Quote:I mean, what is the deal?
Ok whats with some of these roleplayers?

I'm planning on attending this year.

Here's an example of a possible "Dark Support" powerset:
1. Twilight Shield, Ranged, Foe -To Hit, -DMG, -Regen, Team Heal
2. Dark Embrace, Toggle: Self +Res(Smash, Lethal, Negative, Toxic)
4. Death Shroud, Toggle: PBAoE, Minor DoT(Negative)
10. Shadow Fall, Toggle: PBAoE, Team Stealth, +DEF(All), +Res(Energy, Negative, Psionics, Fear)
16. Obsidian Shield, Toggle: Self +Res(Psionic, Sleep, Hold, Disorient, Fear)
20. Shadow Dweller, Auto: Self +DEF(All), +Res(Immobilize), +Perception
28. Fade, PBAoE Team, +Defense(All), +Res(Defense Debuffs)
35. Soul Absorption, PBAoE Team +Regen, +Recovery (Special)
38. Dark Servant, Summon Dark Servant: Ranged Debuff Special
All existing powers. -
OK, decided to try to make a generic melee/support AT powerset. This would use Arachnos Soldier as a balancing template, using mostly exisiting powers (to reduce developement time). I'm going to call this set the Warden AT, after the 4e D&D melee/support class. The support powersets would be some combo of armor and buffs/debuffs, with controller-level effectiveness.
PRIMARY POWERSETS:
Battle Axe
Broad Sword
Claws
Dark Melee
Dual Blades
Electrical Melee
Fiery Melee
Ice Melee
Katana
Kinetic Melee
Martial Arts
Spines
Staff Fighting
Street Justice
Titan Weapons
War Mace
SECONDARY POWERSETS:
Battle Medic
Dark Support
Electric Fields
Energy Fields
Gadgets
Gravitic Fields
Kinetic Support
Nature Affinity
Shield Support
Sonic Support
Thermal Support -

Both Blast/Armor and Melee/Support can be made with Arachnos Soldier ATs.
Unfortunately, those ATs are tied to a highly specific concept and can only be started in one of the three starting zones. Ideally they would take the concept of the Arachnos Soldier, broaden the concept with multiple powersets, and make them available to all three zones. -
The biggest possible twist to the story would be a humbled but resurgent Cersei somehow save the Realm.

Because some folks remember back when it was an underperforming primary and don't realize how much better it got when Castle tweaked it a few years ago.
I love the sound f/x for mace. -
A lot of non-KB powers can benefit with KD as well. For most of my blasters, I'll be more likely to put this in a non-KB cone or AoE than use it in a KB power. Or add it to Whirling Mace/Hands/Whatever for more mitigation for melee characters.

Quote:1. The Martells are in a facinating position. They have a seat on the Small Council, one that is about to be filled. They are sending Arienne to treat with Connington (and may be the first of the major houses to find out about Young Aegon). It could be that Dany loses out from Quentin's death more so than the Martells, because I don't see a scenario where the forces of Young Aegon and Dany work in harmony.I'm beginning to think most of Dance was a Red Herring...
1. After Q's death, what play to the Martells have?
2. Griff/Connington: is there really enough support for them to make a run at the Throne? Having Varys on your side is great, but this supposed that people (and by people of course I mean the nobility) really want another Dragon on the Iron Throne.
3. The Iron Bank guy might actually amount to something. He has a vested interest in sticking with Stannis, unless he turns out to be a bad investment, and then they might back someone else to get their money.
4. I think the Militarized Chuch will matter down the line, just not sure when.
5. Qyburn made his monster, but we haven't seen Strong Robert do anything yet...
2. If the Stormlands and Dorne back Aegon, and I think they will, anything is possible. The Lannister-Tyrell alliance is falling apart, the Riverlands are in shables and will soon be starving, the North has to resolve the Stannis-Bolton mess (and winter is coming), and who knows how Littlefinger will play things.
3. The Power of the Pocketbook has been a recurring theme in ASoIaF.
4. The Faith is a huge wildcard right now. I think something with Margaery Tyrell's trial is going to go horribly. Kings Landing is a powerkeg, and open conflict between the Tyrells and the Faith Militant in the streets could destroy the power of Highgarden.
5. And something will definitely go crazy at Cersei's trial-by-combat. I hope Sandor Clegane is involved. -
Quote:First off, there's no "side-quests". His story is his story, and he and Dany will either meet up or not depending on how such a meeting would serve the plot. Expectations on plot events in a book belong to the reader, and Martin has no obligation to fulfil them. What does that have to do with Tyrion getting caught up in side-quests? Are you saying that Drogon masterminded all that? Because that would be weird.
My comment is that prospects for a Dany-Tyrion meet-up look even more dismal now than after Book 3, so by assuming that it will happen in Book 6 you are probably setting yourself up for more disappointment. -
Quote:In fairness, it's pretty clear that when Anakin pledges himself to Palpatine in the immediate aftermath of Windu's death, that Palpatine does something with the Force to Anakin. It's subtle and certainly open to interpretation, but it's there....and III (watch how Anakin Skywalker goes from indecisive over turning to the dark side to killing children in no time at all)...
I suspect that he uses the Force to essentially slightly adjust Anakin's worldview. Certainly Anakin's behavior before that and after was markably different. -
Quote:Fair enough, but I don't think the current powers team is interested in half-measures. If they were, they'd just have made Dimension Shift an immobilize and call it a day on the Grav updates. In this thread, there appear to be two camps.
1. Change the mechanics of the set, redistribute defensive values, or add a new one like TP or absorb
2. Remove the movement penalty in rooted, or granite, or both.
So far, in this thread, there are more players interested in just removing the movement penalty, although we are only on page 2. This is of course a very narrow sample size, but, given the choice between a total overhaul and dropping one number value off of one power, which do you think is more appealing to the dev team when considering a set that has been here since launch?
I'd love for Rooted to lose the -Jump, but I don't know if that would solve the Jekyll and Hyde feel of the set. -
I like a lot of what's in the OP, especially with the stacking armor. I don't think people respec out of the other armors that much anymore because of needing places to put IOs, and I don't run in Granite unless I just have to for the extra challenge, but it would just be a more elegant set if the armors worked in conjunction with each other rather than against.
If the devs feel like Granite still needs the "psi hole", then have Granite still turn off or otherwise neuter Minerals.
Most of all, I'd love for Rooted's -Jump lowered. Nothing says "not super" more than being occassionally defeated by a higher than average curb, or a velvet rope. -

