Quote:I disagree. The whole game has to change. If you want the old stay with coh prime. Here is a big issue that has yet to be to brought to light, and because of what Coh has done so far. I would expect nothing short of the following for a CoH2 launch:
There would have to be both Heroes and Villain content.
Both sides would have to have at least level 1 - 50 content (if that is the leveling route they choose to go with again, though I would rather see the tree route now)
We would need a morality option from the beginning.
There would need to be an Ouro option.
There would have to be an AE option.
Feel free to add more if you all want. -
This hasn't been fixed for you? I can now email my EU account from my NA account. I sent 20 crafted recipes yesterday and then I sent 500,000,000. You need to open a ticket or reinstall.

First, CoH2 is doa if they name it that.
Second, if they build it on a new engine, all they have to do is make a connection from Portal Corp to the new game. It will be like Going Rogue, you can't access the zone if you dont' buy it. Once you go in though you'll never leave so the original coh still has life at 5.00 a month and new game moves to the 14.99 slot. They'll reach all areas of the market like this.
Example:
PS2 - low end
xbox360 - going nowhere without blue ray
PS3 - high end
I even has a new name for the expansion, "The coming storm" where you go 1,000,000 into the future and get access to way more powers on a new engine...the cataclysm of CoH. -
Quote:BrandX,Not being a programer, I have to ask, couldn't they just make a new engine and put it over this one?
It's not that simple. A software system is usually designed for a certain number of users and a certain visual level. CoH is pushing the limits now. Can you see it? The lag and other things. Software libraries change and you might as well reevaluate everything.
Honestly, they are making raids work on this platform but I don't think it was designed for this originally. They say it can do 32 but we can barely do 24 at one time. the zones have limits on users, this has to change/scale. The surge issues show the fundamental problem with the game engine.
Also, hardware systems have changed. For example when the game came out, I think Windows could support 32-64 processors. Now it can go way higher like 128-256. Do they do 32bit or 64bit? Also, cloud computing is the future and they may design the NG game that more aligns to this model.
Are things clearer now? -
Quote:Amc does 6.00 movies in the morning. I do them :-)I'll probably just wait for Thor to become available on Netflix. The last film I saw in a movie theater was Star Trek, back in May 2009. I just can't see paying $20 to watch a film in a movie theater and endure people yapping on their cell phone / adding their own commentary track to the film / playing games on their cell phone for two hours anymore.
I do it once a month and see all the movies. I carry a timetable with me and map the times and maximize my 6.00 bucks. I even use left over popcorn bags and soda cups for the free refills -
I believe it. I believe it will come so they can have a new platform that will support greater loads/users. I think this is the number 1 problem we all mention daily, LAG!!! CoH2 will be a new engine. Probably with richer powersets and maybe even more archetypes. I don't want to make comments about the maps but it would be nice if they could import them in. My concern is that it will be like DCUO which has HUGE updates when they come....like 9-13GB per update.

This stinks, I was on the road. When I read this I then confirmed it. I was pumped. I go online early evening with out checking again and go through this and get nothing. I come back and it was changed at 1pm EST. I still opened a ticket though. I wish they get their $hit together. This is starting to tick me off. I wasted 2 hours running this low level tf with no powers and I manage to get through it and get nothing.
I came online too just before your post at 7:24, ironblade. I did get the 2 shards for the level shift so this isn't so bad. I must of been in a hurry earlier today. I can't believe I misread this. -
I have an HP 8740 Extreme Quad with 32GB of ram and a 2GB video card. I paid almost 20k for it and it has the same problems as $298 emachines box.

Quote:You forgot the mustache twirling.
Honestly, it flatters us that the Community is so passionate about what we may or may not be working on. To know that you all care so much gives us motivation and more reason to continue to make CoH the best Super Hero MMO out there.
Shouldn't you be working/planning on your next Ustream?
This is a forum where we talk about nonsense... -
Quote:The release date would be in 2013, with the first offical announcement next year
Are you authorized to say this? DCUO will fail after the security lapse at SOE. Why go ahead with a new version of CoX now? This 7 year old game still has no real credible competitors. Does this mean 13GB updates and other stuff in our future? The game/CoX seems to be renewing itself now...or maybe they want to extend the game to the masses on PS3/Wii/Xbox? -

Arcanaville,
You are too negative....
This is worded like that because young people have unrealistic expectations about work. This just tells them what to expect.
- the sitting and standing, etc. Some youth don't want to work in an office.
- Changing requirements means that they may not get everything right the first time so things may change. Some youth think "less" of a place if their not "perfect." I have fired several recently personally and have helped them to confront this expectation. -
Any of you guys want to guess how much it cost to rent Alcatraz? also, how long was the party(1/2/3 days)? I used to live in California but left during the boom/bust of 2007. I wish I had stayed now with the tech recovery.

