Quote:well, Turtle Earth can work for some, too. LOL.I do not think that means what you think it means.
While it's perfectly acceptable for a name, it means effectively "turtle earth," not "divine earth."
The root word you're looking for is "kami," as in "kamikaze -- divine wind."
I'm lucky I got anywhere close to accurate, I was so tired when I wrote that.
So would Kamiji be accurate?

Actually the point of me posting this is I want to see others ideas,I get a kick out of people's toons/bio's/themes and sometimes people have a different way of looking at things than I do.Perhaps something can be used or it may lead me into the right direction.I am my own worst enemy when it comes to toons,I get an idea and build it then get tired of it because it doesn't feel right.(I know sorta weird)
The thing that is screwin me up is that I can't get the usual suspects out of my head ie;Matrix,Trigun, etc. It's like I have a block when I think about a DP toon.Meh..stoopid brain... -
Quote:One other question, Larker, do you mean to create the trench coat look, just with a different name, or go with something that's not a trenchcoat? No,my meaning is that everyone will probably be doing a theme like that.I like it but, don't want it,so no names like Tri-pistol,Cleric Cash, etc.I want something different than those said themes.
I am sure that there is going to be so many trench coat, duster(hat) wearin folk runnin around that it will get sick after awhile.
This is the problem I'm running into I can't think of a name, nor a theme, but,I do know I don't want some run of the mill toon that looks like everyone else.Hope this helps,it's early Wes you gotta give me a chance here,I need some coffee and you are makin me think.(yawn)
I've been looking into doing a cowboy for myself, for example. -
Quote:Not exactly sure what you mean by "punny". Perhaps my storm ninja "Saiphoon" is a pun? As opposed to, say, putting two words together, like "Firesword".I like coming up with my own names, but I'm sort of curious. I'm jumping on the whole ninja bandwagon and rolling an Electric, Fire, or Stone Melee Ninja-themed Brute. So, something that would fit either of those elements that isn't punny. This will be on Virtue too, so good luck.
I took a quick glance at Wikipedia for ideas, since my knowledge of ninjas is pretty limited. It notes that some of the legendary or mythological superhuman abilities of ninja were believed to come from the five classical elements. Of those, fire and earth/stone are mentioned along with their words, "ka" and "chi"(or "ji"). Perhaps these can serve as inspiration?
I've found available so far:
Stonesword (more a scrapper thing, I grant you)
Sparkshadow
Spark Shadow
Char Shadow
Charred Shadow
Shadowka
Shadow Ka
Shadowchi
Shadowji
Shadow Ji
Kameji (from "kame" = of the spirits/divine, and "ji" = earth)
Kamechi (same as above)
Nightka
Night Ka
I'm pretty sure there is more. -
Quote:Except Michael is famous for voicing another speedster in JLU animation. You know, scarlet costume, yellow lightning? This, a thousand times over.
I hear my hometown hero, Michael Rosenbaum, when I read Synapse's text.
Quote:Do you mean Geoffrey Holder, of the 7-up ads campaign? (And he also appeared as Punjab in the 1982 version of ANNIE, if memory serves...)
Yes, he'd make a fantastic Mr. Bocor.

Quote:Just doubled-back and re-read this. Yes, yes I could see John Vickey in the role. His Neroon was one of the great highlights of Babylon 5.That's easy...
Oh yeah, forgot one. Mender Silos is voiced by John Vickey, who I loved as Neroon in BABYLON 5.

