GM Can't see me

Doing a bank Mayhem when the hero ambush doesn't spawn. Petition figuring lttle chance they will arrive before time runs out.

5 minutes later GM_LEONARD asks if I need help. I reply. He says "Are you receiving my messages?" I reply again. He says I appear to be inactive and leaves.

I try with other players and THEY can all see me so I was connected properly as time ran out. Sadness.

I can only assume that GM_LEONARD didn't have his villain chat turned on. We always suspected they liked heros better now they won't even talk to us. LOL

Make sure GMs have all their chat turned on please.

Evidently, they still haven't taught the GMs basic gameplay. Embarrassing.

This has happened to me a couple of times before, but only in PVP zones. It is still a major goof though.

this has been happening for as long as i can remember. The customer service in this game leaves a lot to be desired.

I still think those chat options should be defaulted to on... or off... they seem to be really inconsistant on which ones are "Enable to allow messages" and "disable to stop hiding messages"... -.-

And every time they put in a double-negative option, I threw a fit in beta. No change. You want to really go nuts? Look at the save/load buttons for the options. Sometimes save is on the right, sometimes it's on the left!

I wish I had a special version of the Propel power that shot out a Windows User Experience Guide.

More than that I feel that chat options should be account wide rather than per character. Sure I can load and save things but there are definite disadvantages to that until you really got your knowledge of the system together, plus you still need to remember to do the load.

Can anyone think of any reason you would want to see opposing chat on one character but not another?

The "hear opposite faction messages" has defaulted to "yes, hear them" for ages now.

Just restarted the game, logged in as a brand new hero and these are the settings I see:

<ul type="square">Show Villain Private Chat: Disabled

Show Villain Broadcast Chat: Disabled.

Hide Villain Local Chat: Disabled.[/list]

So, if I got my single and double negatives right, the default allows you to 'hear' only the /local chat of the other faction while the /broadcast and private /tells from the other faction are disabled.

Since I believe the GMs chat in private /tells, then if they don't change the default, they won't be able to hear villains /tell back to them (since they usually log on as heroic police drones).

The lesson is to hope the GM is actually next to you and use /local if that happens.

[/ QUOTE ] I think that's only if you created a new default file after i12 gave us that ability. I could be wrong though.

I tested this back the last time this complaint came up. Utilizing a brand new trial account, after renaming all the optionsave/etc files (options.txt.oldfile, chat.txt.oldfile, etc) I logged in and looked at my settings, and everything was defaulted so that nothing was restricted.

Granted, it's been a while, so someone may have flipped the switch again.
