  2. I'm at 65.7 on my Electrical Brute.

    Two PvP Melee IOs and a Shield Wall + Resist got me +6.03 resist S/L. I'm at 59 percent boost to Charged armor (3 titanium coatings and 3 steadfasts for the hit point bonuses) and about 57.5 from Tough.

    The Melee PvP IOs give 1.89 s/l for slotting 5 in PvE.

    If you get a Patron Pet you can get 2.5 lethal resist for 4 Edict of the Master.

    I think one of the taunt sets (Mocking Beratement/Perfect Zinger?) gives either defense or resist to S/L... can't remember which.

    If you slot 4 Kinetic Crash you can get 2.5 smashing resist.

    You can get a laughably bad .75 s/l resist from 4 Air Burst targeted AoE set.

    Am I missing anything? (I know Panacea gives 1.58 s/l for 2, but only in PvP... darn you diminishing returns!).
  3. Basically looking for advice where to go from here on the main. Rejolt is an Electrical Blast/Energy Manipulation/Electrical Mastery Blaster.

    She is built for all around bonuses (damage, accuracy, recovery, regen, hit point bonuses, recharge) but nothing uber in any one area. I'm also proc'd with holds in all 4 ranged attacks and other powers.

    I don't know whether to go for some ranged defense (I blap so soft capped def wouldn't be needed, but some would be nice) or melee or a combo of both.

    My second build could go with PvP IOs so this build may not change much.

    Long-winded way of saying rate my build and suggestions are welcome! (yes, some very rares will come for Energy Punch, Charged Bolts and Thunderous Blast one day).

    EDIT: Overall bonuses aren't shown here. My fault! Hit point cap, about +165 regen, +20 dmg, +51 recharge, +10 fire/cold resist, +90 rec (and a +end proc in stamina for when I nuke), +63 Accuracy & Kismet +6 to hit).

    How is this not doable.

    Rewards from these missions over time could lead to PvP IOs.

    Just saying. It'd be something different from what we already do and not just AT/color palate swapping we do in AE now and would include the neglected PvP element.

  8. That's what I was afraid of, Warhamster. I have 6 Thunderstrikes on a fire/fire dom in Blaze and 3 devas/2 Very Rares in Flares (was waiting for the other three to drop) - long story short - Blaze is less accurate than Flares and I do notice I'm missing more (70 base acc to 95ish).

    Considering these are PvP IOs, it makes me wonder how much the devs PvP vs. most vets lol.

    Where do I send my donation to mids again so they can get their hamster back up and running again to include PvP IOs?
  9. The Rule of 5 basically means you can't get more than 5 of the same set bonus, excluding actual IO bonuses like Luck of the Gambler's recharge bonus.

    Many of the PvP IOs share common bonuses (such as the 6th bonus in many sets are +7 acc and +7.5 recharge). They also share bonuses but share them in different ways: such as 2.25 hp/end bonuses that are awarded sometimes as PvP bonuses and other sets that give them for PvE.

    Question: Are PvP bonuses considered differently than PvE ones? Or if you have 3 Gladiator's Armor 2.25 hp bonuses (pve awarded) and 3 Fury PBAoE 2.25 hp bonuses (pvp awarded) you only get 5 of the 6 while in PvP?

    I think I know the answer here, but until mids updates or we see more rich bastages come up with firsthand accounts ... I gotz no clue here.

  11. Yes. Much like Very Rare damage procs are over 100 points (107-ish I believe).

    Non-VR proc at 20 percent chance: 14.36 dmg per attack on average.
    VR proc at 33 percent chance: 35.7ish dmg per attack on average.

  13. The bonus for 3 Shield Walls is 2.25 hit points, 4 Eradications, etc.

    You can also be at the cap for hit points. Controllers with Earth's Embrace, Scrappers with Dull Pain, Stalkers/Blasters can only take in 13.3 percent (rough estimate) past all Accolade powers before hitting the cap.

    Power Myths!

    WW... mob damage really isn't that high from minions. LTs can be a pain in bursts, but it's the bosses that do the real damage. Confuse only locks down the riffraff while you pound the real threats.

    If the team you're on doesn't notice that your confused minions are doing maybe 5-15 percent damage to other minions then just form another team lol.

    EDIT: For fully reading your post and just saying /agreed. Would have been an easier post lol.
  16. Bumping this, not because Local Man's build doesn't work, but to get it on to the front page for more views.

    I was hoping for Issue 12-14 advice and slotting on a ranged, melee and combo build for an Ice/Ice. My current ice/ice is 17 and planned around range, but I'll try melee on the second build.

    My hope is to eventually get a feel for my favorite playstyle and IO a combo one eventually.

