Jay does that "IMAGE 10th ANNIVERSARY" include the Spawn sitting atop a cross?

I've been thinking about ebaying that one, but it may cost a pretty penny...is it worth it?

It's been so hard keeping quiet about this.

Like many of you, I am an avid fan and player of this game. I've played it since launch, have multiple level 50 characters on both sides of the fence. I truly love this game and it's been an honest to god, dream come true to have the opportunity to work on it during the day and then go home and play it at night.

The thing that has excited me most about this whole deal is that I can only see great things coming for all of you guys as the players of this game. And to me, that's what this is deal is all about. Making the game awesome for as many of you as we can. That was ultimately the biggest factor in my decision to leave Cryptic and join NCSoft. All of those things that we've had to push back or write off as taking too many resources to get done in the limited time frames and limited manpower. All of the bugs or QoL issues that have been lingering for what seems like forever because the programmers were too busy fixing the major bugs. All of those really big pie in the sky ideas that we've dreamed about for so long and couldn't do because there was no one who could implement them...that's all back on the table. The sky is literally the limit. It's been really tough having to make decisions on what would be the 'best bang for the buck' and I'm really looking forward to having the recourses so that won't be such a deciding factor moving forward.

Of course, just putting more resources into the game wouldn't cut it by itself. We have a fantastic team that's been working 100% (or more in some cases) on CoH/CoV and every single one of us has made the move to stay with on this project and with this team. So now we've got a lot more recourses, the same fantastic team, the same great game to pour all our energies into, and the best bunch of players to create that content for. Personally, I've never heard of a situation like this in the game industry. It just doesn't happen.

I am completely stoked. You guys should be too. We literally would not be here without you guys.

There's going to be a period of transition as we move into the new studio, staff up, and train those new people in using our systems...but we're going to do our damnedest to make sure you guys don't notice and very shortly after that you will notice the results of this. I really wish I could talk about the things we have planned, but it's not my job...so I don't get that privilege.

All of this is still bittersweet. I have nothing but good things to say about Cryptic, they're a fantastic studio who created a fantastic game and they're now moving on to create more fantastic games. I'm truly going to miss working with them. I'm sure this was a tough decision for them to give up the controlling share of the franchise, but one thing that probably helped make it easier is that they knew their creation was being passed into the absolute best of hands. There is no other group of people in the world who care about this game and it's players like we do.

Looking forward to a very bright future for this game and all of you guys. We love you all of you. You drive us nuts sometimes, but we still love you.

WOOT!!!!!!!!!!! Love you guys, I really get more and more stoked about this deal as the days go by to

Lets make CoH better than we ever IMAGINED it could be!!!!!!!!!!!!! Community and Dev's alike!!

Lets get some discussion going on in here.

I am really looking to leverage some community ideas, so lets get some PVP Community focus going and see what as a community will be your prioritized list.

    For me:

PVE & PVP build that I can toggle.
Using the kiosks in game for PVP status.
More built in, in game rewards for PVP content.

Oh and an automatic "I win" button because I don't foresee that ever happening, remembers back to one of the PVPEC events where the whole team I was grouped with was there just to make sure I didn't die a hundred times.

    Ex

    [/ QUOTE ]

Absolutely in favor of points one and two in particular, Ex!!!!! I must admit the idea of a 'spec toggle' never occured to me, nice thinking And more PvP rewards are a MUST!!! Make it a part of the GAME I say, stop with this 'aside' junk that is sub-par to PvE! Get some real PvP missions up, select instances within pvp zones that have missions that Heroes + villains can jump in on (on opposite sides of the map) and fight with eachother! And more XP rewards for PvP, at least!!!

Say it with me! Equal rights for PvE and PvP players! Equal rights for PvE and PvP players!

In any case, I'd love to hear more of your ideas Ex...you've got me intrigued!

Can we get a Dev list of who's around and who stayed with Cryptic?

    [/ QUOTE ]

Jack Emmert remains in his position as Creative Director of Cryptic Studios, that he has been doing back since he transitioned off the day-to day CoH team and Positron took over as the Lead Designer.

As was mentioned by Brian Clayton in his Dev Corner, the previous Cryptic Team Leads all join us, consisting of:

    Matt “Positron” Miller (lead designer)
    Aaron Brady (lead engineer)
    Ken Morse (lead artist)

With one exception, everyone who was presented with an offer to stay on the City of Heroes team under the NCsoft banner has accepted and is looking forward to working hard on the future of the franchise! While this includes a good number of people, it also includes many of the familiar “red names” from the forums, such as: Melissa “War Witch” Bianco, Floyd “_Castle_” Grubb, Back Alley Brawler, Ghost Widow and “Sexy” Jay Doherty.

    [/ QUOTE ]

Very curious as to who the one person is that did not hop on the train!!! What position did this person hold? (Artist, engineer/coding, etc...???)

    Very curious indeed!

Also....+1 shameless vote for a sequel in 2 or so years (anyone with me???)

    Cryptic coolness

    Anything...the community can do....to help animations....in-game CoX....should....be....thoroughly...PERSUED!!!!!!! !!

For the love of CRIPES I beg those whom are capable in these matters, impress the heck out of Back Alley Brawler and bring some freshness to the animations (NOT just more emotes please before I die of the thought that that gets 99% more attention than actual moving around animations)

Not sure how that comes out sounding, but please don't attack me for it. I simply YEARN to see the day when CoX gets an amazing set of *changed* (and added, why not), fresh animations
  12. Lol good, I was gonna say

But yea guys, chime in on this if you love CoX--They deserve at LEAST a thank you from ya'll!

