My two latest creations
Very Manly Mummy is a mummy with a human half brother. He struggles with trying to decide if he is a man or a mummy. He will start off as a hero and then slowly becomes an evil villain after much agonizing and singing.
Mummy of a Man is a human whose brother is a mummy. He starts off trying to dress like a mummy and being a mummy villain. As time goes on he will finally embrace his humanity afer much agonizing and singing. He will start as a villain and then work towards being a vigilante
Am I a man ... or am I a mummy? If I'm a mummy then I'm a very manly mummy.... -
When the world first ended I went down fighting in Founders Falls.
-
My favorite villain I have is an old Hickman's Villain's thread character named Witchdoctor Seuss. His motivation is more insanity and Xenophobia than Evil. I change the bio from time to time from its original state trying to get something like a cross between a Dark Graphic Novel and a Children's Book...
Once upon a time in Paragon City
There was a doctor quite wise and quite witty
His friend were all gathered, quite a social affair
everyone he would care about was standing right there
The town was undergoing a Rikti Invasion
Which I heard has happened on more than one occasion
The doctor and his friend partied without a care
then were captured and dragged off to the Rikti Lair
The doctor heard his friend screaming one by one
his medical mind noted their experiments were not done
They connected a probe and they sampled his brain
no anathesia no tylenol just massive waves of pain
What was this poor fractured mind supposed to do
When the brain started thinking Mg'awd Gr'rakk Mu Cthul'hu
The Rikti have never once magic detected
When the dead rose, bit and clawed it was all unexpected
The doctor gyred and gimboled as his friends followed his lead
They went to the next lair and watched the Rikti all bleed
Meanwhile in Paragon City the Heros were praised
No Rikti? O Frabjuos Day! The town was amazed
Meanwhile under town the Doctor continued his merrymaking
Rikti Pinata's from the ceiling all his friends just kept breaking
Now the newspapers say the Heroes made the Rikti fail
But how come not a single Rikti rests in our jails?
When the Zig Warden was asked if the escapees were back yet
He remembers something terrible and starts a slow sweat
For his mind has seen, it can't unsee, yes it has seen
The yellow beamish smile from the man in cell thirteen
(I have notes about the pictures to go with this but not really wanting to ruin peoples sleep) -
My idea is the Undefeated Intangible Swarm. He is a hero who had some of his internal organs replaced with Devouring Earth swarms in a mad experiment. He only survived because he never gives up. He escaped from his captors because he was able to become intangible
UIS refusal to admit defeat would turn every mission he is in to a defeat all mission. Every time someone targets him, injures him or debuffs him his body releases a group of swarms. When he is targetted he goes intangible
Another idea is The Tosser , a named Redcap Boss. His only power is a ranged attack where he throws out those large redcaps that throw small redcaps at you. He is attemping to destroy the Crotoa Tramstop by gathering a huge army of redcaps to hurl at it.
My awful RP idea is the Jackal Lantern. He is the son of a mixed marriage between a Warwolf and a Streng. He has suffered discrimination at the hands of both Warwolves and Streng. This would lead to all sorts of bad twilight quotes. During the Halloween event mission people would discover he is dating a named female war wolf boss but he is cheating on her with a female streng named "Big Pumpkins" -
I was trying to come up with something like Mot's 100 Percent Unnatural Zombie Juju but never had something really good for the juice angle
-
When Mot comes and he makes Dark Astoria even darker he will need some named bosses. Here are a few names I came up with that they will never use....
(Undead Scientist) Center for Deceased Control
(Undead Scuba Diver) Death Charge
Natural Causes
(Undead Baseball Player) Going Going Gone
$Target has left the building
(Undead Chauffeur) Pushing Up Miss Daisy
The Parrot Sketch
(Undead Biker) Dirt Nap
(Undead Computer Geek) Blue Screen (of Death) -