    And I want an all Ice toon. I was hoping for Cold Dom for Controllers to go Ice/Cold/Ice, but that seems a bit off now. There's always Ice/Ice/Ice tanking (sigh, unless I really wanted Ice/Cold/Mako on a corr...).

    I also love the can't solo a blaster myth. It was likely started before the massive changes from I4 to I5, where Global defense nerfs, mob accuracies being lowered and blaster base hit points being raised (from 1050ish to the current 1204ish) made them easily soloable and leveled performance with the other ATs greatly.

    A Scrapper or Mastermind can solo on Setting 5, yet I level faster on a Blaster soloing Setting 1. If I play a scrap or MM on Setting 1 I fall asleep.

    I wish I could say the AoE Immobilize can out aggro a team of meleers myth was false... but say that to my Earth dom. Ouch... even waiting for teams of SoAs and brutes before me to fight for a few moments before casting the AoE is instapain.

    Is this considered a myth? "Using inspirations in anyway shows a lack of faith in your character/means you don't know how to play it?"

    My favorite NCSoft myth: "Focus testing says the average MMO player plays a game for 14 months, and therefore a game must change to match." - That's an oversimplified version of posts and info I gathered a few years back.

    I guess I should give back my last 34 months of Vet rewards, cause I just started working on my 5th year here in CoH.
  18. Short Circuit is an automatic -recovery debuff. That debuff is enhanced with slotting and Power Boost. At -97 percent at best you'll be brawled by LTs/Bosses.

    My Elec/Nrg has 3 Very Rares and 3 Perf Shifters for 88 percent enhanced drain (66ish drain, then +28ish from Power Boost for 94 percent total). I count Ball Lightning (7 percent base + 5.6 from PB for 12.6) to finish the drain on even level mobs.

    Tesla Cage is also an automatic -recovery power.

    It depends on if you want to just drain, or if you want power boost to help with other powers (stuns in the melees, hold durations, fly/run speeds, drains, to hit buffs, etc.).

    Either elec/nrg or elec/elec works.

    Remember: This is even debuffing. If you're fighting +1s you'll have to earn it a little more. You could do it with elec/nrg in past issues but with ED/Power Boost nerfs over time elec/elec is a better instadrainer with SC/Power Sink vs. higher levels.
  19. Well, if survival of the fitest in AE melts down to One Reall Good Mission, then so be it.

    Given the memory limit on an arc, having one very good mission is a great way to spend your time. You can always hit Ouro or devs choice if you want longer arcs.

    We'll just have to adjust our thinking in planning missions if we want badges.

    Good luck! I spend too much time in melee using Power Boost + Short Circuit and melee to focus on just on ranged defense.

    I may do that soft cap stuff on my Sonic/MM blaster.
  21. Agreed. I put up an arc of just you in a room fighting Statesman (1069, very short) and it has 61 reviews at 3.5+ stars.

    The arc I spent 2 weeks on and off editing... sameish review score and only 16 ratings (1059, very long).

    Happens. I put the states arc up as a joke, but if I want 250 stars one day I'll have to leave it up!
  22. Eradication gives 1.56 ranged defense for slotting 3. Much better all around numbers than Cleaving Blow as well (for Short Circuit).

    Lockdown is 3.75 for 6, or if you're short on slots I think Basilisk's Gaze is 1.25 for 2 or 3 (for Tesla Cage and or Shocking Bolt). If you're crazy enough, you can slot Thunderstrikes in the holds, but Lockdown is better for making the power its slotted in better.
  23. Arc is posted below. I've already been warned by Sins it's a little too Me-centric (meaning it has the most significance to people who have seen/know me in game as Rejolt). Sighs... perhaps I can do a re-work in the future for why someone outside the inner circle would care.

    Difficulty Level: Easy for first 2 missions, average for 3rd (Nemesis fight with a strong ally), very hard for 4th (15-minute kill all on a burning forest map - meant to be impossible for story purposes... but people keep telling me they do it and love the challenge) and finally the 5th mission is hard with ambushes, defendable objects and 2 EBs with no allies.
    Level Range: Any, but at least DOs for 3rd mission, thereafter you'll need an SO'd toon at least with the ability to solo and survive or a team that can kill quickly.
    Synopsis: The hero Rejolt has done years of good deeds for Paragon City, but most of it solo. She's tried too hard to increase her power and it will eventually lead to her downfall. You'll get to witness her beginnings, her biggest triumph and eventually her downfall before fixing her in the present by digging into her mind.

    Estimated time to play: 35 to 40 minutes for your favorite buzzsaw, can go as long as a hour otherwise.
