I won't be happy until I can make a male hero weaing female clothes.
I've been wanting to make a character inspired by the Rocky Horror Picture Show for years.
[/ QUOTE ]
I had made one awhile ago. I wish the chest slider went lower though.
Don't dream it, be it.

The Science Booster makes me shiver with antici....... -
You are a scholar and a ..... badger?
Thanks! -
Due to a stoopid click through, my power and buff icons no longer display on a particular alt. I can't see any of the icons for group buffs, fortunes, or even my own leadership powers. I have been all through the options menu, but they are written in such convoluted terms (and filled with double negatives), that I can't figure out which one resets it.
Can anyone help with directions for this? -
Issues 13/14/15 were all one thing at one point, I am pretty sure. Sometimes these things end up being bitten off a bit larger than expected. They wanted to come out with something for the anniversary; and as evidenced by all the subsequaint changes, Mission Architect was pushed out just a little before it was fully done. Nature of the Beast. They do it mostly for free, so I can't complain ... much. If you go to work for an MMO you'll find out just how difficult these things are.
-
This has happened to me a couple of times before, but only in PVP zones. It is still a major goof though.

As an aside, the word on audio production sites is very favorable to the i7 (and even the Phenom II) for performance boosts and multi-core use. Win7 is also viewed very favorably, and this from a group who normally reccomends XP as the OS of choice. Nvidia is slightly preferred for video cards due to some audio issues with Nforce chipsets and drivers in the past.
If CoH is your main game, I think that slants your choice towards Nvidia, whereas if you play lots of different games, it evens the balance towards ATIs cards. Thank goodness for the competition between them though.... -

Hm, is there a way to rename/rewrite the description for the currently existing NPCs?
Could I make a few unique monsters for my "Killer Tomato" group, and then drag/drop some DE into it. THEN give them all the same background info and theme names?
[/ QUOTE ]
I have been trying to do this, to no avail. I need Mu strikers, guardians, etc, who are not Arachnos, and there seems to be no way to change their names, or their identifying text. If there is, it is certainly not appearing clearly to me. And no one else on test has known how to do it...
Also trying to use various ghosts, as, well, ghosts. The text on them ties them to their various old groups, even though they are now in my custom group.
If this is changeable, it is not obvious. -
Make them pay for their f0lly! Use some form of leet-speak to get around it. That 'g@mbit' would at least preserve the original intent, while it works through the system. Gaambit. Gambitt. Gammbit. Hmnn.... Dad-gambit!
This is an interesting side problem that I certainly hadn't considered before. Lots of common words and useage nixed. Just try and say 'kung fu' in game. Wonder if it will work in a title.... -
Great idea! Kudos to those that set this up. Good content available from the get go on live, and more incentive to test, test, test!
Smart! -
As someone who was in the chorus of a production of the Wizard of Oz, those songs scanned great! I heard them all in their full gory...ah, glory.

That should probably be 'Creature of the Night'...

What could be better than a Pirate?? Why a crazed undead ninja Pirate stalker!
Hence, Insane Jones at his fines...wors....in all his glory. Because nothing is more fun than kicking your foes into submission with your Wooden Leg!

Their version control checking has been very sloppy in the past. Looks like they just had another call to the 'Uh Oh Squad'!
-
Good work there, Rock. Very useful skeleton to hang your CoH experiance on.

So, I guess I am switching to ATI at just the wrong time?
Got too good a deal on a 2900Pro to pass up, pretty much doubling my performance. I should get familiar with opening a ticket then? -

Had a good time.
Got some swag.
Represented Pinnacle by getting a large mug of Guinness while waitin in line to get in. Had two more while I was there.
Met Ex and several folks I'd never met before which was groovy.
All in all, a cool time. Can't wait to see the pics, Balorn.

Billz looked most impressive while modelling his TR dogtags as eyeshields as well. If we are lucky, (and Billz doesn't pay up on the probablye blackmail) someone will have pics...... -

Nice vid, except I didn't care for the voice actor doing the talking. Not sure really what to say, but it felt 'wrong'. Or, rather, not quite right. Still, it was a good video.