Now if only there was a hero for Jason Carter (aka "Marcus Cole") to voice. -
Just one? I'm not sure "there can be only one".
Inigo Montoya's line certainly feels like top ten stuff. That whole movie is chock full of good lines.
I also like:
Bond: You expect me to talk Goldfinger?
Goldfinger: No Mr. Bond. I expect you to die. -
Montague sounds a bit more hesitant than I'd picture with Ian's voice. I think I picked up on the bit that he's rebuilding his organization, and may feel a bit vulnerable. I can't yet pick out a name to his voice though.
Percy is that smart, wide-eyed kid. I very much hear Wesley Crusher.
BaBs is Laurence Fishburne.
Ms Liberty is Sarah Michelle Gellar with an attitude.
Dr. Science is Mr. Wizard, just a bit more humorous and energetic.
Citadel would be Keith David, of Gargoyles fame.
Actually, I see Angelina Jolie's British accent tied to the Lady Grey character, but that's probably because I think there's a certain facial resemblance.
Sky Raiders' arrogant, vain Capitan Castillo is so very much Antonio Bandera's Puss in Boots. -
ok, I just tried ninja running out on my winged defender. I've gotta say ninja running + flight = cool takeoff.
It took me a bit of practice to get the timing right, but if you start with ninja run, then leap, start a flip, and hit flight. If you get the timing right, he runs, leaps, flips and exits the flip into full flight. Very cool. -
I don't suppose its too much to ask if it has a minor stealth element, like super speed has? It is, after all ninja running.
Regardless, its great! I was running and leaping all around CaD's center tonight on my ninja MM who I'd tabled for half a year. This pack might just get me to focus on him again. -
Quote:works for NA servers too. I've said before when making my aviation-themed character how I couldn't get "Ace" or "Barnstormer", so I took both, and LOVE my new name "Ace Barnstormer".I find using two words for a character name helps a lot, in the last month I have added the following to my list of alts:
Metal Spike
Solar Power
Atomic Punk
Stray Shot
Gold Face
Admittedly this is on the Euro servers so it may be slightly easier.
More recently, I kept hitting the wall of taken names when trying to find a name for my new fire/kin. I kept trying names that implied "fire dance". A little out-of-the-box thinking suggested considering "what is fiery in nature, but not necessarily fire?" and "what kinds of dances are there?" I ended up liking the sound of Chili Fandango. So there are still ways around the ordinary name and the sure-to-follow "unavailable" statements.
Btw, "Chili Flamenco" was not taken on Virtue, last I checked. Get it while its hot! -
I'll take it, but conditionally. If I was planning on leaving in 20 minutes anyway, I'll drop and go craft or such. I'll also decline if I'm playing certain characters that demand my focus more than others. I find I can't support the team with those characters if I'm also actively searching, recruiting, talking to prospects, etc.
The mood of the team is important too. The team may be doing well, but if they never talk, particularly if my efforts to get them to talk fall flat, then it feels like I'm playing with bots, and I don't feel supportive or a cohesive part. It feels like work. On the other hand, if they've struggled along, several faceplants, but are laughing it up, carrying on a jaunty banter, and sincerely hoping someone steps up to hold them together, then yeah, I'll consider holding them together for one more mission before my time is up. -
-
I've got a little-used Kheldian named Guy Gemini, implying both the zodiac constellation, and the duality of the character.
-
Well, I was going to say "significant end game additions", but the OP said "or hinted at".
So I'll say instanced battle maps of apartments, penthouses, dormatories and other living quarters. Bonus points if they have break-away walls and furniture. -
Great thread topic, Ironik!
Neckbolts of blue-side Virtue shard was just so fun a look, I had to take a snapshot. He was a good RPer and team mate, too. Grab him for your team if he's available. Great to have played with you, Neckbolts!

Quote:probably because it is the same piece of terrain. A continuation of thought. With one exceptions, the neighborhoods in the Rikti War Zone are named after battles or battlefield landmarks from the past 150 years. The most recent "Pavia" I could find is the 1525 Battle of Pavia: is there a more recent action named "Pavia" that I'm unaware of?
On the same subject, why does the Battle of Antietam get two mentions: Bloody Lane and Sunken Road, both of which refer to the same piece of terrain? -
Quote:maybe not walk all over the city, but close to their current location should be fine. That happens frequently in other MMOs. The contact walks around a city square, that sort of thing.I think what would be cool is if the "major" heroes were actually wandering the zone they're supposed to be in and randomly helping people out... It'd be pretty sweet to have to "find" Positron wandering the zone to start the TF... Of course for the "make everything easy for me" crowd there'd be a major outcry, but I think it would add to the immersion.

