  1. I say move forward, not backward. Upward, not forward. And twirling, twirling, twirling towards freedom!

(ok, it's more Simpson's than Futurama, but it fits the theme )
  2. Initial reaction:

Oh well, I'll have all those tokens by January, it's not that long of a wait.

Depends. If they're letting you activate an account during the head start period, then by all means, you should be able to play. But, if during the head start period people won't be able to start/reactivate accounts, then I don't see a problem not letting them in.
  4. Every time one of these threads pops up I have to wonder; if you want HVAM buying power so bad, why not just change alignment? Obvious answer: Because you just love being able to change sides that much. If you're that stubborn about being able to keep your Rogue/Vigilante status, then obviously the payoff is worth it.

Suggestion for the OP. Make a Hero/Villain, get the merits and email purchased items to yourself. Problem solved.

Well, Brutes will have BS and BA next week, so I don't know if we shoudl write off BS for Tankers.
  6. Elec/Stone is a great combo as well. Plenty of mitigation in Stone Melee's knockdown powers to shore up any of the holes from being pure resistance. Also, it's just plain old smashy fun.

Do you plan on using IOs?
  7. I like this suggestion so much, I want to meet it under the bleachers and get it pregnant.

I'd consider that a reasonable line of thinking if not for the fact that time travel was so barely touched by the third season (outside of a few episodes that tie it to the Xindi war) and that it's so obvious the studio forced the concept into the show.

Don't get me wrong, I really enjoyed Enterprise. More so than DS9 or Voyager. But it had it's issues. Had it more time, it could have been turned into a much better series, which was already happening with season 3 and 4. But you gotta call a spade a spade. The time travel elements we're crap. And the series finale was a real let down.

Then you have no idea how the world works for most creatives. The person footing the bill can have a lot of say.

I'd like that plus season-wide story arcs (or at least mini arcs). I find "miraculously crazy situations" once a week to be a little hard to swallow sometimes. But a bunch of things happening because of a related event, or task, are more believable. YMMV.

Also, no alien for a captain. At this point we'd expect it. No, it's time to be more forward-thinking. The ship should be captained by a tinier ship.

Heh, that's the codename for the mountain made of diamond in Clarke's 2061. Of course, one has to wonder how the planet size diamond measures in quality. Clarity and color and all that. I wonder if one could "see through" it.

    Everything about this stinks.

Because so many new comic book characters (especially those in long established DC and Marvel Universes) have such a high probability of becoming popular enough to stick around.

I understand changing some existing characters' race to help diversify the pool. They'd be in just as much hot water if the new character didn't draw enough sales and then discontinued it. Then people would would ask why they kill of or end all the minority characters.
  15. Fail. First because it's obviously built from other things (looks like a pre-existing saucer that doesn't look much like the ship). Second, as previously stated, it's says "Star Trek" and not the ship name and number. One must be as close as possible to the original when nerding out.

But, I will give it props for trying.
  16. I'm speaking, of course, about giant diamonds.

I know, The Core makes reference to them as well... but that movie sucked!
  17. I don't get all the knee-jerk reaction.

So they made Spider-Man, not even the real Spider-Man but one of a completely different continuity, half black/half hispanic. BIG DEAL! Blaming this on affirmative action just makes you look ridiculous.

In my opinion, creating an alternate Spidey (such as Crimson Spider, or SpiderBoy) would just be lip service to diversity. You might as well say minorities are only good enough as spin-offs or side-kicks. I think this was a great decision, and it took some guts to do it. I'm just sorry to see the reaction to it taking place on our forums. I figured that was one thing we'd be better than.

I think it was the episode where they found the 3 people from the late 1900's/early 2000's who were floating adrift in space in suspended animation. One asked what people watched on the boob tube and Data explains that TV was just a fad. I don't know what the title of the episode was.

  20. Talks of a new series being pitched have me wondering if I'm ready. From the late 80's to 2005, there was always a Star Trek series on air. Then we got kind of burned out and things seemed finished.

Honestly, I'm not sure it's time for a new one or not. But I'll watch it regardless.
  21. I'm waiting to see dozens of new characters named Kaneda running around screaming "TETSUO!"

Soooo.... very early proof of concept stage.
I'll define real as in "this is in a lab" and not just some crack-pot spouting loose claims of proof. [see: Is This Guy for Real thread for reference]

And yes, I'm completely aware that the photos are only there for aesthetics, as they are credited to whomever created the concept art. I'm not trying to imply that this article is talking about a real product just days away from being in your local store awaiting your purchase. But placing an LED onto a contact lens is an incredible and plausible step towards the goal they have.

Now stop poopooing on the SCIENCE!

  24. Close your eyes and imagine a world of bright vibrant color.

Better yet, just leave them open and use these contact lenses.

Currently, I don't require corrective lenses, but for these I'd wear them anyway.

I'll give you Jones and Cushing, but aside from Vader, there's not much to be seen of Ben outside of the first movie.

And Mark Hamill? Really? Please rewatch the scene where Luke finds out who his father is.