The voice acting felt like you grabbed someone randomly out of a cubicle and then tried to use effects to make it sound passable.....and failed.
Amateur sounding, I'm afraid. -

Not even Oblivion held my interest for more then a week.
[/ QUOTE ]
You know what? I fell in the same boat with Oblivion. It's a beautiful game, but I think that it was just a little too open-ended turned me off. While MMOs are openended, there's a very logical progression with your options. I prefer that.
[/ QUOTE ]
Oblivion....Ugh! None of the three of the avid gamers at the house lasted longer than 2 months. Pretty, but vapid. And Bethesda releases stuff with game killing bugs, that end up getting fixes from the fans not the company. Makes me appreciate even more the hard work and communication from the Cryptic folk. Oblivion was designed for a quick strike on the Xbox community. The TES series has a downward spiralling simplification trend. By TES 6 you will just be flipping a coin.....
As well, I have been looking at other MMOs besides CoX and just don't find any that compare for fun. Even though I am not a 'loot and craft' fan, the new stuff up on Test has turned out to be way more fun than I thought it would be.... -

My guess is a change to the Spines animations, to try and encourage more people to use the set.
Edit: Our samurai friend again. Note the widow next to him.

Am i the only one that LIKES spines as is... surely i can't be the only one...
Dont change it... I LIKE how it looks... i make customs to complement how it looks...
...
I guess i'd survive if it was retooled... but i wouldn't LIKE it...
[/ QUOTE ]
Yes, you are the only one.... :-}
If they were colourable, that might help some. I personally just have my Spines/Dark hide inside the dark ball of shadow cloaking, so I only have to put up with the sound of quills and not the spines and look of it.
Villain side spines look much better imho. Best would be some sort of invention method that would redo 'em thus making everyone happy. -
I am seeing more lag and rubberbanding, but less mapserver disconnects. Used to drop once per hour of play (on average). Down to one or two per evening, Yay! The memory leak looks less hefty as well. But the delays in game are more noticeable.
So, good and bad here..... -

Converted or reformed villains are a standard comics trope. I find it lots less difficult to take than a blanket 'Its a hologram'.
[/ QUOTE ]
[ QUOTE ]
And while the reformed villain/corrupted hero is a staple of the genre, it is usually part of a deep and involved storyline. You don't see too much "Oh yeah, there's this demon, but he's a good guy, don't worry about it."
[/ QUOTE ]
Well, you do see that a lot, but we probably both agree those players don't have much connection with their avatar or the game world.
[ QUOTE ]
So the pets don't seem like such a stretch. It really is up to the individual player to come up with their storyline, or ignore it totally.
[/ QUOTE ]
[ QUOTE ]
Yeah. I'm just not real thrilled with having to make the stretch in the first place. Co* really does an amazing job of making all its crazy parts fit together somewhat convincingly. Heck, even the frickin Halloween event has a consistent storyline behind it. Evil pets is just so out of left field.
[/ QUOTE ]
I am actually having a pretty good time figuring out what pets go with which alts. Allready have one demon pet figured out, where it will be a curse, and will hang around the hero belittling him and trying to make him go bad.......
Hopefully there will be more pets on the horizen. -

I don't see most people really going the extra mile to make a cool rationalization like any of yours. What we are going to see are hundreds of superheroes running around with demons fluttering along behind them for no reason other than that they look kinda cool. ... The fact is, taken at face value, these pets do not make sense and are immersion breaking.
[/ QUOTE ]
Yeah, but you can't really blame Cryptic for a player's lack of creativity.
[/ QUOTE ]
I can and will blame them for building an environment that requires creative rationalization to make any sense or fit with the previous world concept. By your logic, Cryptic could give a veteran reward of fresh fruit costume pieces, where you could turn your character into a giant flying pineapple, watermelon, or bunch of bananas, and it wouldn't be immersion breaking because a sufficiently creative player could explain it away. It's their world and they can do what they want with it, but introducing nonsense and inconsistency, and making me work that much harder to suspend my disbelief, is not a good way to keep me invested.
Heroes are good guys. Having them hang out with demons from Hell is a very powerful strain on my immersion. I can make it fit if I scrunch up my forehead real hard and puzzle it out, but wouldn't it be better if it just fit, right out of the box?
That said, I will repeat that Castle's post reassured me a lot. If all the descriptions do that good a job* of dealing with the issue, I'll be completely satisfied with VR pets.
*And it isn't even that brilliant. "It's not a real Red Cap, it's a hologram of one!" It's kind of along the lines of, "Whenever anything like that happens, a wizard did it." And yet it answers my problem quite adequately. If all the VR pets are described as "just holograms", I'll shrug my shoulders and say, "OK, fine, that works. It's weird, but it works."
[/ QUOTE ]

I know that of my major heros (over 14) I have a Troll, a Clockwork (guess which pet he'll have), a splinter of the Norse Goddess Hel, an EMPed Soviet assassain robot, a mad philosopher warshade and a drunken satyr. Probably over half my alts have reformed spins on them. So the pets don't seem like such a stretch. It really is up to the individual player to come up with their storyline, or ignore it totally.
Certainly, once they get them in game and the bugs worked out (ooo, insect pets!) they should expand the choices as much as possible, and go for a variety, including more heroic ones.