    Show the love
  13. Cryptic and friends, this one's for you. I've been getting more and more psyched for Issue 9 not just to the promotions, but mostly thanks to you all making these threads so ALIVE!

    Community Digest: http://boards.cityofheroes.com/showf...=0#Post7401350

    Dev Digest: http://boards.cityofheroes.com/showf...e=0#Post312062

Now, I haven't exactly earned any 'bug hunting' badges or directly participated that much in this myself (forums included, sadly), I'm the first to admit, but I could easily see the efforts being made by both the community and you guys in the past months. I've been eagerly checking back here multiple times a day just to see the fun new goings on in the training room, the offices of Cryptic and what not, and I simply have to applaud the marvelous job you have all done on Issue 9 but more importantly how WELL and fluidly you all seem to have worked with our lucky community.

To be honest, the thought of it has almost brought a tear to my eye.

You guys have always worked with the community in the past, more so than other dev teams, but this has really taken the cake this time around, due in no small part to the likes of Lighthouse, Ex Libris, etc, as well as Cryptic. A thousand thanks to you all!!!

You can be sure *I* won't be unsubscribing, if not for the game (which I love dearly), then for your humble coordination with our lucky community, and the resulting FIERCE PRIDE I have in Cryptic now!!! (*more* so than before )

So thank you, Cryptic and friends!! YOU are our heroes!!

    Say it with me, people!!

    CRYPTIC!! CRYPTIC!!!

    CRYPTIC!!!!!

They learned from the last Event. They camped the hospitals for I think it was Cuppa's party, or one of the prior anniversary shindigs

    [/ QUOTE ]

Not true. I was playing as Manticore during the Cuppa-thon and was responsible for spawning all of the critters during that event. None of the devs ever camped the hospitals. I spawned the RV versions of the Freedom Phalanx and Arachnos AVs at one point and I believe what happened was some crafty player managed to train some of them up into the rez stations. I was babysitting everything I spawned and killing off the things that were wreaking too much destruction. In the chaos, I lost track of a few of the AVs and just assumed that all of the players had taken them out. As soon as I heard over broadcast that they AVs had gotten up there I went up and killed them off. It was never us griefing you. At least not directly.

I suspect that this is what happened this time. Ghost Widow was actually the only dev who had permission to spawn anything during this event. I don't believe anyone working at Cryptic or NCSoft attacked another player. We actually have very strict guidelines about what we can or can't do while logged into a signature characters. So if you were attacked by Lord Recluse it was undoubtedly one of the AI critters spawned by GW.

We took a lot of extra steps to make sure everyone was aware of what was going on this time so everyone could avoid it if they wanted too. We had 8 or 9 instances of Pocket D open during the event and things were only being spawned in 1 instance at a time, with plenty of fair warning beforehand.

    [/ QUOTE ]

...wait, so dev's aren't allowed to attack us at ALL? It wasn't just you guys choosing not to attack us??

I must say, that is utter poop! There should just be a fight the dev's day in Siren's Call or somewhere so we can end that!

Come on, it'd be WAY too much fun to ignore!
  15. 3 CHEERS FOR EVERYONE AND EVERYTHING!!!

Hahahah really though, you guys at Cryptic rock

I had a great time..... my title zapper is tired so I am going to go let it sleep.

We had some great trivia with prizes sponsored by members of the community, and we will get an announcement up about those winners and the questions asked early next week.

Continue to enjoy the party, but please be careful on your way home

MRS. LIBRIS! Why didn't you talk at all?? Lol I was trying to get you to say a word but you just stayed quiet the whole time

I would've liked to hear what you had to say! How come you didn't say anything?

    [/ QUOTE ]

The reason I didn't talk that much is due to all the yellow titles you see running around on test.

I would say that 85 percent of those were done by Lighthouse and myself, and we did that so the dev teams would have more free time to answer specific questions.

I'm not shy, feel free to ask.

Ah, well so be it I figured you were too busy firing your yellow name ray gun to speak lol

But you should play more, there's usually no fight in CoX that I can't simultaneously fight and chat during, now

PS-Btw...you realize you're the most powerful character on the test room, right?? I mean, you have EVERY POSSIBLE power!!! Goodness, Mrs. Libris!! How did you become so powerful that you can take on Statesman and all his friends??

  18. I never really get involved in these discussions because if I did, I'd be tied in all day with all the games I play, lol.

But this is one game with one issue that I feel rather strongly about, so I'll say my 2 cents:

I strongly feel that in general, it is *far* too often that characters miss the enemy. I could go on about how this manifests itself, but to get to the point--I would become a good deal happier if you could hit the enemies more often by default (even if one must sacrifice some damage to do so!). And yes, I have many accuracy enhancements in my powers

Every miss just feels so un-heroic!!
  19. So you guys ARE doing a 4th one, right?
  20. I decided to peruse this forum for the first time in years just recently, and I have just now discovered that some are willing to draw one's character for them... Incredible!!

Does this usually come with a fee? Are there a plethora of artists, or just a few?

I just find this idea incredibly interesting, so I'd like to know more about it before I decide to go through with it or not

    Thanks!

Redeemer: post screenshots with the UI on. You can't display the UI when demoplaying so that should shut skeptics up.

  22. Just...sigh...I don't lol

Come on guys, just mention to someone to try walking, keep your eye on them, and hit that screenshot button! I think we can all pull together some amazing screenshots of this sexual animation
  23. I just tried 2 of those emotes...never even SEEN them used before...but now they're bound to some of my numpad keys Kudos!
