So even though I may never make a 100% complete Post Apocalyptic costume I suspect I'll eventually be able to use some parts of it for other ideas.
But it's not a "Post Apocalyptic" costume set... It's a homeless person's costume set (which is great if you want to roleplay a Lost gang member).

To me, the concept is all wrong and there were a lot of good concepts/images people suggested at the summit that would have worked better than these. Don't get me wrong, I'll take this for the welder's mask but otherwise I'm really disappointed that its the best we'll ever get for a "Post Apocalyptic" costume set. These pieces are done well but... meh whatever, its too late now.

Same - I was gonna re-VIP for I24 but now there's nothing in the overview that's compelling me to pay (at least nothing that I couldn't hold over to enjoy with I25). I've got another brand-spanking new MMO game to keep me busy right now, so I can definitely wait until next year to re-VIP.

Premium for the win! (Although I'm very annoyed that the toons I unlocked the *last* time I downgraded to Premium are now locked again - seems like a bit of a scam to keep using slots to unlock toons that were already unlocked with slots once before...).

Why couldn't THIS be in I24?!

    Ohhh, the pain! The pain!

If there's any ounce of truth to that "speculation," I'll tell you now it's time to advertise another "CoH subscription" deal. I'll gladly pay a full year's subscription now just to ensure this proposal comes to fruition in 2013 (or sooner if the document's original source date is true).

    GLADLY...

True... but there's also NCsoft's other brand to think about, ie. Guild Wars 2. It's become clear from brand launches in years past that NCsoft likes to slow down development on "old" games so they don't become a competitive distraction for the shiny new game coming to market. I remember CoH having a particular dry spell around the time Aion launched so I'm not at all surprised its happening again.

If my theory's correct, it means you guys won't start openly beta-testing for I24 until *after* Guild Wars 2 officially launches at the end of August. Which puts I24's "go live" date in early November (following October's Halloween event). Oh I'm sure you'll let loose some new powersets and costumes just in time for the start of 4th Quarter (unless 3rd quarter metrics aren't up to snuff in which case, one highly anticipated Market asset will be released prematurely to help bump the numbers). In the meanwhile, you'll tease us with juicy tidbits of information here and there regarding upcoming releases - sorta like dangling the carrot in front of the horse. But beyond that, it's gonna be relatively status quo for CoH (which means we're in for one helluva long marathon run until Black Pebble gets the green light to promote something "new"). I like your new hat btw - much nicer than the same old spin we got in years past.

Oh, and should you try to whip out your krinkly little Obi-Wan Kenobi on me...

All kidding aside, there is a reason why I made the initial suggestion (politely, I might add, by using the words "please" and "thank you" in my original post which I don't hear used none too often on these forums anymore - at least not like I used to). This game's got a lot of MMO competition coming into the market - and I'll be honest, despite my being a 7+ year CoH player, a more recent MMO game I wasn't expecting to interest me has genuinely got me hooked to the point I'm ready to throw a lifetime subscription at it and drop CoH altogether (regardless of my longtime VIP sub and despite CoH being free to play). I was waiting on I24 news to help sway my resolve before changing investments but no such luck.

Bottom line: I expected a juicier marketing promo by now (something besides "hey, we made certain legacy powersets feel more in-line/competitive with other MMO games") - and I say that knowing full well that development takes time; marketing takes time; testing takes time and I really don't expect nor want I24 "now" (contrary to Michelle's sassy little song; I was all hot to buy water blast and then totally forgot about it after playing this *other* MMO game and I've still no desire to log in and buy it now - so yeah, I really can wait for good things, after all, lol).

At the same point, this is the Insta-information age where headlines move faster than marketing and diplomacy can handle. You guys are so busy throttling, fragmenting and slow-tracking information to support other websites, other conference events, and other media venues in the hopes of drawing new players in that its really hard for "current" and "longtime" players to get excited about what's coming next until it actually comes. Again, in my mind, a reasonable I24 preview announcement would have been nice (with the caveat that more detailed info would come later via other media channels would have been completely fine) but clearly you're not ready to share yet.

    That's cool.

At this point, I'm gonna stop worrying about what's in I24 or what any of the forumites have to say about the obvious question on people's minds and log out. I hope everybody has a great day, and I wish the dev team only the best - as I always have.

    Thanks.

