Quote:seems to me stuff like Samuraiko videos, and fight footage are free advertising. They may be giving the game designers $2500, not taking it. I know I bought at least 2 other games on the basis of a players' uploaded vids."Illegal streaming of copyrighted content is defined in the bill as an offense that "consists of 10 or more public performances by electronic means, during any 180-day period, of 1 or more copyrighted works" and has a total economic value, either to the copyright holder or the infringer, of at least $2,500"
I'd like to see NCSoft claim that a YouTube video of how a particular issue's emotes look is worth at least $2,500 in revenue.
The bill seems aimed at those things which get taken down anyway. Now, there is a penalty for those who do such stuff regularly. -
Having not seen the show, and only rarely hearing of it, I'm curious as to why The Prisoner is on the list.
Is the list composed of shows that fundamentally changed how other shows were produced? or composed of shows that dramatically impacted pop culture? Clearly Dr. Who and the Star Trek franchise fall into both categories.
I agree with other assessments that Star Gate: SG-1, and Six Million Dollar Man (with 1970s Bionic Woman) should be considered for the list. Babylon 5 is one of my all-time favorites, but it didn't really make deep waves in the pop-culture scene. -
I'm enjoying the WM/WP beast that is my first brute. I've hit 40 and was trying to decide between more mace, namely Mace Mastery, and ranged Mu Mastery. I read through several pages of search results and didn't see anything clearly on that topic. However, most of the "critique my wm/wp brute" threads I read showed the Ancillary power Energy Mastery, not a patron power, as the players' choice.
What point have I missed that seemingly draws other WM/WP players to Energy Mastery? I've not really had any energy problems since my "teens". In fact, my brute has been one of the most conservative characters I've ever had with energy usage.
And if Energy Mastery is not really the bomb for wm/wp, what Mastery is? -
That's given me an interesting thought. In the introductory missions for Ouroborus, we have to travel back to Outbreak and rescue Coyote and the cops (sounds like a band). Anyway, its clearly stated that your character has previously done this before. So, if the initial Outbreak goes away, do we change to a different initiation in Ouroborus?

Circle of Thorns might be overused in the game, but watching their dark rituals, I've always thought they'd would work well with music akin to the building tension of O Fortuna from Carmina Burana or Waxing Elizabeth from Young Sherlock Holmes.
The manic nature of the Freakshow's freak-olympics seems made for a dark and quirky theme in the vein of Danny Elfman's work.
I'd also suggest a score on the ultimate sacrifice of a hero, notably Breakneck's valiant death. -
I've been thinking along similar lines (to the OP) ever since I started reading the Wikipedia histories of the major DC and Marvel characters. Within the space of 3 paragraphs the story is okay, but read the whole page and belief isn't suspended anymore. Its fallen to the ground, shattered, then ground to dust by the heal of the Juggernaut. In short, the whole is ludicrous.
So I've wondered for months if a comic series could be created with a hero/squad aging parallel to real time or close to it. Death is death, though it can be faked, there's no coming back from the "real" thing. I've not really thought about "what if" histories, but certainly nothing that has a reset switch or otherwise waters down the story impact.
Alternative history does play a role. Built into the concept is that every 20 to 30 years the series is obligated to end. Ride into the sunset. This becomes Universe 1. A new creative team then issues Universe 2, a parallel universe where the story has similarities, but can be told fresh, and from that RL generation's perspective. They then have 20 to 30 years to make it work. Rinse and repeat. This keeps the tale current fresh, and tight. There's not 3 comics and 2 videos in 20 years all with their own take on the character's origins. Fans would eventually compare universes, it would be inevitable, but the stories remain distinct.
Personally, being a fan of Dick Tracy and Prince Valiant comics, I would have loved to have seen these go through that process rather than making the characters grandfathers for decades and still fighting. -
Quote:I'm guessing in such a long-lived scenario, the chance of dying by other means (accident, criminal violence, war, rabbits with a vicious streak a mile wide, etc.) probably goes up.The longer people live, the more likely they will commit suicide. People are just not made to live forever. After 1000 years, you have pretty much completed all your dreams and have to come up with more complex dreams to keep you from being bored. The term bored to death applies to people who live for too long.
Also, much of our world is sadly not nice to each other. I fully expect this medicine initially to be a point of contention, possibly due to initial scarcity, as one group demands medicine and life before another group. Essentially, extended life is power. "He who controls the spice, controls the universe." -
I realize I was gone for nearly a year, but when did this happen? Between 2004 and 2006 I, and my posse of heroes, kicked his sorry backside over 600 times. Literally. I find it hard to believe so consistent a criminal would change. What is the Prime world coming to?

