Speaking of War Witch, Melissa has conducted her first interview as Design Lead with MMORPG.com. See what she has to say about Game Design, Going Rogue and a whole lot more. Go here to read the interview.

Thanks for listening, everyone, and congratulations one last time to the CoH team members mentioned above. Something tells me that they’ll all be popping onto the boards to say their hellos and chat with you soon!

Not every set is going to be better than anything else they've ever done, or it will get ridiculous pretty quickly.

Willpower came out and it was the best set for a while, then Shields came out and IT was the best set. Mental Manipulation, same thing. Seriously, does every set HAVE to be absolutely OMG awesome?

I guess people are just more interested in being powerful than in having a well crafted character who is fun to play.
I for one am saying that it can be improved compared to itself. It isn't an issue of being more powerful, stronger, faster, etc... It is a balance issue and the developer did not balance a few powers to where they should be.

How easy do you think this guy will be to solo? Considering how pistols performs I'm going to wager he'll be a 3 out of 10 on the difficulty scale. Am I jumping to conclusions without any hard data, you bet I am!

Before ranting about having bajillions of influence or ruining your uber marketeering skillz.. Please take into consideration that for this game to thrive and continue to grow it needs to be newbie friendly.

I get by decently as a 30 month Vet with 10 50's and all 36 of my character slots filled on Virtue, but at times I struggle to even begin to slot a build the way I planned it. So imagine for a second what it would be like to be a new player looking at the market and seeing 100's of millions of influence for one thing and then their bankroll barely breaking a million. (If they are lucky)

That being said, I propose removing player to player influence transfers, unless you are emailing it (ala i17) to a character on the same account only. Remove all enhancement and recipe drops, and using the system currently in play add an influence bonus, where a dropped recipe would be gained.

Now I'm sure you're wondering where and how we'll get our sets and recipes, right? From a vendor. If there's one thing this game lacks, it's money sinks, and it's quite apparent when looking at the market. Influence is just being passed from player to player ans generated at an astounding rate from drops. Remove ALL salvage...crafting would then be useless. Using the same menu system as currently used in WW/BM, navigating the vendor would be simple.

Make Epics scale from 30-50, rather than just 50 and keep PVP-IOs and the new level scaled Purples as drops that are worth a LOT of influence when sold to a vendor, should you not want them. This will ad the MMO standard "bind on pick-up/bind on equip" to the game that has proven very beneficial among every other MMO out there.

Most of you will just suggest that if people cant afford one thing or another to run TF's and Arcs to gain merits and buy them that way. I couldn't agree more. But that isn't solo friendly, for those who enjoy soloing most of the time. This offers itself to making merits drop from mobs and removing influence all together. The point is having multiple forms of currency and little to no money sinks in the game have allowed the costs to sky rocket which leaves all of the best/most useful enhancements unattainable for 95% of the player base.

The devs hate farming and exploits. So making every mob drop the same amount of influence based on level of the player and minion/leut/boss/EB/AV status, would aid in this. And not needing bajillions of inf would let players make the toons they really want, while just enjoying the game as intended.. rather than farming, exploiting and TF speed running for hours on end, with minimal gain.

I'm not saying the game needs to lessen the time sinks, but it does need more money sinks.. and I think this is the solution.

    /ramble
    *wipes brow*

Whew!... I hope this makes sense to everyone. Every time I bring it up in game everyone seems to agree with me, aside from the marketeers on my friends list rolling 200-300 million influence into their bankroll daily. And that in itself, sorry guys, is a prime example of why the markets are a bad idea. The devs constantly work on fixing exploits but over look the source of the issue.

    Thanks!
    Syndyr
    Short answer: no

Long answer: Market was created so that rare enhancements could be sold at rare prices. Want them really badly? Work for it.
  17. You can take physical perfect on a /regen so you can skip fitness, and to answer your question I took ET a while ago and dropped in the next freespec I got.
  18. There was a huge thread about this in the beta section that exploded into giggling and pointing at the immature, I wish I had copied that thread into a word document, there was seome serious lulz to be had there.
  19. I'd like to play a katana, claws, spines/shield scrapper

  23. Two powers that are skippable IMO on Pistols is Executioner's Shot and Suppresive Fire. From Kinetics I'd say Inertial Reduction and Increase Density. I'm working on a Pistols/Kin build at home, I'll have to post it up once I'm done.

Got him to lvl 16, and started to see some real potential for a good farmer, so I rerolled as an elec/shield, and it's really doing some amazing things, so I decided to take a look at anything anyone has put up about this pairing.

I like alot of of the things everyone's put up as their optimal farming builds, but, I do have a question about everyone's builds here. Before I ask, remember, I'm new to SD, so my knowledge is VERY limited. One thing that was in alot of the builds listed were both phalanx fighting and grant cover. Now the OP was looking for a solo farm build, so why include these in a solo farm build if they offer no real help for a person soloing aside from grant cover's resist defense debuff? Am I missing something here, or is there a good reason to include these that I'm just not seeing?
Grant Cover adds to your defense debuff resistance and if you're farming any enemy with -def you'll want that.

Phalanx Fighting adds 3.75% to all of your positions.

Both give you a place to add a luck of the gambler: defense/increased recharge.