Quote:First, I appreciate all that you said which I pulled from the quote. KB can indeed be amazing. It can be harmful when used poorly.
...
Politely tell players to try and limit uncontrolled scatter, but leave it at that.
Second, focusing on the quote sections, KB is inherent to all the attacks of an energy blaster. Just firing the lowest power shot, unslotted for KB runs the "risk" of a knockback. So to prevent "used poorly" or to "limit uncontrolled scatter" would mean the blaster grabs two emote pom poms and becomes the cheerleader only.
One of my favorite characters is a energy/energy blaster. I refuse to slot for KB, and I can think of a lot of occasions still when I turn in battle to help a melee comrade, fire a shot, only to have his target go flying, even on a well-placed shot. I've learned to beef up hover so I can speedily zip around the battlefield trying to line up a shot opposite a wall to mitigate the KB effects. Not so great on open field missions though, nor in tight spaces, like sewer doorways. I'd love to change KB to a knockdown, allow a power to slot either KB or KD, or even have a special enhancement for chance of knockdown overriding inherent knockback.
KB is brilliant when I solo. When I get around to working on my second build, I'll definitely slot for KB. -
what? no request so far for the Walther PPK? I'm disappointed. I was sure all the tuxedo-type heroes would be crying out for them.

Anglerfish by @Liz, the lady who won the CoX t-shirt contest. (Syrusb on the forums.)
By far the best anglerfish I have EVER seen in game. I've seen a few attempts. They pale in comparison. -
Quote:Which is fine, because in Praetoria, Bruce Lee survived. So Praetorian Blue Steel = Praetorian Bruce Lee.It's the same reason I now can't stand Blue Steel. Blue Steel = Chuck Norris also got old REALLY fast. (Doesn't help that I don't like Chuck Norris anyhow.)
Quote:Point being, a bunch of Nemesis Automatons that looked like Praetorian Clockwork would not raise eyebrows from the Psychic Friends Network.
Possibly Hamidon somehow. The Devs stated a large chunk of the Praetorian world is overrun with Devouring Earth. Of course, Hamidon Prime and his Devouring Earth is not known for subtlety, so a Praetorian version would have to vary on that point. -
Quote:The article writer predicts an announcement of a second game being worked on by Paragon Studios. But hasn't Posi already hinted as much in some previous speech? I think it was right around the time they changed the name to Paragon Studios. This interview is just "communication" at its best, you know, Massively is basically saying "Is that okay with business? Is there any problem with CoX?", and the NCSoft guy is obviously answering "Yeah, everything's fine! It's perfect!".
But, the article that leads to NCSoft's response was really, really good. The point made was very important IMO. Now, we'll just have to see what the future hold, because I don't often believe what "directors of communications" say, and especially not when's it's related to NCSoft. -
Quote:well you said dreaming allowed!
although they're pretty stereotypical sci-fi, I gotta say the new "aliens bursting from the ceiling" element in Rikti missions is a riot! kudos, devs! Now if you could just make some new maps to go with all this great stuff...
Oh, and that upcoming baby crawl, is that just an emote, or is an actual power, like walking? If so, is it slottable? -

Quote:this.I'd rather see new color PATTERNS added rather than new textures. New patterns can be added onto almost any texture and make it good to look at no matter how plain.... but when the TEXTURES are complex, they look like CRAP when joined with complex patterns that aren't "designed" for them. It really restricts the possible good looking combinations.
I think there's still a lot of potential untapped with patterns.
On the thought that the OP pictured armor is "the Clockwork set": is said set supposed to be identical to Praetorian Clockwork? If you see the closeup of the P.C. at 21:10 on the Hero Con keynote address on Youtube, you notice that unit looks very, very similar to the Clockwork costume swag given out to the attendees (with a few minor tweeks on the players' version. That pattern has similarities, but is largely different from the OP's image:
