Seriously though, the list of what I'd choose from (I realize the size of the list is a bit long.)

    Either Fire/SS, Fire/Ice, Fire/Elec Inv/SS, Inv/Stone, Inv/SS, Inv/Ice, Inv/Elec, Ice/Ice, Ice/SS, Ice/Stone, Ice/Elec, Shield/SS, Shield/Elec, Shield/Ice, Shield/Stone.
A list that varied should probably include some Elec/ combos. It's better than fire in resists, and while it doesn't have as much +dmg, it does allow for some good help in the +rech builds. Also, zero endurance issues and more resist categories allow for broader farming options.

I'm not necessarily saying it's better than fire/ just that it's as good as it.

Half those bands listed I found on Pandora (which I can't imagine going without now). And with Ping being available, I'm hoping to find some more music there as well. But I thought I'd try here since, for the most part, I consider this a like minded community to myself.
  4. Sometimes, when none of my SG is online and I don't have to worry about hearing anyone of TS/Vent, I like to put on some music to keep things fresh. There was a time I was listening to a lot of rock (mostly 90s era stuff, STP, NIN, Pearl Jam, Sound Garden, etc.), but then it moved to more of an electronic/tech/rock sound (Daft Punk, Justice, Prodigy, etc.) Now, it's kind of moved forward from there into a wider range of the same.

I'm not sure of the best way to describe the bands I've been enjoying lately. The best I can do is to say they make a lot of use of synthesizers, vocal harmonies, electronica, atmospheric moods and other similar musical aspects. I've enjoyed a lot from these bands: Cut/Copy, Empire of the Sun, The Radio Dept., MGMT (mostly the Congratulations album), Kaskade, Chromeo, Junior Boys, Flaming Lips (especially the Yoshimi and Soft Bulletin albums), M83, Vincent and Mr. Green, Goldfrapp, Passion Pit, Phoenix, Zero 7, the Yeah Yeah Yeahs and a few other bands similar in sound to them. To a lesser degree, Gnarles Barkley, Danger Mouse, Gorillaz, and the like.

As you can see, most of those aren't commercial play groups, which is why I'm coming here. So if you like any of those bands and have some suggestions for what you think might fit those tastes, let me know! I know it's a little eclectic in some spots, but I'm willing to listen to anything that might fall somewhere in the middle.

But please don't bother telling me my music choices suck. I get that enough from anyone who ends up riding in my car!

  7. For Gaming:

Keyboard and Gaming Mouse. My brother convinced me to try a gaming mouse a couple of years ago, and I'm glad he did. Having the extra buttons to assign my TeamSpeak push-to-talk to has greatly improved the predicament of conflicting game controls. Slap it on a mouse button and never worry about re-assigning it again for games that use that button.

    For Everything else:

Wacom Tablet. Especially for artwork. Using a mouse at that point is like trying to paint the Mona Lisa using a cinder block as a brush.

DR is best suited with Frankenslotting. I would put the hierarchy of enhancement values in this order: (1st place) End, Acc, Rech, (2nd place) Heal. Those first three will keep you from running out of endurance to fast while making sure you've got it up when you need it. The heal part is good for AV/EB/Boss situations.

I have a pretty decent slotting for the power in Mids, but can't access it from work right now. Maybe Dechs has something he could suggest for it.

    A new experience

I didn't notice anyone mentioning it, so I'll throw in this little bit of advice on Chain Induction. In a group, lead with Chain Induction or put it early in your attack on the group. Yes, it can hit up to four more targets, but it stops after any foe is defeated. So if you target a nearly dead foe in a group of 5, and you defeat him with CI, it won't jump to anyone else and you'll have lost some good endurance use.

It's still a great power, though! I usually lead with that, and then hit Thunder Strike. While TS animates, I watch CI do its work to those who are about to get hit. Then while they're down on the ground from TS, I line up Jacob's Ladder for a good clean up. (this of course, is my lead in when Lightning Rod is recharging)

So, that leaves you these options:

Primary – Ice, Dark, and Electric

Secondary – Battle Axe, Dark Melee, Electrical Melee, Ice Melee, Kinetic Melee, Super Strength, War Mace

The three primaries are all fun, I'm surprised you have played Ice yet. I might suggest that one, followed by Elec. Dark isn't for everyone, but then again, maybe it's the new experience you need.

    For Ice, I would suggest:

    Ice/Kin - Lotsa -Dmg.
Ice/Dark - -To hit on top of your defense (done it, IO'd it and I can't praise it enough)
    Ice/Elec - Lotsa Drain

    For Elec:

    Elec/SS - Smashtastic.
Elec/Kin - -Dmg on top of resist. Should be very helpful.
Elec/Dark - Double End recovery and heals. Should be a lot of non-stop moving.

    For Dark:

Dark/Dark - The two were designed for each other. Dark Consumption being a big part of that.
    Dark/Mace - Stunningly stunning.
Dark/Ice - An ultimate in control. Practically a tank-mage. I've got one shelved at 40 at the moment. You have almost every controller power out there. A KD PBAoE patch, a hold, a stun PBAoE, a fear PBAoE, and a sleep (lol).

No thanks. You had me excited until I saw all the kinetic crash sets. Low damage that turns all my attacks into knockback, therefore requiring me to chase my targets down.

The irony of this is that you obviously want to be fast from the recharge, but you could end up being slower due to sets you chose.
  12. You know, this list might not have been so full of fail if they could have said more than just "Never got the appeal of the Mary Tyler Moore Show." Really? If you're going out of your way to make a list, at least put some rationality behind the reasons a show would be put on the list. I'm glad some stranger named Lola felt like giving her seemingly valuable opinion, but can we not at least list some short comings of the show to lead to this statement. One person saying something isn't enough to put a hit classic on a list.

As a side note, I never saw the MTM Show, so this isn't just fanboi response.

Maybe you can try explaining the difference you consider to be between "recreate" and "reboot." It seems like you just want to insist on Superman's "deitism" (for lack of a better word) in the DCU, even though other characters have done extremely similar deeds.

I think Desmond's words to Ben in the afterlife sum up the whole purpose of it beautifully. He told Ben he was helping Locke "let go." That was the whole point of their constructed reality, in my opinion. They needed something similar to their life, but without the island. Something with a little added twist to give them some of the things they always wanted but couldn't have.

For Jack, that would be a way to prove to himself he wouldn't be his father. Kate needed to lose her guilt. Sayid needed to find his goodness (Nadia was only a red herring). Some, like Charlie, didn't need much in the way of letting go. He was ready to do so from the beginning, only he needed a little help in understanding why.

When you look at Mrs. Widmore/Hawking, you see the result of someone who understands what's really going on, but isn't ready to let go. She got a life with her son, again, and couldn't bare to give it up. For Ben, it was somewhat the same case. I don't think he couldn't let go of Alex, he just couldn't let go of the things he'd done.

In fact, Hawking and Ben's predicament reminds me of C.S. Lewis' book, "The Great Divorce." People in the "grey city" are in what could be described as Purgatory or Hell, the only deciding factor was how long you stayed there. For our survivors, it was Purgatory. For Ben, if he chooses to stay too long, it could become a personal hell. Especially when you know you're dead and nothing is real. Seeing as the writers chose to reference C.S. Lewis with Charlotte's character, it's a nice comparison.

Hmm... I didn't think I'd end up running on so long about that one.

Confirmed. Elec/Stone can lead to all kinds of smashtastic insanity. But I think /SS would still compliment it well. If you get your recharge up (not hard with Elec) and have Foot Stomp to a good time, then the amount of mitigation you'd have would leave you hard to beat.

I completely understand not wanting to make yet another Superman-wannabe to add on top of the pile of Plainsville. Don't get me wrong, I know the two sets have synergy with Invincibility and Rage providing plenty of +To Hit and +Dam. But outside of that, I find Inv/ to be a lot less exciting than other tanker primaries (mind you, I don't consider it weak, just boring IMO).

Probably for the same reason he's taking Lazer Beam Eyes. It's another Superman clone.

The OP's reg date suggests he could be very new to the game. Just so you know, OP, making a costume that resembles Superman would be ill-advised, as well as making a name that suggest anything of being like Superman. By law, the GMs are required to generic your characters costume and name if it comes close to copyright infringement.

Just a friendly warning. Welcome to the game!