IF they should ever find a way to break past the code issues of allowing for additional enhancement slots, I would not support them being a market item. I am not a "P2W whiner" as someone earlier in the thread mentioned; I don't have a problem with anything sold in the store currently.
Extra enhancements would, IMO, be the fabled bridge too far. I'd love to be able to earn more enhancement slots in-game however. -
The first rule or warning to anyone reading ASoIaF: if any character comes up with a plan of some sort, 95% of the time it will fail, and fail spectacularly and/or heartbreakingly.

Quote:Darkest Night with Blaster mods would definitely not be game-breaking.Darkest Night is debatable, but probably not game-breaking.
Fearsome Stare, Dark Embrace and this version of Obsidian Shield probably aren't either.
However, the devs would have to take leave of their senses to give Blasters a self heal as potent as Dark Regeneration. Siphon Life maybe. Dark Regeneration? Not a chance.
Not that they won't give Blasters a self heal, they just aren't going to give them one that is that good. If it were converted into a version of Drain Psyche, perhaps. But not as Dark Regen currently exists.
I can see your point with Dark Regen, if they use the same version as Dark Armor. They could either modify it by reducing the heal or reducing the number of targets, or as you say simply make it Siphon Life. -
Quote:GRIFF: And how you you plan on pleasing the Queen?Tyrion's story has been steadily declining since book 2. He can't continue doing nothing and have script immunity forever.
But then again, I really hope all that story leads somewhere. Right now he just seems to be serving as the kind of character GRRM puts in place to be a witness to some perhaps-important events, or to nudging events in a particular direction. Perhaps in an effort to cut down on the number of PoV characters.
I had really looked forward to see the chemistry between Tyrion and Daenerys, in book five, so I was a little disappointed when Tyrion's journey just dragged on and on.
TYRION: With my tongue.
I enjoyed Tyrion's journey quite a bit in ADwD. It was fun finally seeing him outside of Kings Landing, where he'd been stuck for two books. And quite frankly, I don't see any meeting between Danaerys and Tyrion going particularly well for either of them.
And there's no such thing as "plot immunity" in this book. All characters exist to serve the plot, either through their life or their death. Tyrion will live as long as he serves the story Martin is telling. -
Quote:I think he's mildly surprised whenever someone reminds him that he has a daughter.Fun discussion topic time.........
(I pinched this from the Westeros forums. I saw the thread title and thought "what a stupid subject", then I saw how many different responses it got and was hooked.)
Stannis truely loves his daughter Shireen. Yes or No? Discuss.
(Personally I say yes and she may be the only person he does love)
I don't actually think that they've shared a scene together. -
Quote:I suspect the next book will have a lot of resolutions to some dangling plot threads. I just finished listening to Storm of Swords, and that book blew up everything after the mostly slow boils of Game of Thrones and Clash of Kings. I think we'll see something similar in Winds of Winter, with Dream of Spring wrapping things up.Do you all think it's possible for Martin to finish the series in only two more books? Given that characters rarely die or get written out and that new major characters are introduced (or promoted from minor characters) all the time, I'm wondering if there will be either a major change in pacing style in the remaining books ... or three to four more books instead of two.
Assuming he does wrap things up in two books, I'm expecting them to arrive about four to five years apart, wrapping up the entire series in 7-9 years (since a book just came out last year).
Just think of all the deaths from Storm of Swords; Robb and Catelyn, Joffery and Tywin, the Old Bear and Ygritte, Lysa and Ser Dontos, Gregor (sorta) and Sandor (maybe)... and those are just the main "speaking roles". I think the next book will have a similar bloodletting. -