Oh! Well that explains everything! Can I watch it on U-Stream? Twitch? ABC? NBC? USA Network? Or Netflix? I do still have some rabbit antennaes in the attic somewhere... Maybe I can catch the announcement on WHYY in Philadelphia when it airs...? No?

    Soon™.

You know, for a minute there I thought you were trying to be clever. But just in case I was wrong...

  11. Id rather have more decorative choices than an all new base building system. The game is too old to reinvent the wheel unless they're creating CoH 2 (in which case, put it there - not here).
  12. Its getting confusing with all the partial info leaks here and there. "Stop over here, we're changing blasters! Log in here, we've got surprises in store for power pools!" I get that you guys are trying to empower the sites you share information with which is *really* quite lovely but at the same point there was a time when "Dev Team Prime" (for lack of a better term) would announce an issue first on *this* site and then pepper more detailed bits and features in spin-off articles around the web.

I definitely look forward to hearing about I24 but let's get a general announcement first before the detailed previews start cropping up elsewhere? By the time you DO announce I24, its going to sound very anti-climactic...

    Thanks.
  13. I know there have to be a bunch of CoH players in the DC/MD/VA/WV regions who have been living without power and A/C for the past few days amidst triple digit temperatures (ours went out Friday, came back yesterday) so here's a thread where folks can commiserate and discuss how they survived without CoH all this time...

    Assuming you did lol.

We do... but once you see how it's used in AL:VH, you really appreciate how fast and furious and ruthless a powerset it can be. Axe wielding in the movie utilizes a lot of extremely quick "baton swing" movements and potentially offers melee toons a bit of ranged damage which is ultra rare.

Slow-motion battle axe just doesn't compare.
  15. So Hubby and I saw Abraham Lincoln: Vampire Hunter today (fun film, good solid summer entertainment), and I came away thinking, if there's an MMO game that could do an axe wielding powerset on the level it was used in this movie, it's this CoH.

Assuming anyone else has seen AL:VH, would you agree that axe wielding might be a worthwhile powerset to implement here?
  16. Right, so we're down to answering the jokey questions from the same forum favorites more than the dumb ones from average players like me who don't speak beta-babble... I'm sooo sorry I took the time to read and post a question earlier.

    #neveragain
  17. I like the range improvement, the to hit/snipe recharge improvement, but I feel like my blaster could use that something-something long-range aoe buff. Is that even possible?

Also, just more secondary powerset options in general would be lovely. Trick arrow, maybe. A future tech or lunar-inspired secondary to complement beam rifle would be wonderful.

Thanks for taking the time to do this. Very informative.

    That's exactly right.

I don't read the AT forums, I don't crunch numbers, and I don't optimize my build every single time I roll a new toon. I'm a casual player with a *very* busy work schedule so I leave it to the brainiac forumites like Arcanaville to help make sure everything works right. That said, I know what feels comfortable when I play without mapping out the exact magic numbers involved, and I've never had any real issues with my blaster builds (even at cap level Incarnate content).

So if anyone said, told or otherwise misled the Devs to consider Blaster AT changes that weren't merited, I'm going to collect some ******* heads... (and I mean old school O-Ren Ishii style).

Do NOT touch the blaster AT unless its a really awesome change...

(bows and walks away with his Hatori Honzo sword sheathed - for now...)
  20. I love blasters (and I mean LOVE blasters) despite having the limited choice of secondaries they get. I've been playing my namesake (eng/eng) for eight years now and I just can't imagine how this AT could possibly change...

Have folks been clamoring for blaster improvements all these years? Or is there something else driving the changes to come in I24?

    More later (maybe).
  22. After 8+ years of playing this game, just when I think I've seen everything...

It's definitely one person playing eight toons simultaneously. I watched them line up one by one until they were all put on auto-follow to the leader, and then off they ran, attacking NPCs in sync. I'm sure it was all done using free accounts but wow... Is it really that hard to find a team nowadays?!
  23. Great storytelling structure wasted on a very average story.

Having a purely Praetorian clockwork storyline was the biggest problem for me personally. They're great to look at but ohhhhhh so boring to fight. Having a third of the missions play out on Praetorian lab maps didn't help either. It was great to see them in Croatoa but the openness of the map heightened my awareness that there isn't much of a singular fighting dynamic to this NPC group at all.

    I24 hopes?

To date, I'm expecting two things:

    1) Shadow Shard revamp
    2) New, improved powers/base customization

One or possibly both of those things is going to happen in I24 or I25 - just not sure which one and in which order.

Do I get a prize if I'm right?