Quote:Well... This is interesting indeed. I'll be graduating in December with a degree in Game Art and Design. And the spark that sent me down this path was the jobs posting a few years ago by NC. Looks like I need to get my portfolio in order and get an application sent in. Hopefully they're not too strict about the Minimum of 2 shipped titles required for the character artist position though.
Just curious, what's the pay like roughly? In the ustreams, I see young and old people. They seem to have balanced workforce. -
thanks for links and vids, this must of been a hoot. during :52-56 in the video who are those people? Are they cryptic or ncsoft? Was Michelle Bianco and Matt Miller there?

The leet Trailer was very good, MUCH better version -
Quote:I already posted the link in the post. I wondering about the comments Vince made... (because it became something the players laughed about...)
I assumed players made comments about it on the forums. Did the forum exist back then? -
Quote:1. When was the event? Was it held online or in person?0) Black text, especially non-bold, is bad. Some of us use the "Villain" skin so it's black on shades of red.
1) I think all the finalists used to be hosted on the FTP site, but that's out of reach at the moment. Note linked video is 07. Try digging in the News forum.
2) Probably a victim of a forum purge, as that's from CoV release.
3) No clue.
4) Just because Blizzard is making money doesn't mean it's developers are raking it in. Plus, as long as you make enough, it's better to work on something you enjoy more anyway
2. Doesn't answer my question. I wasn't here when these things happened. I saw the video but just curious about the comments made. I liked the video, why bash it? Snapse never seemed to be a major character to me. This video just confirmed it.
3. Still looking for pics.
4. You cannot answer this question. Blizzard has a very good story to game engine/flow, I'm just wondering what could lure someone away from that. Paragon's culture seems to be way laid back. I watch the ustream's and wonder if they ever do any work. I know about money and fun equation but marriage and responsibilities almost always supercede fun unless your single. -
white and yellow looks good on both skins.
-
thanks, I'll log in with my other account which has villain skins and make it compatible.

This was an interesting read. I thought these comments were interesting:
Nate "Second Measure"Birkholz, Lead Producer
"The winner from our first Fan Video Competition. http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=WF5lg41L11I"
1.Where are the other videos from this "competition" and when/what did this happen?
Vince "The Dark Watcher" D'Amelio, Principal Programmer
" I liked the original launch video from City of Villains[ http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=g_bpYYzJwCA ]
It had a good fight scene and of course Synapse being tossed around (because it became something the players laughed about...)
2.Was there a thread about Synapse getting thrown around? I tried to search for it but I can only go back a few year. I really wish I could get the audio scripts and voice actor names for these videos. These are so fun!
Jesse "Ghost Falcon"Caceres, Business Manager
"The best PR-related event I ever attended was the City of Villains Launch party on Alcatraz in San Francisco. NCsoft invited press people from all over the world. Many of us spent weeks and days leading up to the event creating characters, setting up a local shard (Alcatraz does not have Internet access), and getting a stable build together. "
"At the end of the day, the island was closed for the exclusive use for City of Villains. One of the rooms was transformed into a demo area with a stage, and other cells/rooms were transformed into private PR meeting rooms. We had a woman dress up as Ghost Widow, and we had special lighting and fog machines set up to create an eerie atmosphere."
Vince "The Dark Watcher" D'Amelio, Principal Programmer
"Attending the press launch party for City of Villains on Alcatraz. We took over the dining hall of the prison and turned it into a secret base for Arachnos. We even had a costumed version of Ghost Widow escort the press into the prison and welcome them."
3.Does anyone have pics or links to pics from this Launch? This must of been awesome. Even now I still share content from this period to encourage people to the game.
Joe "Hero 1"Morrisey, Senior Designer
"I was working at Blizzard North at the time and we got a copy at work that I quickly 'borrowed'. I played it at home and at work for a number of hours. It was fun and my first real MMO experience. Regretfully, real life caught up with me."
4.What would compel Morrisey to leave Blizzard to come to Paragon? He could of been rich at Blizzard. Also, what did he mean with this statement, " Regretfully, real life caught up with me." He's still playing games, right? I mean he moved from one game company to another. -