The Shadow. Hat, red scarf, cape-like cloak and two oversized .45 guns.

Quote:I've seen that plane design before. Didn't Joker use something that looked similar (maybe not as big) in Batman: The Animated Series? Please lets see what Bats does with something like this!

I like relaxing to Spanish guitar at times, and was lucky enough to discover John H. Clarke on YouTube. His video efforts tend to be experimental, but his music is great:

If true, I would be interested to see an offer of the the WWI doughboy helmets I think some of the Banished Pantheon undead wear. (especially if you could put wings on them)

especially in the Rhode Island winter.
regarding BAB's hair: many men go through hairstyle changes. BAB may be deciding dreadlocks don't fit his age anymore. In comparison, I think I read somewhere past that actor Jason Momoa was removing his dreadlocks due to the weight. bottom line: a new hairstyle doesn't make or break the Brawler. Changing race might, but seems to me he's in a hellstorm, so lighting would be wild.
I agree with many others here, Sister Psyche would not react this way. Swan might, but not SP. Only other female hero, I can think of, more in control and less likely to react fearfully would be the one that's even older, Lady Gray.
Speaking of Lady Gray, where's Vanguard in all this? Wouldn't Shivans fall into their jurisdiction? -
Quote:wow, I'd forgotten the reason for Gandalf's departure. But then, I've not read the book in 30 years, so certain plot points are hazy. How could the Necromancer be Sauron, though? His disembodiment was, what, a thousand years before?Necromancer=the dark sorceror at the south end of Mirkwood, who captured Thorin's father, and who the White Council (led by Saruman) is meeting to attack during the events of The Hobbit. They did not know this at first, but the Necromancer was actually Sauron. The White Council at first thought it might be one of the Ringwraiths, because of the corruption that was being caused to Mirkwood (it's why it's so dark and the spiders are in there).
So it is related to The Hobbit, but looking at the actual fighting with the Necromancer is going to be rather tangential and not really needed for the storyline of Hobbit. Depending on how they set the two movies up, it might be easier to see it as a different story, touching on the events of Hobbit, so we'll see how it goes. -
Yeah, super science Nazis with masks, flame and lazer weapons, probably robots and...hmmm,
*looks up 5th Column*
wait a second... -
Quote:Can lift up to 70 kg? Seems that is more useful as a hoverdrone than transporting Batman around.
I'm sure he can find a use for a hoverdrone. He's the ultimate organized pack rat, after all.
I'm sure the RL vehicle will be used for small things initially, remote controlled aerial photography for example. -
Quote:What Necromancer is that, GP, and why would his story have any input in The Hobbit? I don't recall one in any of the four books, but I've not read "the Silmarillion". Are you perhaps referring to the history of the Witch King of the Dark Riders?... the Necromancer is pretty off course from the overall plot of Hobbit.
I'm wondering if Jackson is going to use the Ring as an anchor to allow the telling of the history of the 5 wizards and other special beings like Sauron, funneling down to the creation of the rings. We know Radigast the Brown is in the films, at least (more than just the comment by Gandalf in the books). I've not heard if the blue wizards are or not. -
No wings, no rotors. an entirely new kind of aircraft.
Courtesy of Gizmag:
"Austrian research company IAT21 has presented a new type of aircraft at the Paris Air Show which has the potential to become aviation's first disruptive technology since the jet engine.
The D-Dalus (a play on Daedalus from Greek mythology) is neither fixed wing or rotor craft and uses four, mechanically-linked, contra-rotating cylindrical turbines, each running at the same 2200 rpm, for its propulsion."
And, as you can see Bruce, it already comes in black.

Quote:not every scrapper likes working the back, and a lot don't grab their taunt powers. Even with AoE's I've seen the enemy have a couple still go after the controller. You'd get a tank to do what a scrapper/brute could do but with more damage?
And not every pug will have scrappers in the lineup.
I've not played enough with brutes to comment fairly on them. -
guys, guys, its an action shot. all kinds of odd appearances show in an action shot. the real problem is that the photographer selected one of the worst from his ...um, why are you staring at me?
(all kidding aside, why stage States with the 'bot? He'd rip through it like it was foil wrap. At least put Siege up against him) -
this whole knockback problem would be resolved, if an IO were available that converted knockback energy into knock down energy. That way, the player has a choice on any power with the "dreaded" inherent KB, and energy blasters no longer need be shunned. 1 build for KB, 1 build for KD. Energy suddenly becomes very, very useful.

I'd suggest "free people" but that's being used by that Tolkien knock off.