Holiday Trial
"Yeah I soloed the Snowbeasts, and I got past the halloween waves but then came those rabbits with eggs. Sooooo many eggs!"
SciFi Movie Task Force
Fight all those so bad they are funny monsters. Mansquito! Shaktopus!
Mad Scientist Trial
Dr Aeon's assistant leaves the lab door open and stuff starts running out. Every mad scientist cliche with that Energy thing from red side as the final boss.
Rejected Alternate Statesmans Trial
Canada's Provincesman, South Anerica's Banana Republicman, Dry Cleaning's Stainsman, Chain Restaurant's The Steaksman
Rikti Monkey Pun Trial - named Rikti Monkey NPCs like Winnie the Pooh Flinger or Chimpion -
How about recruiting NPCS as Gladiators? It would be amusing to recuit the NPCs from radio/newspaper missions as well as some special options. Then I could take my gang of desperados and fight some hero and their super team.

Quote:Not with another Dean, no. But we need more "the contact is your lackey" arcs.
Instead of waiting for the game company isn't this something that would make for a good bragging rights contest between players?
Players create AE arcs that fit your criteria.
You and maybe someone else plays and judges the AE content. T
The best story arcs get evil bragging rights on the forums -
OK, I personally am more likely to be sending the Phalanx clues made from those chalky candy hearts pasted on a heart shaped card, but I have found the perfect backstory for a new member. Its as simple as Malico, Juikon, Sitrix!
Lets say that something that happened a long time ago inspired the young people. Some of them would be inspired to become police, firemen, and doctors specializing in treating heros. A few of them would have the skills and abilities to join Longbow or Wyvern. The best of the best have what it takes to be a hero.
Now all I need is to figure out how they obtained every taser ability in the game so annoying "I soloed everything guy" can spend 30 minutes getting tasered over and over again. -
Nuts, schedule conflict with my surgery. It would be interesting to talk to people about online roleplay and where they see themselves in the game.

From what I see this could be done with some minor radio mission changes.
Cryptic models a bunch of two objective radio missions. One objective benefits the villain. One objective hurts the public in some way.
Villain shakes down protected witness & trades information with (npc group)
Disable Hospital Alarms and rescue wounded (npc group) VIP
Buy doctored photos of (npc) buying Superadine and plant them at a crime scene
(NPC) is speaking to their fan club, Defeat them and threaten all their fan club members
The flip side of this would be two objective hero missions. One objective benefits the public. The other causes them some sacrifice on their part.
Disable (npc group) portal to bank . Stop (npc) before dinner gets cold. In this the hero would defeat the villain group portals but when they take more time to defeat another NPC boss they are later for dinner and get yelled at
Rescue stolen Hero tech. Escort Sidekick to safety. Some hero was defeated and robbed. You rescue their tech but then you find out the sidekick was kidnapped as well.
This could be some fun if done right. -
Quote:Because after I read your thread I pulled out some of my reference materials for creating evil NPCs. I thought they might interest people. There are a lot of players who roll up an evil character with a cool costume and then have absolutely no idea what to do next. Why does this feel like the informational pamphlet designed to go with my "It happened AGAIN" post?
I also sketched out an AE arc as well. Something for myself to mess around with. Could I tell a story and show the before/after of your villainous actions? -
In order to have dastardly deeds or glorious heroics we have to understand how people work. Once we understand how people work we can fix or break them just like toys.
How do I make people think of me as a hero?
The seven basic goals of a person are Happiness, Health, Prosperity, Security, Piece of Mind, Relationships, and Hope for the future. This is a basic tenet of counseling and mentoring (where a lot of my RP Materials come from). In order for someone to think of me as heroic my actions have to intentionally increase one or more of these goals of the public.
How do I make people think of me as a villain?
You are going to take actions that cause one or more person to move further away from their goals. You are going to sadden, injure, rob, threaten, trouble, interfere or cause doubt in one or more others.
But I want to kill people and have a lair made of skulls, with skull doors, skull power generators, and a button that makes it rain blood. Isn't that evil?
Simply injuring people is sampling one dish from a succulent buffet. The amount of suffering is very limited because you only oppressed them once. It may also lead people to see you are a cliche. Online roleplay has always had a lot of Deathy McDeaths who think evil is about turning the game world into some sort of giant meat packing plant.
So what sort of evil and good options are there for me?
According to modern counseling there are over 100 negative personality traits that will lead to therapy. The flipside of this is there are over 100 different ways to be good. By taking these to the extreme we can be a little bad or very bad
Here is part of my three page list I got from a counseling center
Reckless/Caution
Drug Dependant/Independant
Rebellious/Supportive
Hostile/Understanding
Mean/Kind
Rude/Polite
Selfish/Sharing
Vain/Humble
Petty/Serious
These are motivations for doing good/bad things that are paired up with helping/hindering goals.
If I create some dangerous experiment that might blow me up I thats not really evil. If I kidnap every pizza delivery person and turn them into brains in a jar because science > humans then thats evil. Its motivation and action combined that makes it evil.
Putting this into use
In the mayhem mission lets make the arson and bank robbery seem awful.
First I would foreshadow the acts. I am going to introduce my victims and make them sympathetic. This can be done by NPCs, Clues, and other story materials. NPCs could say something like "The local bank teller gave me advice to save more money for retirement". This show the bank positively reinforcing the NPC's life.
Next we go in and rob the bank. The NPCs can exhibit concern about health, prosperity, or you can always have someone have a nervous breakdown under stress. This gets accross that I am negatively influencing all these people.
After the bank is robbed then we show an Epilogue of the events. We can have the retirement person searching for a cardboard box to live in and scrounging for old pizza boxes with moldy pizza crusts. We can have a shady NPC saying that they may want to hench for me because of my bank performance. Citizens can also voice outrage that the authorities are letting me run wild. Angry senior finger poking the Longbow demanding to know what they are going to do about me.
The combination of foreshadowing, action, and epilogue show my negative effect on the game world. It is not necessary to have Atlas Park become a giant mound of bloody skulls to show influence on the game world.
One Last Thing
Its important to know the difference between being evil and being a tool. Ruining the game experience for other people playing it makes you a tool. Being able to give and take makes the better for you and the players you encounter. -
Next time I will give a whole sentence to make things easier

Valencrime's day is coming a bit early, but since you are all experienced heroes and villains you are up to the challenge I bet......
To make things interesting St Valencrime has run a keyword extraction program on mission introductions from 3 game Task Forces, 3 Dev's Choice Arcs, 3 three starred arcs, and 3 one starred arcs.
I am going to list the higher scoring phrases from each piece of content. From these small three word phrases you will have to determine which type of story it came from. You get one point per correct answer.
If you can identify the Task Force the phrases came from you get +1 point. If you can identify the Dev's Choice Arc a phrase came from you get +2 points. An example of a phrase is "twilight's last gleaming" from the Star Spangled Banner.
#1 "Imperious, deposed Ruler" "have fallen back"
#2 "wormhole-thingy that's opened" "He's- Look Nevermind"

Anything with two sides will always fail because of side stacking. If they had something with 3 sides like Heroes vs Villains vs Shivans then the two weaker sides could team up on the more powerful side.

Quote:If only there was some sort of mission creating tool complainers could use to create their own content. Then the Devs could put access to it in almost every zone in the game. Oh if only such a thing existed then this poor unfortunate could create the type of missions that they want to play!
Is anyone else getting tired of being labeled a hero at the last minute? Some REAL villainy would be nice. Killing Alexis Cole-Duncan? Hell yes. Roughing up Johnny Sonata so he'll record a song capable of trashing Sister Psyche's brain? Alright then! Firing a warhead at Paragon to get the attention of big-name heroes just so they'll look the other way? DAMN RIGHT!
